Naruto The Thunder Calamity

Chapter 322: Chapter 322, Madara: I Disagree

Around noon, Tsunade was lazily lying on the chair Raijin used to love, enjoying the sunshine.

It was almost mealtime, but Tsunade didn't have any appetite.

Raijin had been gone for two years... and still hadn't returned...

"If I'm not home, will you refuse to eat?"

Just as Tsunade was lost in thought, Raijin's voice suddenly sounded next to her ear.

"You're back?" Tsunade blinked in surprise, looking up at Raijin, who had appeared beside her without her noticing.

She reached out and gently touched Raijin's cheek.

"Taking advantage of me."

Raijin raised an eyebrow and said to Tsunade, "What's wrong?"

"What's wrong?" Tsunade snorted coldly, looking at Raijin in disdain.

"What can I do?" Raijin smiled helplessly, reaching up to tap Tsunade's forehead.

"You look like you've made some progress, huh?" Tsunade sat up and asked Raijin.

"What do I look like now?" Raijin raised an eyebrow and asked her.

"Well... I can't quite say, but something about you feels different than before."

Tsunade thought for a while, trying to find the right word, but couldn't come up with one.

If she had to describe it, it would be that Raijin in front of her felt a bit unreal.

It was like he was here, but also not here.

It felt strange.

"The only real breakthrough method is still to keep absorbing the natural energy between heaven and earth, slowly improving one's own quality," Raijin said to Tsunade.

This was also a conclusion Raijin had reached over the past period.

Senjutsu, strictly speaking, wasn't much different from the Otsutsuki clan's method of planting trees.

Senjutsu is about absorbing the natural energy that's everywhere in the world to strengthen oneself.

The Otsutsuki clan plants the God Tree on a planet to absorb the planet's power and bear the God Fruit.

To be honest, the so-called power of a planet is really just natural energy.

Essentially, both Senjutsu and the Otsutsuki clan's method of planting trees are ways of exploiting the planet's energy.

They take the planet's power to strengthen themselves and improve their life level.

But this kind of strengthening is very slow.

And, theoretically, permanent Senjutsu should be very slow to practice at first.

The reason why it seems to progress in stages is actually due to one reason.

People in the ninja world naturally have chakra within them.

As long as they open the Eight Gates in their body, they can instantly gain incredible strength.

So, after Raijin opened all the Eight Gates, his growth in strength became incredibly slow.

Since trying to use only natural energy to increase his life level is slow, the breakthrough lies in how well he can use natural energy.

Simply put, it's about leveraging.

Using oneself as a pivot to move more natural energy for personal gain.

And how to leverage it? This is the method Raijin has discovered over the past two years.

He learned to understand the rules of how natural energy works and let himself merge with nature.

The former was difficult for Raijin, but the latter, Raijin could do easily.

It was only now that Raijin truly understood the incredible power of the Thunder Fruit.

The Thunder Fruit gave Raijin the ability to change into a natural element form at any time.

The elemental transformation from the Thunder Fruit was more like allowing Raijin to turn into a completely different life form.

Raijin could be a human or a thunderbolt.

This made it easy for Raijin to merge with the world around him.

"Don't tell me this is what you've figured out after two years," Tsunade said, looking at Raijin in disbelief.

"Yes, but not entirely," Raijin shook his head and replied to Tsunade.

"The breakthrough is about understanding the rules of how this world works and then merging with it."

"Huh?" Tsunade froze, her eyes filled with confusion.

Honestly, she didn't understand.

"What effect does it have?"

Clearly, Tsunade was more focused on the result than the process.

Although it sounded hard to understand, so what?

Tsunade didn't believe that Raijin couldn't teach her, and she wouldn't be able to learn it.

"The effect is that if I fight Madara again, he will be rejected by this world," Raijin said to Tsunade.

"Impressive," Tsunade nodded in awe, then finally said to Raijin.

