Neurolink System in the Modern World

Chapter 474 After

The light streamed through the window, stinging my eyes as they slowly open. Above me stretched a plain white ceiling.

"Where am I?" I croaked, my voice dry.

But amidst the confusion, a more pressing question lingered:

"Who am I?" I muttered, feeling as though I had forgotten everything about myself.

Forcing my body, I pushed myself upright, taking in the room around me.

The bedroom held a simple, functional charm, featuring only a bed and a desk. Resting on the desk was a glass of water.

Its walls wore a neutral coat of paint, unadorned save for a single painting of a bird.

A plain brown carpet covered the floor, while the curtains allowed just enough light to filter through, illuminating the space without any unnecessary embellishments.

"I'm thirsty," I murmured, slowly making my way towards the desk to quench my thirst with a glass of water.

As I raised the glass, my eyes met the reflection in the mirror. Looking back at me were brown dead looking eyes, black hair falling straight, obscuring parts of my face.

For some reason, I felt dissatisfied with my appearance. My face didn't seem particularly attractive, and I noticed some pimples scattered across it.

'Why do I feel like I just had a very long dream?' I pondered silently.

In that dream, I was some kind of god or something.

A very handsome one too.

RING! RING! RING.!

A phone inside the desk cabinet rang , so I swung it open. There was a black CP there with a crack screen.

'What an ugly phone,' I grumbled instinctively as I checked its contents. It displayed an alarm reminding me that I had to go to school.

BAM!

The door to my room was forcefully kicked open, and in barged a thug-like figure with a menacing grin, trailed by four others. They were all wearing some sort of white school uniform.

'I should be afraid right now, but why do I feel calm'" I muttered under my breath.

"Pipsqueak, I heard you got released from the hospital. How dare you report to the school what happened?" The man at the forefront, sporting green hair, towering stature, and a muscular build, barked angrily.

"Me? Pipsqueak? Is that my name" I pointed to myself, utterly perplexed by the situation and unsure of what these thugs were up to.

"Have you gone crazy after hitting your head?" the green-haired thug chuckled, advancing towards me. He then grabbed my collar and lifted me into the air.

"Hey, idiot, do you realize we got expelled because of you?" The green-haired thug sneered, his contempt evident in his tone as he spoke.

"Can you talk slowly, your saliva is all over the place," I replied, my face twisting in disgust.

"You're dead!" he bellowed, his fist clenched as he swung a right hook at my face.

But just before his fist could land, it stop in mid-air. Then, with a flick of my fingers, I sent him flying across the room.

"W-What just happened?" his companions stammered, visibly shaken by the unexpected turn of events.

"April Fools," I teased, even though I was pretty sure it wasn't April 1st. It just felt like the right thing to say in that moment.

"But joke aside, I was pretending to have lost my memory like some cliche protagonist, and you people just ruined it," I sighed in disappointment, feeling all the effort I put into acting was wasted.

"RUN! It's a gifted !" One of them shouted after realizing that situation they were in.

"Gifted? Do you realize I just obliterated the Multiverse?" I boasted, while I stopped their movements as well.

"P— Please don't hurt us.." they began to plead, realizing they were dealing with someone much stronger.

"Don't worry. Honestly, I've ascended to godhood before, so my view of the world isn't as limited anymore. I strive to be a better person now," I replied with a warm smile.

"So, you're going to let us go?" the green-haired man spoke with a weak voice, visibly relieved by my words.

"Of course !" I replied with a brimming smile.

Suddenly, their bodies contorted, and they all met a gruesome end. Blood splattered everywhere, staining the floors and walls.

"Not," a smile spread across my face.

'Well, I guess character development is just a myth in my dictionary,' I mused to myself. It dawned on me that I'm apparently a certified psycho, no matter what life throws at me.

But it's really funny. I'm finally back, and I wake up in a body that was a victim of bullying. Talk about coincidence.

Back in the Temporal Realm, my real body had really vanished, but I managed to transfer my consciousness back.

For someone like me, a physical body wasn't really necessary to survive.

However, there were still some things that I found to be a bit of a hassle.

Firstly, this body was too weak, requiring me to continue strengthening it to regain my peak form.

Secondly, I had lost connection to the unlimited power, so while I remained powerful, it paled in comparison to my former capabilities.

But I'm just relatively weaker compared to my god mode.

Even in my current strength, I'm still a bit stronger than the version of myself prior to being devoured by that black hole. Find exclusive stories on empire

With the fiasco behind me, I returned to the mirror and began reshaping my face to resemble my previous appearance, albeit with a subtle twist.

My hair grew darker and smoother, a deep shade that matched the shadows of the night.

My eyes turned jet black , gleaming with an otherworldly intensity. My jawline sharpened and chiseled. Long lashes framed my eyes, adding more charisma.

I also grew taller, reaching 6 feet 5 inches, and gained lean muscles.

'Now, let's check the time,' I said, picking up the phone. I use my abilities to make it brand new, even upgrading the specs.

Then I began browsing the internet, searching for news. Soon enough, the gist of things started to fall into place.

It had been six months since my disappearance. During that time, numerous cities in Asia were destroyed as the gates created by the Zol Clan began spewing out hordes of monsters.

The devastation was so severe that those areas were completely abandoned. However, humans across the world united to prevent the monsters from seizing more land.

'I guess this is what they mean by 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend',"' I chuckled, noting how everyone had suddenly become best buddies to avoid getting squished by monsters.
