For a moment, Izuna and Senju Hashirama both turned their attention to the Kaguya ninja who objected.
The Kaguya ninja looked resolute as he addressed Hashirama. "Chief Senju, isn't this the perfect opportunity to eliminate the Uchiha leaders? Uchiha Madara is incapacitated, and although Uchiha Izuna is strong, he is surrounded. If we kill Madara now, we can focus all our strength on taking down Izuna. It's our best chance!"
It wasn't just him—many of the remaining Kaguya ninjas clearly shared this sentiment.
Madara was vulnerable, and killing him seemed easy. With Hashirama, one of the "Two Heroes of the Warring States," present, along with the remaining Kaguya forces, they believed Izuna could also be defeated.
"Hahaha! Well said!"
Izuna burst out laughing, his mocking tone resonating in the battlefield's eerie silence. He stretched out a hand toward Hashirama, smirking. "Why don't we settle it right now, Hashirama? Give me back my useless elder brother, and I'll fight you both here and now."
Hashirama sighed inwardly, his expression weary. The Kaguya ninja had underestimated Izuna's power and resilience.
Even without summoning the (Two-Tails), Izuna's destructive power was enough to wipe out what remained of Kaguya Village.
Hashirama didn't know that Izuna no longer controlled the Two-tails but he fully understood that Izuna's strength alone could annihilate the Kaguya clan.
Shaking his head, Hashirama firmly responded, "No."
He turned to Izuna and proposed, "Let's retreat to the west coast. Once there, I'll return Madara to you. Agreed?"
Despite their earlier bravado, many Kaguya ninjas were visibly frustrated.
Their leader had died, and the chance for revenge on Madara seemed within reach. Yet Hashirama was proposing an exchange instead.
Anger and distrust simmered among the Kaguya.
"Is Hashirama trying to protect Madara?" one whispered.
"Why didn't he let us finish them off?"
Such suspicion was rampant in the Warring States Period, where alliances were fragile, and betrayals were common.
Hashirama, however, remained calm. His resolve to avoid further unnecessary bloodshed was unwavering.
Izuna, observing the hostility, chuckled darkly. "I could've wiped out the entire Kaguya clan tonight. Be grateful I'm walking away."
With that, Izuna turned and began heading toward the west coast, his tone as cold as the wind.
Hashirama, carrying Madara, followed behind.
"Please wait for me here," Hashirama told Kaguya Takeri before leaving the village.
As soon as Hashirama and Izuna were out of sight, the remaining Kaguya ninjas gathered around Kaguya Takeri, voicing their anger.
"Lord Takeri, are we really letting them go?"
"So many of our brothers and sisters are dead. How can we just let this slide?"
"Madara was helpless in Hashirama's hands! Why didn't we strike?"
Takeri's expression hardened. "Enough! The decision has been made. Focus on tending to the wounded and handling the aftermath. We will discuss everything else once Chief Hashirama returns."
Though dissatisfied, the Kaguya ninjas reluctantly obeyed.
Hours later, on the west coast of the Land of Fire, Hashirama fulfilled his promise, returning Madara to Izuna. The two other captured Uchiha were also released.
Izuna glanced at his unconscious brother and smirked. "This must feel like the ultimate humiliation for him. Once he recovers, he'll be out for blood. I'm sure you'll be his first target."
Hashirama smiled faintly. "That's just like Madara, isn't it?"
But his tone turned serious as he addressed Izuna. "You know about the dream Madara and I shared, right? A dream of building a village where no one has to fight. Where children can grow up without fear."
Izuna looked at Hashirama with disbelief, his expression bordering on amusement.
"If Uchiha and Senju unite," Hashirama continued passionately, "the other clans and lords will be forced to notice us. Together, we could..."
Hashirama's words faltered under Izuna's unimpressed stare.
Izuna's voice was sharp and cutting. "The Senju are already gathering forces to attack us, and you want to talk about dreams? Are you serious right now?"
Hashirama winced. He realized the timing of his idealistic talk was completely inappropriate.
Still, he pressed on. "But don't you agree? With you, Madara, Tobirama, and me working together, we could end this cycle of war!"
Izuna's expression turned cold. "Maybe I trust your sincerity, Hashirama. But your brother Tobirama? He'd stab me in the back the first chance he got."
After a moment of silence, Izuna relented. "Let's talk about dreams after this war is over."
Summoning a ninja hawk, Izuna carefully placed Madara and the two other Uchiha on its back before mounting it himself.
"Madara's injuries were severe," Hashirama added. "I used my Wood Release to stabilize him, but he needs time to recover. Don't let him fight in the next battle."
Izuna checked Madara's condition and confirmed Hashirama's claim. His brother's wounds were healing, with new tissue forming.
"Tch, always the healer," Izuna muttered under his breath. He patted the ninja hawk and signaled it to take off.
As the hawk ascended into the sky, Izuna looked back one last time. "Next time, I won't hold back, Hashirama."
Hashirama stood on the beach, watching the hawk disappear into the horizon.
By the time Hashirama returned to the Kaguya village, dawn had broken.
The remaining Kaguya ninjas avoided his gaze, their expressions cold and resentful.
Hashirama could feel their hostility. He sighed, understanding their frustration. They had lost so many people, and he had denied them revenge on Madara.
For Hashirama, however, this was a necessary price to prevent further bloodshed.
He headed straight for the village's main hall, where Kaguya Takeri awaited, ready to discuss the aftermath.
