Chapter 119: Chapter 119
The wall of mud and wood was shattered instantly, and all the traps along the path were triggered.
To the giant poisonous salamander, these lethal traps were nothing more than minor irritations.
"Ah!!!"
Some unfortunate Konoha ninjas were struck by flying debris and rocks as the wall collapsed, only to be swept up by the salamander's long, coiling tongue and devoured in one swift motion.
The terrifying sight sent waves of panic through the camp.
"Attack!!!"
The traps proved ineffective, and with the wall breached, Hanzo of the Salamander charged into the camp, leading his forces.
Chaos erupted throughout the camp.
---
"My Lord."
The ninjas and ANBU squad stationed at the medical room gathered around Shinki.
"Your mission is to protect the medical room. Do not let the enemy reach the wounded," Shinki commanded, ensuring the medics and injured were safeguarded.
"Yes, sir."
The ninjas and ANBU teams followed orders without hesitation.
"Ah!!!"
Hanzo moved like a shadowy panther through the rain-soaked night, wielding his sickle like a reaper. Wherever he struck, Konoha ninjas fell, their screams punctuating the downpour.
"Hanzo!"
Nara Shikashin raised his hand, preparing to use his shadow jutsu to immobilize the feared leader.
Hanzo's speed was unmatched; his movements left behind mere afterimages. The Konoha ninjas could not stop him.
Danger!
Shikashin's instincts screamed as he dodged just in time.
"Boom!!"
The spot where he stood moments before was obliterated by the salamander's whip-like tongue, leaving a deep crater in the ground.
A second slower, and he would have been severely injured, if not killed.
This is hopeless. Hanzo's power is overwhelming.
While the Rain Village ninjas posed challenges, Hanzo was on another level. He was a god of war, capable of cutting down even the most skilled of opponents.
The Nara clan's fighting style was more suited for support and strategy, not direct combat with someone like Hanzo.
Fortunately, Shikashin's diversion bought some time, allowing other Konoha ninjas to regroup and act.
"Can't hold him off…"
Desperate, Shikashin sprinted toward the medical room. The camp was nearly defenseless, and Hanzo's timing was impeccable. He could only hope to lure Hanzo away from the heart of the camp.
Hanzo's poison alone could decimate the camp; even attempting to engage him in close combat was a death wish.
---
"Shinki, weren't you talking about slaying gods? Well, here's your chance," Shikashin shouted as he approached, a sly gleam in his eyes.
"???"
Shinki, advancing toward the chaos, paused. Hanzo, standing atop the giant salamander, was momentarily taken aback.
Slaying gods? This boy?
"Senior, are you really setting me up like this?" Shinki's brow furrowed as he suppressed the urge to curse.
Sure, I thought about it, but you didn't need to shout it out loud.
"Ahem!"
Shikashin landed beside him, a bitter smile on his face. "Apologies, but I'm out of options. I can't handle him. It's up to you."
The camp didn't have enough fighting power left to fend off Hanzo's forces. While they could deal with the ordinary Rain Village ninjas, Hanzo and his summoned beast were an entirely different matter.
All Shikashin could do now was provide support if Shinki needed it.
"God-slaying?"
Hanzo's eyes narrowed as he looked at Shinki, scrutinizing him. "You must be the Hyuga Shikadao Chiyo mentioned."
"That's right," Shinki confirmed, taking out a sealing scroll from his robes.
Killing a god? I can handle that.
Hanzo's sneer deepened as he saw Shinki draw the scroll. "Interesting. A Hyuga who doesn't just rely on their Byakugan but also dabbles in puppetry."
"It seems someone's shared my secrets, but it doesn't matter," Shinki said with a smile, tossing the scroll to the ground. "Thanks for being my stepping stone, demigod."
What did he mean by that?
Hanzo's frown deepened. Did this boy intend to use him as a stepping stone to fame? The realization made Hanzo chuckle angrily.
The scroll burst open, releasing hundreds of shadowy figures with glowing green eyes. The puppets surged toward Hanzo and the salamander without hesitation.
Are these Shinki's puppets?
Nara Shikashin's eyes widened, resisting the urge to blink.
"A few puppets won't defeat me. I am a demigod!" Hanzo roared, slashing at the airborne puppets with his sickle.
The salamander beneath him lashed out its tongue, swallowing several puppets whole.
Oh, great salamander, you're fearless. Nara Shikashin raised a thumb toward the beast in reluctant admiration.
True bravery.
"Boom!!!"
The puppet Hanzo struck exploded, forcing him to dodge using his body-flicker technique, a skill in which he was among the top five in the ninja world.
Hanzo escaped the blast, but the salamander was not as lucky.
The explosion ripped a massive piece of its scalp, and the beast's wail pierced the night. The salamander thrashed, trying to rid itself of the pain, but it had swallowed too many puppets, which now detonated in its stomach.
The internal blasts were catastrophic. The salamander's body rolled violently, expelling fragments of its organs and puppet parts as it howled in agony.
No summoned creature could withstand such devastation. The salamander's greed had led to its downfall.
"This... this is impossible!"
Hanzo's eyes widened in disbelief as he saw his once-mighty summon collapse, dying from the internal explosions.
"Finish it off!"
Shinki shouted. There was no way he would let such a beast escape. If the salamander could be repurposed as a puppet, it would be a terror to their enemies.
