Neurolink System in the Modern World

Chapter 552 Second Act- Passage

After what felt like an eternity in the narrow tunnel, the oppressive walls finally came to an end.

We had emerged into a huge cavern so immense it was hard to believe we were still underground.

The ceiling loomed high above us, easily able to accommodate a twenty-story building, while the width of the cavern was staggering—wide enough to hold several city blocks side by side.

Giant gray vines cascaded down from the walls and ceiling, their silver leaves shimmering like stars in the dim light.

The ground beneath us was a pristine white sand, almost like freshly fallen snow, making everything look surreal.

"Look at that," Aria said with a satisfied nod, her gaze sweeping over the surroundings.

"It seems your luck isn't too bad, Greenhorn. We've managed to find a large tunnel after all."

"What is this place?"

"This place is called the Ivory Passage," she explained, her voice echoing softly in the air.

"The white ground and silver leaves come from the unique energy of this area. It's one of the few stable zones in this godforsaken place."

"Wait, if that's the case, then it means a lot of people must be here, right?" I inquired, noticing the multiple tunnels branching out like the roots of an enormous tree, connecting to various locations.

"That's right, Greenhorn," she said, her tone growing serious as she glanced around. "So be ready. You might be used to being strong in your world, but here, there's no shortage of godlike beings here."

"I think I can handle myself," I replied confidently.

My body was adjusting fine, and I could feel my strength slowly returning.

I was still far from what I used to be, but if someone like her had managed to survive here for so long, it meant the power level was something I could handle.

"By the way, where is your God's Weapon?" she asked suddenly.

"What's that?" I asked, puzzled by the new term.

"Seriously? Are you really a god in your own world?" she asked, raising her eyebrows incredulously. "You should have manifested a God's Weapon when you transcended."

"I think you're mistaken," I said, trying to reason it out.

"Maybe our powers are just different. I didn't have anything like that before because I didn't need one."

"That's not possible," she said, shaking her head.

"Everyone here has a God's Weapon, even those who are not good at close-quarters combat. Don't you have anything you can summon? Or maybe a tattoo or something that gives you power?"

"Nope, nothing like that,"

"Then how did you become a god exactly?" she pressed, her curiosity piqued.

I paused, searching for the right words. "Well, it's complicated. In my world, I had access to a... system, I guess you could say. It helped me level up and gain powers over time."

"A system? Level up? What's that?" she asked, her brows knitting together in a puzzled expression.

'Wait, she doesn't know about systems? '

My mind raced with the implications. Could it be that even in this place I was special?

The thought excited me, so I decided to ask her how she became a god.

"Hey, Aria," I said, trying to sound casual. "How did you become a god, anyway? "

"I was just born with a lot of talent"

I raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Talent? Like what? You mean you didn't have to train or anything?"

"Well, I had some natural skills and a fast learner," she admitted, glancing away for a moment as if lost in thought.

"But more than that, I had some lucky breaks along the way. I stumbled upon powerful allies and found opportunities to grow stronger. It was like a series of lucky coincidences."

I nodded, trying to wrap my head around it. "So you just... got lucky?"

"That's what I thought at first," she continued, a thoughtful look crossing her face.

"But thinking about it now, I believe that the creator of this place was the one orchestrating everything to make sure I grew to my full potential."

"It's really funny if you think about it. On one hand, I should be grateful to it for giving me the opportunity to grow stronger, but on the other, I'm angry because the price I had to pay was to be stuck in this place."

I totally got what she meant.

It was like winning the lottery, but instead of enjoying my newfound wealth, I ended up stuck in a house, looking out the window while life went on without me.

The thrill of the win felt hollow when it came with strings attached.

"So, you don't have a God's Weapon, but you still managed to become a god?" Aria shifted the conversation, "That's pretty impressive, Greenhorn. I have to admit, I'm curious to see what you can do."

"Well, I guess you'll just have to find out," I replied with a smirk, feeling a surge of confidence. "But don't think I'll go easy on you just because you're pretty."

She shot me a sidelong glance, "Is that your attempt at flirting? Because it's not working."

"Who said anything about flirting?" I protested, holding my hands up. "I was just stating a fact!"

She rolled her eyes, but I could see the corners of her mouth twitching as if she were trying to suppress a smile.

The playful banter made the tension between us feel a little lighter.

After a few moments of comfortable silence, I decided to test my luck further.

"So, what if I beat you in a fight? Will you stop calling me Greenhorn and admit that I should be the leader? I think Zyden has a better ring to it."

Her laughter echoed through the passage, rich and melodic.

"You really think you can take me on? You are delusional, Greenhorn."

"Just wait and see," I replied, grinning. "I'm not just extremely good in sex. I might surprise you."

"Alright, but don't say I didn't warn you when you end up eating dirt," she replied, her competitive spirit flaring up.
