Naruto: The Puppeteer with Magnet Release

After a comfortable sleep, Shindai got up from bed.

Feeling a bit hungry, he checked the time—his food should have arrived by now.

"I just hope it's not flatbread again. The water here is already bitter and sour, and paired with flatbread, it's like a duo of terrible flavors—twice as bad."

Rubbing his eyes, Shindai muttered to himself while walking toward the door.

When he opened the door, he saw a figure standing there, and his heart tightened.

An assassin trying to kill him?!

Because if it were the Third Kazekage, he wouldn't be standing at the door.

As a busy leader, the Kazekage would just push the door open and get straight to business.

Instinctively, Shindai tried to shut the door, but the person outside pressed a hand against it, stopping him.

Just as Shindai was about to fight back, a familiar voice called out, "Hey, it's been so long, and you're still this antisocial?"

"Hm?"

Shindai looked up and saw a familiar face—his only friend in Sunagakure, Pakura.

He immediately sighed in relief. The ninja world was terrifying, and he was getting paranoid.

Confused, Shindai asked, "Weren't you out on a mission?"

Pakura rolled her eyes. "Of course, I finished the mission and came back. I even brought you something delicious."

She held up a bag of food and, without hesitation, pushed the door open, walked in, set the food on the table, and plopped down on Shindai's bed.

As she sat there, her eyes landed on a puppet standing at the foot of the bed—a beautifully crafted, well-endowed female puppet.

Then, she looked down at her own chest and, feeling displeased, grumbled, "Can you stop having such perverted thoughts? Puppets are for combat, not… other things. Why not make a male puppet instead?"

Shindai, busy checking out the food, shot back, "Clearly, you're the one with the dirty mind. What's wrong with making my puppet look good? Nothing at all!"

"If I made a male puppet, then I'd be the one with a problem. I'm a guy—why would I make a male puppet? People might start questioning my… preferences. My puppet is pleasing to the eye! Just looking at it when I'm in a bad mood cheers me up."

"And another thing—I'm not antisocial, I'm just cautious!"

When Shindai saw what Pakura had brought, his eyes lit up.

Sushi.

Unable to wait, he grabbed a piece and popped it into his mouth.

A rare moment of delicious food—he felt like crying from happiness.

After devouring several pieces, he asked, "How long are you staying in the village this time?"

"Not long," Pakura replied. "If it's urgent, I might have to leave again as soon as tomorrow."

Shindai was surprised. "That soon?"

Pakura sighed. "Even someone like you, holed up at home all the time, should've heard by now. The entire ninja world is tense—war could break out in the Land of Wind at any moment."

Shindai smirked. "War? Here? Any ninja from another country would have to be brain-dead to attack this resource-starved wasteland."

Pakura, who took great pride in Sunagakure, immediately protested, "What do you mean, resource-starved?! The Land of Wind has plenty of resources!"

Shindai raised an eyebrow. "Like what?"

"Like… like… uh…"

Pakura's voice grew quieter as she struggled to name anything.

Shindai didn't mock her. Instead, he sighed.

Pakura was six years older than him.

Shindai was ten, while Pakura was already sixteen and a jonin.

Their first meeting had been purely accidental.

When Shindai was four, his house had become cluttered with trash. Too timid to go outside during the day, he waited until nightfall to take out the garbage.

His sneaky behavior caught the attention of ten-year-old Pakura, who thought he was up to no good and immediately tackled him to the ground.

After clearing up the misunderstanding, the two gradually became friends.

Pakura treated Shindai like a little brother.

Shindai, on the other hand, saw her as his dearest friend.

He knew her future was tragic. Seeing how much she loved and believed in Sunagakure, he wondered how devastated she would be when the village ultimately betrayed her.

"Don't just do whatever you're told," Shindai warned. "You always charge into danger headfirst. Think things through—your safety comes first."

Pakura frowned. "Why do I sound so dumb when you say it like that? Don't underestimate me! I have a title now, you know! Pakura of the Scorch Release! Pretty impressive, right?"

Proudly, she puffed out her chest.

Shindai pursed his lips and half-heartedly replied, "Yeah, yeah, you're amazing."

Pakura, not noticing the sarcasm, beamed happily at the praise.

Then she asked, "What about you, Shindai? You're so strong, but you keep hiding your abilities and won't let me tell anyone. The village needs ninjas like you right now! If we fight together, we could protect our home. You could be a hero!"

Shindai lazily waved her off. "No thanks, I'm not interested. Fighting? Terrifying. The moment I step onto the battlefield, my legs would shake, and I'd faint on the spot. I'd just be dead weight."

"My dream isn't to be a hero—it's to have two wives in the future. If you're willing, you can be my second wife."

Pakura's eyes widened in fury. "Why am I the second wife?!"

Shindai replied matter-of-factly, "Because you've got a bad temper. If you were my first wife, you'd never let me have a second one. My first wife has to be gentle."

His face took on a dreamy expression.

Was he greedy? Wanting just one wife didn't feel like enough. But was he too greedy? No, two was just right—more than that would be too much work.

Pakura's face turned red. "You're dreaming! I wouldn't even be your second wife! No—there's no way I'd ever marry you! I see you as a little brother!"

Shindai glanced at her flushed face and barely held back a laugh. "Yeah, yeah, I was just joking. Why are you taking it so seriously?"

Pakura clenched her fists. In the end, she couldn't hold back any longer.

She shot up from the bed, stormed over to Shindai, and smacked him hard across the face.

Ah… Now she felt much better.