"How's the village doing?"

Raijin bent slightly and asked Tsunade.

"Very peaceful," Tsunade said, leaning back in the chair, her eyes lost in the distant, blazing sun.

"It's a little too peaceful… almost boring…"

After pausing for a moment, Tsunade continued speaking to Raijin.

"How's the experiment on safely extracting the Tailed Beasts going?"

Hearing this, Raijin asked Tsunade,

"It's already done. All the Tailed Beasts have been extracted and sealed inside the Gedo Statue. Hmm… maybe we should start calling it the Ten-Tails now? Madara has sealed it away in the Heavenly Prison using Chibaku Tensei."

Tsunade nodded at Raijin's words.

"That's good."

Raijin gave a small nod in response. By now, he and Madara had built enough trust between them.

It was just the Ten-Tails. If Madara wanted to keep it, it wasn't really a big deal.

"If you're bored, why don't we go out for a bit?"

Raijin suggested as he looked at Tsunade.

"Besides, you've been Hokage for so many years now. Maybe it's time to let Minato take over? We can go out and travel together."

"Hmm? Sounds good!"

Tsunade raised an eyebrow but didn't hesitate at all before replying to Raijin.

"Let's go find Minato right now."

Without wasting any time, Tsunade got up from her chair, grabbed Raijin's hand, and headed outside.

"In such a rush?"

Raijin followed alongside her and asked as they walked.

"Honestly, I don't want to be Hokage for even one more day."

Tsunade spoke without a hint of hesitation.

Even though, ever since taking the position, she hadn't really done much,

She still felt how much being Hokage had restricted her.

Seriously, once you become Hokage, even if you can delegate all the work to others,

Leaving the village freely is no longer an option.

And right now, Konohagakure had nothing going on.

Sure, there could be big threats in the future.

But in reality, there was still a long time before any of those so-called threats arrived.

Tsunade had no intention of staying cooped up in Konohagakure until Otsutsuki Momoshiki appeared.

Even if the worst happened and Momoshiki turned out to be far stronger than anyone expected,

At least she and Raijin would have spent a long, peaceful, and happy time together before that.

In the end, even if they died, so what?

Everyone dies eventually. What matters isn't how long you live, but how fulfilling your life is.

…

"What?"

In his office, Namikaze Minato looked up from his paperwork, stunned at the sight of Raijin and Tsunade standing there together.

For a moment, Minato even forgot to greet Raijin.

Because what Tsunade had just said was too shocking.

"You heard me right. From this moment on, you're the Fourth Hokage of Konohagakure."

Tsunade spoke to Minato.

"Huh? I don't think I'm really suited for the job…"

Minato pressed his lips together when he heard that and spoke to Tsunade.

"I said you're the right choice, so you're the right choice. Just listen."

Tsunade turned to Namikaze Minato and said,

"Oh, by the way, pass on a message for me. From now on, Uchiha Shin will take over as the captain of the Raijin Hokage Guard. Raijin and I are leaving now. If anything happens in the village, just use a Flying Thunder God Kunai to notify Raijin."

With that, Tsunade turned to leave.

"Wait a second."

Raijin sighed and grabbed Tsunade's arm.

"That's all you're going to say? What's the point of that?

At the very least, you should call a high-level meeting to officially announce it, right?"

"You have a point. Let's hold the meeting now. Raijin and I will wait here for everyone to arrive."

Hearing this, Tsunade immediately turned to Namikaze Minato.

"Alright."

Minato nodded, and in the next moment, his figure vanished.

To be honest, Minato truly didn't feel like he was suited to be Hokage.

Tsunade was the Hokage, Raijin was the captain of the Hokage Guard, and on top of that, they were husband and wife.

Even though they didn't handle Konohagakure's affairs regularly, no one ever questioned their authority.

The reason was simple—Tsunade was strong, and Raijin was even stronger.

