Chapter 323: Chapter 323: Call Me Grandpa
As Madara finished speaking, everyone in the office turned their eyes to him.
Senju Tobirama rested his chin on one hand and looked at Uchiha Madara with interest.
For Madara to say something like this, it meant he was no longer considering being an enemy of Konohagakure.
That so-called "Eye of the Moon" plan must have already been abandoned.
His relationship with Raijin had also reached a certain level.
Seeing this version of Madara, a thought that Tobirama normally wouldn't have suddenly crossed his mind.
Sarutobi Hiruzen and Shimura Danzo were in disbelief after hearing Madara's words.
But after thinking about it, they had to admit he had a point.
Honestly, no one wanted any changes to the Hokage position.
Especially Sarutobi Hiruzen and the others, who were disciples of the Second Hokage.
If Tsunade became Hokage, that would be understandable—after all, the first two Hokage were both from the Senju clan.
With Senju Tobirama retired and Uchiha Raijin, who had married Tsunade, supporting her, she had enough influence to hold onto the Hokage seat firmly.
But if it were anyone else, keeping that position wouldn't be easy.
That guy—he didn't even listen to Tsunade. Who else could he possibly listen to?
"Uh... Madara-senpai does make a good point. Konohagakure is facing a crisis right now, and changing the Hokage at this time would have a huge impact."
Raijin nodded in agreement at first, acknowledging Madara's reasoning while also scrambling in his mind to find a flaw he could argue against.
"But... since no one knows exactly when Otsutsuki Momoshiki will appear in the shinobi world, we should indeed be prepared, but we also shouldn't be overly cautious because of it."
Pressing his lips together, Raijin looked at Uchiha Madara and spoke.
Madara chuckled lightly at Raijin's quick response, his eyes filled with amusement. He was secretly quite pleased.
Not bad. His ability to react on the spot is impressive...
To come up with something like that in such a short time.
Even though the argument was a bit forced.
Madara knew very well that Raijin had never considered the possibility that this order would be questioned.
On one hand, he thought Madara wouldn't interfere in such matters. On the other hand, no one else would dare to.
Besides, throughout history, people never really cared about who stepped down—what they cared about was who would take over.
"And selecting a new Hokage is actually meant to lead Konohagakure toward a brighter future.
So, the Hokage must be replaced. This is for the better development of the village.
It's also to give Konohagakure a fresh new image."
Raijin spoke more smoothly as he went on. After finishing, he looked at the other shinobi in the room.
"Then who do you want to take over as Hokage?"
Madara casually nodded at the question. He was just joking around with Raijin and wasn't planning to keep pushing the topic.
"Deciding who becomes Hokage isn't up to me. I'm just the captain of the Hokage Guard. My duty is simple: support the Hokage's decisions and ensure the Hokage's safety."
Raijin spoke with a firm and righteous tone as he addressed Uchiha Madara.
Madara pressed his lips together, feeling a little helpless. This guy… seriously… could use a good lesson.
"Of course, I'll also be stepping down as captain of the Hokage Guard today. My son, Uchiha Tatsu, will take over the position."
Raijin continued speaking to the gathered shinobi.
"Huh? No way."
Tatsu immediately shook his head. Captain of the Hokage Guard?
Come on, the current members of that squad—whenever he sees any of them, he has to bow and call them 'uncle.'
"Tatsu, you have to do it."
Raijin said in a serious tone.
Come on… this was just about stepping down from a position. Why did it have to be so complicated? It's just a title—it's not like he actually had to do anything.
The Hokage Guard hadn't even gathered in years. If he couldn't do this little favor, was he even his father's son?
"Look… I really don't want to do it."
Tatsu pursed his lips and spoke to Raijin.
Honestly, as things were now, he had no official position. He was just an ordinary Jonin of Konohagakure. Today, he could drop by the village's research center. Tomorrow, he could go have a meal at Madara's place.
Wasn't that life much better than becoming the captain of the Hokage Guard?
"Tatsu, you have to do it."
