Naruto : The Demon Swordsman

As Yoriichi and Itsuki were talking between themselves, Genkai appeared from Yoriichi's shadow.

"Sensei, I hope you have come bearing some good news?" Yorrichi asked

"For you, I think it would be considered good news. The Iwa army has infiltrated the Land of Grass and has made one of the border towns as their headquarters. Kota and his battalion have moved to block both their retreat path and supplies path. I would also be reinforcing them."

"Now as for your good news, Iwa has dispatched a good lot of their army this way to secure the bridge. Of course, they are still confused about not finding any shinobi to defend the land and thus don't know about your presence here. So they have no clue about our strategy of dividing our S ranks to make full use of their individual might. They would be here in at most an hour."

Hearing this, Yoriichi had a wide grin on his face. The army under him wondered whether their commander was someone who loved blood and death.

"Remember to strip them of everything valuable. That's our primary plan after all." Genkai reminded Yoriichi of their initial plan to which he nodded and promised himself to not use any of his fire jutsus or fire breathing techniques which might result in them burning the shinobi valuables.

"I have relayed the intel and my duty here is done. I have other places to relay the intel to so I will be off now. Yoriichi, Itsuki take care of yourself and your subordinates. Don't die and don't let them die easily." Genkai's expression softened as he said the last line before disappearing.

"Awww, He is such a big softy inside." Yoriichi chuckled as he then addressed his men.

"My fellow comrades, It looks like the time has come for us to fight. Let's prepare to ambush the Iwa shinobi here. They don't know that we have divided our enemy forces so it's best to take full advantage of their lack of intel. They would not know what hit them. We might be outnumbered but we would make sure to take as many as we can with us."

"How many shinobi would we have to face, Young master?" Someone asked

"A few hundred at least" As Yoriichi said that, he saw many of them tremble in fear.

"Can I ask you something? Will you be honest with us? " One of the bold ones asked Yoriichi who nodded.

"Go ahead"

"Are all of us going to die in the battle? We will be outnumbered by at least 1 to 10. You might survive but what about us? Are we not just expandable pawns? You are the one who is going to do most of the killings while the enemy focuses on killing us."

"Yes, Most of you would die in the battle. I will be honest with you. I won't be able to protect you in a battle of such scale." Yoriichi replied

"Since we are going to die anyway, What's stopping us from running from the battlefield? Even if we get hunted by the village later, our chances of surviving are much better." At the words of the bold shinobi, everyone else who was also scared of dying perked up.

"You are absolutely right." Yotiichi's words shocked every shinobi present there even Itsuki.

"Everything that you thought had meaning: every hope, dream, or moment of happiness. None of it matters as you lie bleeding out on the battlefield. None of it changes what a speeding fireball does to a body, we all die. But does that mean your lives are meaningless? Does that mean that there was no point in you being born? Would you say that of our slain comrades who died on missions for our village or protecting the important people of the village? What about their lives? Were they meaningless?" Yoriichi took a breath as he looked at everyone.

"THEY WERE NOT! Their memory serves as an example to us all! The courageous fallen! The anguished fallen! Their lives have meaning because we the living refuse to forget them! And as we ride to certain death, we trust our successors to do the same for us! Because the shinobi of Uzushiogakure do not buckle or yield when faced with the cruelty of this world! The Uzu Shinobi push forward! They scream out! They RAAAAAGE!" At the end of Yoriichi's inspiring words, everyone started to charge forward with weapons in hand.

But then all of them realized that there were no enemies present for them to fight yet as they embarrassedly stopped and looked at Yoriichi in admiration.

'I always wanted to say this speech. It still gives me goosebumps. RIP Erwin Smith. Your last words still inspire us all.' Yoriichi stood in silence for two minutes in remembrance of Erwin.

"Alright now use the sensor blocking seals and hide yourself. No Iwa shinobi shall pass from here and if they shall pass that would be over our dead bodies. Understood?"

"Yes Sir" Everyone saluted

Yoriichi looked at them with a small smile "Also While I can not promise to protect you all from dying, I will do my utmost best to prevent such an outcome. Even if you die, I would make sure that your killer would soon join you in the afterlife."

Everyone cheered and thanked Yoriichi for his words as they all went into positions. Some hid on top of trees, some went underground, some went below the bridge and some went underneath the river.

And then they waited for their prey to arrive.
