Naruto: To Hell This Suicide System

Chapter 103: [102] The Resolve of the Suna-nin

The next day.

Tengen bid farewell to Mitarashi Anko and Yuhi Kurenai, then departed Konoha alongside Namikaze Minato.

This secret mission, known only to a few of Konoha's top brass, remained hidden from most.

Recent odd movements from Sunagakure in the Land of Wind, coupled with frequent conflicts, prompted Sarutobi Hiruzen to investigate the cause.

The worst-case scenario: war between the two nations, starting with clashes among the major ninja villages. Without neutralizing a nation's elite forces, occupying it would be meaningless.

The Land of Fire held the richest lands in the ninja world, a prize coveted by the other four great ninja villages.

The Second Ninja World War stemmed largely from this, and vaguely, the Third Hokage felt an ominous premonition.

Through Konoha's forests, two figures darted swiftly.

"Tengen, such speed! You've grown much stronger since the Chunin Exams." Namikaze Minato remarked while moving.

"Minato, you're impressive too." Tengen grinned. "By the way, for our route to Sunagakure, which way should we go?"

"We'll avoid the Land of Rain, pass through the Land of Rivers, then enter the Land of Wind. How's that?" Namikaze Minato suggested.

"No problem here." Tengen replied. "I've heard the Land of Rivers has been restless lately."

"I know a bit about that. Rumor has it a group called 'Gen' has emerged there, with many ninjas. They seem focused on commerce, not serving as the Land of Rivers' armed force." Namikaze Minato shook his head.

Typically, ninja villages acted as a nation's military, but the Land of Rivers and this 'Gen' faction existed in an odd symbiosis.

Perhaps a unique mutual reliance: Gen drove and protected the Land of Rivers, while the nation provided a platform for the faction.

"They say their leaders are formidable, some at Kage level, or even beyond. Sunagakure sent ninjas to probe them, only to suffer a crushing defeat." Namikaze Minato continued.

"That sounds intriguing." Tengen smiled.

Listening to Minato describe this faction, Tengen felt a strange sensation, after all, he was its top leader, rumored to surpass Kage-level strength.

"But our focus now isn't that faction, but Sunagakure." Namikaze Minato noted Tengen's odd look, assuming he was curious to test this group in the Land of Rivers.

"Don't worry, I'm just intrigued by them." Tengen laughed.

"Tengen, how about a speed contest?" Namikaze Minato suddenly proposed.

"Minato, I'm a taijutsu specialist. Are you sure you want to race me?" Tengen eyed him curiously.

Challenging a taijutsu expert to a speed contest was laughable.

Like Might Guy, who, in the future, opened the Eight Gates, moving so fast even Six Paths Madara could barely react.

"Let's try it." Namikaze Minato drew a kunai.

"Flying Thunder God Technique." Tengen noted.

"Exactly. Here we go." Namikaze Minato flicked the kunai, which vanished from Tengen's sight, and Minato disappeared swiftly after.

"Minato, that's cheating!" Tengen flashed away in pursuit.

As for the Flying Thunder God Technique?

Well, Tengen didn't use it, not to hide it, but because he saw no need.

Naturally, Namikaze Minato didn't know Tengen also wielded the Flying Thunder God Technique.

As Tengen and Namikaze Minato headed toward Sunagakure…

In a dusty, loess-strewn region of the Land of Wind.

Buildings here, crafted from packed earth, marked this as Sunagakure.

Most of the Land of Wind bore this harsh climate.

No wonder, among the great nations, the Land of Wind craved the Land of Fire's fertile lands most.

Anyone could see the stark contrast between the two.

One word summed up the Land of Wind: bleak.

In a sturdy, ancient building etched with the symbol of wind, the Kazekage's office,

Rasa, acting Kazekage, stood present.

Alongside him were familiar figures: Chiyo, Ebizo, and other notable Suna-nin.

At the room's center, a respectful ninja stood, dressed as a Sunagakure Jonin.

"You're saying Iwagakure has agreed to our alliance, while Kumogakure remains on the sidelines, yet to respond?" Rasa addressed the ninja.

"Yes, Kazekage-sama." the Suna-nin replied promptly. "This is the letter from the Tsuchikage."

"Give it to me." Rasa took the letter without hesitation, read its contents, then crumpled it. "You may leave."

"Yes, Kazekage-sama." the Suna-nin retreated swiftly.

"This letter, penned by the Tsuchikage, confirms our two villages will attack the Land of Fire and Konoha. As for Kumogakure, you heard, they're still watching." Rasa announced.

"Kumogakure likely hopes to profit from our move." Chiyo said coolly.

"Advisor Chiyo, you're likely right. But if our two villages strike Konoha, Kumogakure might not resist joining." Rasa replied.

"I agree." a Suna-nin nodded.

Clearly, those gathered here were Sunagakure's top ranks.

"So, what's everyone's decision?" Rasa scanned the room.

"It's time to claim what's ours, and avenge the Second Ninja World War." a middle-aged Suna-nin said coldly.

"The Land of Fire has such rich lands. We're quite envious." another added.

The decision crystallized.

"Assemble the Suna-nins, prepare to attack Konoha, and maintain constant contact with Iwagakure." Rasa declared.

The Third Ninja World War loomed on the horizon.
