Chapter 40: Assessment (3)
Downstairs, Wesley went straight to shopping and then to a high-end clothing store to buy clothes. He bought a lot of things as if he had money and finally took a car to Stark Tower.
Wesley was sure that someone was following him, so he did not go home. Instead, he went straight to Stark Tower. First, it was his shareholders. Although they were not on the board of directors, his shares were not small. Although they were ordinary shares, five million shares were worth hundreds of millions. He was qualified to check the accounts.
Entering Stark Tower, he said, "Sir, what can I do for you?"
"I'm looking for Stark. Is he here?"
"Do you have an appointment?" The lady at the front desk did not say much, but asked for an appointment. It has to be said that she has been trained well.
"No appointment. Is there a problem?" Wesley asked.
"Sorry, we can't provide the CEO's itinerary and information without an appointment." It was polite to refuse with a smile, but Wesley had been using the Stark Metal logo on the background board of the front desk to observe the situation behind him. The stalker did not leave.
"I'm your shareholder. Call Stark directly and say that Wesley is looking for him, and he will know." Wesley was dressed in jeans and a leather jacket, but he was carrying high-end shopping bags, which looked so incongruous.
"Well, please wait a moment." After hearing Wesley's words, the receptionist felt that he didn't seem to be lying, so she called Pepper directly. "Sir, please follow me. Miss Pepe Potts asks you to go to the top floor."
The elevator on the top floor had a security system. It was a separate elevator. Wesley stepped in, and the elevator started up and went directly to the top floor. The guy on the tail outside looked around and then left. He had what he wanted. This was a billionaire, or he wouldn't be here getting to the top floor.
"Hey, Mr. Ace, why are you here?" Pepper asked with a smile.
"Where's Tony?" Wesley asked, then put the shopping bag on the ground.
"He's busy with Stark Industries Expo. It's three months away from completion," Pepper said.
Wesley calculated the time. Three months had passed since the Battle of Stark Energy Center, and Stark had not yet gone to the Senate Armed Services Committee for questioning. It was still early.
"It's okay, I just came to see him. Since he's not here, I'll go back."
"Oh, wait, the Expo opens in three months. Remember to come and support us." Pepper gave Wesley an invitation.
"Don't worry, I'll go back. I now see my stock soaring in a rocket. Trusting Stark is indeed the right choice."
"Of course. You won't be disappointed. I'll tell Stark you came to see him."
After going downstairs, Wesley found a bathroom to change his clothes and left from the back. He went straight back to his house and walked around a few times before going upstairs.
"S.H.I.E.L.D. really knows how to find trouble. Maybe all the targets are fake and only mine is real." Wesley threw the shopping bag directly after entering the door, opened the refrigerator, took a can of Coke, and gulped it down. Then he burped!
"This is our chance. You may be able to upgrade to level three and above." Apple said.
"But it's too dangerous. Hydra is a guy who can even kill Nick Fury. Damn it." Wesley was a little angry. This might be a target deliberately given to him. Frank Horman might not be his target. They were just testing him.
"No, I can't be so passive. I need to call Phil and ask him. Since they suspect that there is something wrong with the internal department, I can't investigate it casually. Otherwise, if the Hydra inside knows, I will be exposed and their plan will be exposed." Wesley took out the confidential phone. Phil gave it to him directly, so there should be no problem.
"Hey, where are you?" Wesley asked.
"What can I do for you?"
"Did you give me the content of the exam?"
"Not bad. You found the problem?"
"Yes, this financial company is a big problem. It's obviously a place to launder money. What exactly do you want me to investigate? Or should I report it directly?"
"No, your assessment target has been given to you. As long as you check the target, you can do it. You can only report this, and you can give me the rest of the content directly."
"Then why didn't you tell me?" Wesley was annoyed.
"This is also a test for you." Phil didn't say what kind of test it was, but Wesley understood that it was a test of his ability. If Wesley couldn't find the problem, or if he found the problem and didn't call Phil, then his highest rank would be a level-three agent, and the road ahead might not be easy.
"Well, agents are not simple. That's it." Wesley hung up.
Phil was at Washington headquarters, at least for now. "He found out and called. It looks like he's clean. A very clean man."
Nick Fury and Maria Hill were both here. "Right now, we're just suspicious, and the only people I can trust are the two of you. I don't know who can be trusted, so I can only test him like this. I hope he doesn't mind," Nick Fury said seriously.
Wesley didn't know what was going on over there, but his situation was a little more complicated now. These were two missions. One was aimed at the home of the head of security, and the other was aimed at the ins and outs of financial companies. He was a little irritated now. Such delicate work didn't seem like something he should be doing.
He turned around and entered the armory. There was a box of equipment here. Last time, he only took out his phone, radio, and laptop. Now it was time to look at other things.
He opened the box and then flipped through it. The decoder seemed to need it, as did the monitoring jammer, fingerprint scan, retinal scan, voiceprint record, and so on. Wesley packed everything up directly. He was going to make a move tonight. The first target was the home of Frank Horman, the head of security. He didn't need to investigate. He could just kill his way through.
"You're going to kill your way there?" Apple asked. Wesley had already arrived at the parking lot with his things and got into the Chevrolet Suburban. He drove east-west and drove out.
"That's right. I just want to complete the assessment mission with a little simplicity and a little regret. That's for the best," Wesley said.
"Why?" Apple couldn't analyze it and asked directly.
"Now I'm going to complete two missions. The first mission is to test the target. This result doesn't matter to me. Now I understand that they will at most give me a level three agent. There will be no exceptions because exceptions will make me conspicuous. This is not what Phil and the others want."