The same words echoed again. Tatsu immediately straightened up and looked toward Tsunade, who was standing beside Raijin, feeling a headache coming on.
"Fine…"
He muttered reluctantly. If it were just Raijin, he could argue back a little. After all, Raijin was reasonable.
But Tsunade? No way. She didn't care about reason—she only knew how to punch people.
And it hurt. A lot.
"As for the position of Hokage, Namikaze Minato will take over. He's already been handling related affairs for years, so there's no need for a transition period."
Tsunade continued after finishing her statement.
Minato stood silently, not saying a word. He just kept his head down.
"Is it really appropriate for Minato to become Hokage?"
As soon as Tsunade finished speaking, the room fell silent for a moment.
But soon, Shimura Danzo spoke up and questioned her.
To be honest, many had thought about Tatsu taking over as Hokage.
But once Tatsu became the captain of the Hokage Guard, people started considering Ryuri for the position instead.
Basically, whether it was Tatsu or Ryuri taking the role, everyone could accept it.
But Namikaze Minato?
That just didn't sit right with them.
Why him?
How many missions had he even done?
Just because he was Jiraiya's student?
Then what about me, a student of the Second Hokage? Or is it just because he's been handling paperwork for a few years?
If that's all it takes, then I could do it too.
If the Hokage position isn't going to be passed down based on strength and influence, then don't blame me, Danzo, for having thoughts of my own.
"Sounds good."
Raijin smiled as he spoke to Shimura Danzo.
"I think this might not be the best idea..."
Sarutobi Hiruzen hesitated as he responded to Raijin.
Minato was too young—really, in every sense of the word.
"Sounds good."
Tsunade chuckled lightly and said the same thing to Sarutobi Hiruzen.
It didn't really matter who thought it was a good idea. What mattered was what the current Hokage decided.
"Tsunade-sama, I don't think I'm really the right person for this..."
Standing beside Tsunade, Namikaze Minato spoke in a quiet voice.
Minato had already expected people to oppose him.
After all, it was hard for him to win everyone over.
"This is ridiculous."
Uchiha Madara rested his chin on one hand, watching the scene unfold with a quiet remark.
"Forget it. If Tsunade believes Minato is capable of being Hokage, then let him give it a try."
At that moment, Senju Tobirama spoke up, settling the matter decisively.
Sarutobi Hiruzen and Shimura Danzo pursed their lips in frustration but said nothing.
Since Senju Tobirama had spoken, there was no point in arguing further.
When it came to Raijin and Tsunade, Sarutobi Hiruzen was their teacher, and Shimura Danzo was their peer.
But when it came to Senju Tobirama, they just had to listen and obey.
"However, even though Tsunade is no longer Hokage, if she wants to leave the village, she has to report to me in advance. Each trip can't be longer than two months, and there must be at least fifteen days between each trip."
After saying that, Senju Tobirama turned back to Tsunade.
"Wait a second—"
Before he could finish, Tsunade immediately stood up, ready to argue with him.
But Raijin quickly grabbed her arm.
"It's fine. With Flying Thunder God, it won't be a problem."
Leaning close to her ear, Raijin whispered his reassurance.
"Alright then~"
Tsunade suppressed her frustration and forced a smile at Senju Tobirama.
"Alright, then that's settled. Now, there's something else I want to bring up."
Senju Tobirama nodded and stood up, turning his gaze toward Uchiha Madara.
"I also hope to get Madara's approval."
As he spoke, he lowered his head in a respectful bow toward Uchiha Madara.
"I want to revive my older brother. I hope Madara will agree."
Madara stood up, looking at Senju Tobirama bowing before him, remaining silent.
As Senju Tobirama bowed to Madara, everyone else in the office stood up as well.
Senju Tobirama might not be the strongest in Konohagakure, but in terms of seniority, he was definitely one of the highest.
No one spoke. They just silently watched what was happening in front of them.
Everyone knew about the long-standing grudge between Madara and Hashirama.