When those two spoke, some people might not like it, but they had no choice but to obey.

But Minato was different. He was far from their level, even with Raijin and Tsunade backing him.

Sure, he could sit in the Hokage's seat, but when it came to actually giving orders…

Minato couldn't guarantee that people would follow his commands.

So even if he became Hokage, all it really meant was that another face would be carved onto the Hokage Rock.

Nothing else would change.

Who would actually listen to him?

Uchiha Madara? Senju Tobirama? Sarutobi Hiruzen? Shimura Danzo? Or even Raijin and Tsunade? He would just keep doing what he had always been doing.

The only thing he'd gain was the title of Hokage.

And that wasn't necessarily a good thing. It would put him under everyone's scrutiny.

People would start thinking, "If Namikaze Minato can become Hokage, why can't I?"

But there was nothing he could do about it. Tsunade clearly wasn't asking for his opinion.

So all Minato could do was follow orders.

It didn't take long for all the key figures of Konohagakure to gather in the Hokage's office.

"You're back?"

Inside the office, Senju Tobirama looked at Raijin, who was sitting next to Tsunade in the Hokage's seat, and asked.

"Yeah, I'm back."

Raijin nodded.

"How did it go?"

Senju Tobirama asked again.

"Ah… not bad at all. Once you all open all eight gates, I'll tell you how to break through to the next level."

Raijin looked at the assembled shinobi and said.

"How about we do some training later?"

As Raijin finished speaking, Madara turned to him and said,

"Alright."

Raijin nodded in response, not rejecting Madara's proposal.

To be honest, Raijin was also curious to see how much his breakthrough had improved his strength.

Sometimes, real combat is the best way to understand oneself.

"I've gathered you all here today to announce something."

Tsunade, standing nearby, addressed the gathered shinobi.

Upon hearing this, everyone immediately turned their attention to her.

Normally, Raijin and Tsunade rarely made official announcements in person.

But whenever they did, it was always about something important.

Could it be that Otsutsuki Momoshiki has already arrived in the ninja world?

That thought naturally crossed everyone's minds.

"After careful consideration, I've decided to step down as Hokage."

As all eyes focused on her, Tsunade made her announcement.

Senju Tobirama remained completely unfazed.

To be honest, the position of Hokage wasn't that important for Konohagakure anymore.

Stepping down wouldn't cost Tsunade anything.

As long as Raijin and Madara were still around, and as long as she and the Senju clan remained,

Tsunade's influence in the village would never diminish.

So to Senju Tobirama, Tsunade's words conveyed only one message.

She just…

wanted to go have fun.

But that wasn't really a problem.

Right now, Konohagakure didn't necessarily need both Raijin and Madara guarding it at the same time.

These two idiots…

Madara glanced at Raijin and Tsunade, silently cursing them in his mind.

Great, just great.

The two of them wanted to leave the village and leave him to protect it alone?

No, seriously, what were they thinking?

At that moment, Madara suddenly felt that the Infinite Tsukuyomi plan might actually be necessary.

At least it would give these two something to do, so they wouldn't get too bored!

So…

"I don't agree."

With his arms crossed, Madara spoke directly to Tsunade.

His thoughts were simple—if he had to stay in Konohagakure, then so did they.

No one was running away.

Tsunade pursed her lips at his response, looking at Madara with slight frustration.

At the same time, she nudged Raijin with her elbow.

Honestly, if it were anyone else, she could just force them into submission.

But Madara? That wouldn't work.

This had to be handled by Raijin.

"Madara-senpai, do you have any objections?"

Raijin smiled slightly, pressing his lips together.

How interesting.

What could he do?

He didn't have a choice either.

But there was no other choice. Raijin had to bite the bullet and ask Madara.

"The arrival of Otsutsuki Momoshiki is just around the corner. This is the time when Konohagakure needs to unite and stand together against external threats. At such a crucial moment, how can we talk about changing the Hokage?"
