Nightmare Revenge

Chapter 9: Chapter 9. Bully Encounter and a Business Opportunity

After school, Dean walked out of his classroom and down the corridor. Ahead of him, a short, heavily spectacled student with a face full of acne was being escorted by a large, buzz-cut guy with earrings and a messy uniform, along with three other similar-looking guys.

The nerdy student's face was terrified, though he forced a smile.

"Heh, getting bullied, huh?" Dean muttered.

[Looks like it. Why don't you offer our services?]

"Nice, more money," Dean replied.

Casually, Dean followed the group of bullies and the nerdy student. They led him to a secluded area behind the school. Dean peeked from the side of the building.

"Where's your money? You haven't paid me today," the buzz-cut, earring-wearing bully demanded.

"So-sorry, I don't have any money right now. I just paid my tuition," the nerdy student stammered.

"Excuses!"

"Slap!" A large hand smacked the nerdy student's face, knocking his glasses off. He immediately crouched down to look for his glasses. Then, the earring-wearing bully nodded his head, signaling his friends. Instantly, "Wham!" "Thud!" "Thwack!" The bullies started kicking the helpless nerdy student who was looking for his glasses, until he was prostrating himself, protecting his head.

Dean calmly walked towards them, who were enjoying kicking the defenseless nerdy student. Dean raised his finger.

"Brain control," he thought.

A black lightning bolt seemed to strike the bullies from Dean's finger. The bullies immediately stopped moving, but their eyes could still dart left and right. Their faces were terrified, and they tried to speak, but their mouths were stiff.

The nerdy student was confused because the bullies' kicks had stopped. He turned to see the bullies next to him, looking like trembling statues with eyes darting left and right.

"Tap," the nerdy student turned to see Dean crouching in front of him.

"Hey, are you in tenth grade?" Dean asked.

"Y-yes, senior. Wh-what's wrong with them?" the nerdy student stammered.

"Oh, I used my brain control skill and shut down their motor functions in their brains. Don't worry about it," Dean said casually.

"Wh-who are you, senior?" the nerdy student asked.

"My name's Dean, from 12th grade, class 2. What about you?" Dean asked.

"Jimmy Harrison, 10th grade, class 1," Jimmy replied.

"So, here's the deal, Jim. Do you want revenge on them?" Dean asked.

"Revenge? What do you mean?" Jimmy asked.

"Yeah, revenge. So they don't bully you again. We just kill them, right? But before you kill them, they have to feel what you felt because of them. That's called revenge, isn't it?" Dean said.

"Ki-kill?" Jimmy asked.

"Yeah, hurry up, do you want to?" Dean asked.

"I do, but how?" Jimmy asked.

"Alright, next question: Do you want me to do it directly, finish it now, but you pay? Or do it yourself, only you bear the risk? Don't worry, I'll teach you how. Which do you choose?" Dean asked.

"Pay? How much do I have to pay?" Jimmy asked.

"Hmm, basically the price of your soul. If you don't have money, I'll have to take your soul," Dean replied.

"My s-soul? Does that mean I'll die, senior?" Jimmy asked.

"Yes. But if you have money, then I'll ask to be paid in money," Dean said.

"Oh... I see. How much, then?" Jimmy asked.

"Just a sec," Dean said.

[Hmm... his soul's worth $220,000.]

"Pay $250,000 or your soul, that's it," Dean said.

"Whoa, that's really expensive! Can I ask my dad first?" Jimmy asked, stalling for time and glancing at the terrified bullies.

"Hmm, yeah, go ahead. If you're okay with me doing it, I guarantee you won't see them again tomorrow," Dean said, glancing at the bullies with a cynical smile.

With trembling hands, Jimmy picked up his smartphone and called his father, but soon after, Jimmy was heard getting yelled at by his father. The call ended. Jimmy turned to Dean, his face pale.

"No, senior, never mind," Jimmy said.

"Hmm, really? You sure about this? They'll keep bullying you, you know," Dean pressed.

"Yes, I'm sure. Besides, it'd be a shame to kill them," Jimmy replied, glancing at the still-stiff bullies.

"Alright, whatever. Bye," Dean said, standing up and turning to look at the bullies. "You guys are safe. Alright, you can continue now," Dean said, looking at them and smiling.

"Snap!" Dean snapped his fingers and turned, walking away. The bullies immediately started moving again, but they looked scared and trembling.

"Ji-Jim, who was that just now?" the earring-wearing bully asked.

"I don't know. He's in 12th grade, but why can't I remember his name?" Jimmy asked.

"Yeah, I also heard him say a name, but I can't remember it at all," the earring-wearing bully said, turning to look at his friends. "Do you guys remember?"

"No, boss, I swear I don't remember," one of his friends replied.

The other two friends could only nod, their legs still trembling, holding onto the friend who had just spoken. The earring-wearing bully immediately stared at Jimmy next to him, making Jimmy jump.

"Thanks, Jim. You helped me and my friends. I promise I won't bully you again. If anyone bullies you, tell me, or just say 'Carter,' that's my name. If they still cause trouble, I'll step in and beat them up," Carter, the earring-wearing bully, said.

"Yeah, no problem. Thanks," Jimmy replied.

"That person was really dangerous... his gaze wasn't a human gaze. He looked like he was used to killing people. Just a glance gave me goosebumps," Carter said.

"Same here, I'm still shivering. I had no choice but to call my dad as a cover-up. I'm still shaking now," Jimmy said.

"He casually mentioned the price of a soul as only $250,000. That guy's a real psychopath. Do you remember his class?" Carter asked.

"No, I only remember he's in 12th grade. Seriously scary. Is there really someone like that in our school?" Jimmy asked.

"Dunno...Alright Jim, let's go, back. Where do you want to go? Want to just walk around?" Carter suggested.

"But I don't have any money," Jimmy replied.

"Don't worry, you still have your money from yesterday. I'll pay. Come on," Carter urged, putting his arm around Jimmy.

Carter walked, arm around Jimmy, followed by his three friends who were also still shivering, as they exited the school gate.

Meanwhile, Dean was walking on the sidewalk when suddenly, "Ding!" his smartphone in his pocket chimed. Dean paused for a moment, then reached into his pocket. He looked at his smartphone; there was a notification from his app. He immediately opened it with a cheerful face.

"Wow, $6,000,000! This is really lucky," Dean exclaimed.

[Hohoho, she's like you, special.]

"What do you mean?" Dean asked in his head.

[She's also special, just like you, as I've explained before, don't ask to much.]

"Wait... but she's a ghost, right? How can a ghost's soul be worth so much?" Dean asked.

[Just take it first.]

"Okay, I get it," Dean replied.

Dean immediately pressed "Yes." The app's display changed to a map complete with a pinpoint location of the client. Dean immediately looked towards the tall, unfinished and abandoned building at the end of the street.

"Come on, NS, let's go there," Dean said in his head.

[Okay, let's go.]