Tsunade quietly squeezed Raijin's hand. Raijin turned to look at her and saw the longing in her eyes.
Raijin gently held Tsunade's hand in return and gave a barely noticeable nod.
If he could help, he definitely would. But first, they had to wait for Madara's decision.
No one else dared to persuade Uchiha Madara on such a sensitive matter.
But Raijin dared.
After all, there wasn't much Madara could do to him anyway.
"Revive Hashirama, huh..."
Madara chuckled softly at the words, took two steps forward, and helped Senju Tobirama up.
"You've developed a technique that can bring Hashirama back? You really are the master of forbidden jutsu."
Standing in front of Senju Tobirama, Madara adjusted his clothes slightly.
"This didn't just happen yesterday, did it?"
After a brief pause, Uchiha Madara continued questioning Senju Tobirama.
"I've had it for a while," Senju Tobirama replied, pressing his lips together.
He wasn't afraid of Uchiha Madara attacking him. After all, he was merely asking for Madara's approval.
Madara could simply choose to refuse.
Of course, if Madara wanted to risk breaking ties with Konohagakure and kill him, it wasn't impossible.
But Tobirama didn't think Madara would do something that foolish.
If Madara really couldn't control the urge to kill him, he would have done it long ago.
"Of course. Why wouldn't I agree?"
Madara let out a light laugh and responded without hesitation.
Senju Tobirama, however, didn't relax in the slightest.
For Madara to agree so easily, there had to be conditions.
"Why didn't you tell me earlier that you developed this technique?"
Madara's smile faded, and his tone carried a hint of reproach.
"If it can bring Hashirama back, then it should work on Izuna as well, right?"
As he spoke, Madara took out a small container with some blood inside and handed it to Senju Tobirama.
"Of course."
Only at this moment did Senju Tobirama finally let out a relieved smile.
Uchiha Izuna's return wouldn't affect the current situation in any way.
It was just fulfilling Madara's wish.
Just like reviving Hashirama was merely fulfilling his own.
"By the way, this jutsu of yours… it doesn't have any side effects, does it?"
Madara suddenly turned to Senju Tobirama.
If the revived Izumi wasn't truly the same Izumi, Madara felt he might do something unimaginable.
"There are no side effects. The body used to bring Izumi back is cloned using Izumi's own cells, so it's completely identical to when she was alive."
Senju Tobirama immediately explained to Uchiha Madara.
"As for the consciousness, I once developed a ninjutsu related to souls called Edo Tensei. It allows me to summon the souls of the dead from the Pure Land. Originally, this jutsu was designed to be used alongside Explosive Tags."
"That's good… Please, do it as quickly as possible."
Madara pursed his lips, nodded, and spoke to Senju Tobirama.
"Don't worry, you'll see Uchiha Izumi very soon."
Tobirama nodded, tucking the container holding Izumi's blood into his robe.
Exchanging a glance with Orochimaru, the two of them vanished from the Hokage's office.
"I didn't expect you to keep Izumi's blood all this time."
Raijin waved his hand and took two steps forward, standing in front of Uchiha Madara.
The others gradually left the Hokage's office.
"You wiped out the entire Kumogakure for your brother. Can't I at least hold on to the last bit of memory of my younger brother?"
Madara fell silent for a moment, then spoke to Raijin.
"Of course, you can."
Raijin chuckled and shook his head, then continued,
"So, do you still want to talk? Or should we wait until Izumi is revived?"
"Let's wait until Izumi is back. Damn… I'm starting to feel excited again."
A smile crept onto Madara's face, one he couldn't hide.
The thought of his brother being revived stirred emotions in him that he hadn't felt in years.
He could hardly wait…
"Actually, I'm even more looking forward to the moment you meet Hashirama again."
Raijin raised an eyebrow and looked at Madara.
"He was the one who wronged me, not the other way around. Why should I be afraid?"
Madara raised an eyebrow and spoke indifferently.
"Call him Grandpa."
Just then, Tsunade nudged Raijin's arm and whispered.
