Naruto: The Otsutsuki Naruto

Chapter 199: Chapter 199: Loss Brings Clarity

Wrapped in the shroud of his Edo Tensei body, Obito Uchiha moved like a ghost through the relentless rain of Amegakure - Hidden Rain Village.

"If I were to act," Obito mused, "never mind whether I could defeat Naruto, this village would undoubtedly bathe in blood. Yet, I am bound—my hands are tied."

He clenched his fists, frustration evident even in his spectral form. "Though I walk as one already dead, the Cursed Tongue Eradication Seal has been transferred to Tobima's throat. Should I break my oath and make a move, Tobima would bear the consequences. If Tobima dies, so be it, but the Moon Eye Plan would crumble with him. Tobirama Senju… truly brilliant."

Zetsu, ever the shadowy companion, chuckled. "Naruto Uzumaki sealing off Amegakure at this time—what a lucky coincidence for him, huh?"

Obito's tone was cold. "A lucky coincidence? Is that what you think, Zetsu?"

"What else could it be~? This plan was known only to you and me; even the other White Zetsus were kept in the dark. Even if Naruto is sharp enough to deduce that you used Edo Tensei on yourself, how could he possibly know about Tobima? Unless someone saw it with their own eyes, who could uncover his secret?"

Obito paused, his voice heavy. "There is one person who might."

Zetsu's tone shifted. "You mean…?"

"Shikaku Nara."

At this, Zetsu fell silent.

Obito's voice grew darker. "Leaving Tobima's body exposed… perhaps that was a misstep. A single wrong move, and the situation spirals out of control."

The rain continued to pour, its unyielding rhythm echoing Obito's thoughts. "But none of this matters anymore. Pain was deemed invincible, yet once his secrets were deciphered, he was defeated piece by piece. True invincibility lies not in brute strength, but in standing unassailable even when all your cards are on the table."

He clenched his fists, his resolve hardening. "The combination of Uchiha Obito and Senju Tobima is the epitome of invincibility. No matter how hard Naruto resists or delays, he cannot stop us from achieving true peace!"

Obito's gaze pierced through the rain. "When this village is drained of its resources and descends into chaos, that will be the moment we strike."

Zetsu, ever the contrarian, teased, "But what if Naruto Uzumaki plays dirty? What if, no matter how we threaten the hostages, he refuses to leave the village?"

Obito replied coldly, "He is alive. And the living… need to eat."

"But he has the Flying Thunder God Technique! Even if the food runs out, he could just teleport out, grab some fruit, and return. We wouldn't be able to catch him," Zetsu countered.

Obito's tone remained steady. "If he resorts to such tactics, then this village will collapse on its own. Attacking an already-defunct village wouldn't technically violate my oath."

Zetsu pressed on, "But what if he's even more shameless? What if he abandons Amegakure entirely and hides somewhere we can't find him?"

Obito fell silent for a moment before responding, "Zetsu, do you know what a contrarian is?"

Without hesitation, Zetsu replied, "A place where you relieve yourself?"

Obito sighed. "That's a latrine, not a contrarian. Listen, a contrarian is someone who always comes up with seemingly logical but utterly implausible scenarios. Right now, you're being a contrarian."

Zetsu muttered, "A contrarian… I'm a contrarian…"

Obito continued, his voice firm. "The world operates on cause and effect, each link unbroken. If Naruto were the kind of person you describe, he wouldn't have been able to oppose me this far. And because he has opposed me this far, he cannot be the person you describe."

Zetsu relented. "Alright, I'll stop being a contrarian. But… if we're truly invincible, as you said, why bother infiltrating the enemy's territory to gather intelligence?"

Obito stopped in his tracks, Zetsu's question striking a nerve.

How had it come to this? He, an invincible being, doubting his own actions?

After a long silence, Obito concluded, "Let's consider this operation the final act of entertainment before the Infinite Tsukuyomi begins. Once Tobima becomes the Ten-Tails Jinchūriki, I will use the power of Yin-Yang Release to remove the Cursed Tongue Eradication Seal. Then, as a tribute to the surprises Naruto has given me, I will use Amegakure as the starting point for the Infinite Tsukuyomi to cleanse this world!"

With his resolve reaffirmed, Obito continued his journey, eventually arriving at the bustling marketplace.

The people of Amegakure were busy preparing for the winter, their lives seemingly untouched by the storm brewing around them. Despite his unusual attire, the villagers paid him no mind—they had seen stranger things.

Stopping at a butcher's stall, Obito observed Kisame Hoshigaki, once a member of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, now wielding butcher knives with practiced ease as he carved meat.

"Here's your pork trotters, Uncle Chen!" Kisame called out cheerfully.

"Thanks, Kisame! Everyone knows your meat is always weighed fairly—no water weight at all!"

"That's because Kisame uses Water Release to extract the excess water from the meat," Zetsu muttered, incredulous. "What on earth is Naruto trying to achieve?"

Obito's gaze darkened. "During the Blood Mist era, Kisame betrayed the Mizukage and was killed by Itachi on the spot. I was there. His bloated corpse lay in a pool of blood, resembling a slaughtered pig. And now, years later, he's a butcher in Amegakure. The absurdity of this world…"

Shaking his head in disdain, Obito moved on.

An elderly woman, rushing home, tripped and spilled her basket of fruit. Obito paused, crouching as if to help, but his hand froze mid-air. Clenching his fist, he withdrew and walked through her as if she weren't there.

"Stop right there!" A cold, commanding voice rang out.

From the rooftops and shadows, figures clad in Amegakure's ANBU uniforms emerged, led by Violet.

"Your appearance is highly suspicious. Submit to an inspection!" she demanded.

Obito, unfazed, removed his hood, revealing a white, spiraled face.

"You… you're with that wrinkled-face guy!" Violet exclaimed, recognizing Zetsu from a previous encounter.

Drawing her blade, she slashed at Zetsu, but her attack passed harmlessly through him.

"Just as you predicted, Naruto-sama," Violet said, her eyes narrowing. "Obito Uchiha. You've come to scout the village after the lockdown. Just as expected."

Turning to her subordinates, she ordered, "Search for his other body—it's likely here as well!"

"Yes, Violet-sama!"

The ANBU launched their assault, their weapons slicing through Zetsu's intangible form. Watching the futile attacks, Zetsu sighed, "Ah, as you said, Tobima's secret is out. Oh well."

Ignoring the attacks, Obito continued walking, unbothered by the chaos around him. "At least this wasn't a wasted trip," he muttered. "It's confirmed—Naruto has taken control of Kabuto's Edo Tensei pawns. But even the strongest genjutsu, Kotoamatsukami, has no effect on my Kamui."

As he neared the village's edge, Violet hurled a kunai.

Naruto Uzumaki and Shikaku Nara appeared, emerging from the kunai's teleportation mark. Naruto formed a hand seal, aiming at Obito.

"Mind Body Switch Technique!"

Obito kept walking.

Naruto lowered his hand. "As I thought. Mind Body Switch doesn't work on you. It's called Kamui, isn't it? Uchiha Fugaku's eyes truly are extraordinary."

Obito passed through Naruto, heading toward the Four Red Yang Formation barrier.

"Obito," Shikaku called out, his shadow extending to merge with Obito's. "Don't leave just yet. Let's talk."

Obito halted, his feet rooted by the Shadow Imitation Technique.

Shikaku smiled. "Don't be so dismissive. Since you're here, why not hear us out?"

Obito's voice was icy. "I have nothing to say to you."

Shikaku's smile deepened. "But we have plenty to say to you. Let's start with this: the Infinite Tsukuyomi is a lie."
