Chapter 17: Miss Valentine -15
The shortest route to Rainbase was to take a boat along the Santara River, which passed through Santa Island and led straight to the kingdom's heart. Then, disembark at the ferry town called "Rama," and finally rent a camel to reach the Rainbase.
Although Peter could have flown directly there with Robin in his arms, he chose the simplest method of transportation, claiming it was "to enjoy the scenery along the way."
Of course, having just arrived in the world of pirates, I genuinely wanted to enjoy the sights… but that wasn't the only reason. The more important objective was to let the incident spread and its notoriety grow, making sure its reputation reached far and wide.
This task had been entrusted to Robin.
As she made call after call, the shocking news spread among all Baroque Works members: their true boss had been none other than Crocodile, one of the government-recognized Shichibukai.
But before they had time to get excited about that revelation, they were hit with another bombshell:Crocodile had been defeated… and a new boss had taken over!
Though both announcements were sudden and shocking, as Robin explained, most members didn't particularly care who was in charge. In fact, the mere fact that Peter had managed to defeat one of the Shichibukai—a pirate officially recognized by the World Government—only deepened the loyalty of those who admired strength.
In one of Alabasta's cities, Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine were resting and replenishing supplies when the news reached them.
Unlike her partner, Miss Valentine also received direct orders to return to Alabasta immediately, because "the new boss wants to meet with you."
She laughed and said:
"Ahahaha! The new boss asked to see me right after taking office! Looks like he values me highly… Maybe I'm getting a promotion soon!"
She then proudly glanced at her partner.
Mr. 5 was clearly annoyed that he hadn't even been mentioned in the message. His irritation only deepened as she flaunted it.
With his hands in the pockets of his brown windbreaker, Mr. 5 turned around with a scornful tone and said:
"Keep dreaming… With your current skill level, I don't see why the boss would bother using you.More likely, he's just a pervert who's into your looks."
"Ah…"
Miss Valentine didn't take his words seriously, assuming he was just being sarcastic… but she had no idea how close he actually was to the truth.
Soon after, she had rented the strongest and most enduring camel in the city, climbed aboard with her umbrella in one hand, and waved excitedly with the other:
"Gana~ I'll give you special treatment after I get promoted! But for now, you're on your own with the mission~"
"Go to hell, you smug witch," Mr. 5 growled, glaring after her before turning away in frustration.
Valentine didn't care about his attitude. She hummed a light tune as she rode off cheerfully toward her destination, lost in her rosy fantasies about the future.
After eight days of scattered travel, Peter and his group finally arrived at Rama, the small ferry town.
As soon as he disembarked, Peter checked his system panel:
Host: Peter
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Height:193 cm / or 6.3 [freedom]
Lineage: Royal Saiyan
Skills: Artificial Moon -
Combat Power: 52 (+10.5)
Active Quests: One ~ Deleting…
"Tch..." Peter clicked his tongue. "Only 10 points in 8 days? That's way too slow."
His combat power had barely crossed 50, which, to him, was nowhere near enough.
Next to him, Robin turned with a puzzled look, her cheeks slightly flushed.
"What are you talking about?"
"I'm saying your body's too weak… It's not satisfying me at all."
Peter grumbled bluntly, and Robin's face immediately darkened.
Was it her fault? This brute had monstrous stamina and wore her out every night, constantly demanding more.
If she hadn't begged him for mercy and taken a couple of rest days, she might've died right there on the boat.
With a biting tone, she said:
"Sorry, I don't meet your expectations. Coincidentally, the girl of your dreams lives in this city. Maybe she'll satisfy you… and let you die in peace in bed!"
But it seemed Peter had only heard the first half of her sentence. He looked around excitedly.
"Huh? She's here already? Where is she?!"
Robin gave him a death stare, wishing she had two extra arms just to strangle him right then and there.
"She's not here. Come with me," she said grimly, speeding up her steps and leaving ahead.
Peter quickly followed after her. The other Baroque members had already completed their tasks.Aside from Phil, who chose to stay and accompany Peter, the rest had returned to their bases after resupplying.
Rama was a small town with no more than a thousand permanent residents. Most of the people passing through were traders or tourists crossing the river.
Compared to the prosperous Rainbase, the second-largest city after Alubarna, Rama held no appeal for Peter.
So, he simply followed Robin out of town without hesitation.
Outside the city, Miss Valentine—who had traveled through the night at full speed—had already prepared a special amphibious ride used by high-ranking agents: the giant turtle, Banshee.
Banshee was a massive turtle who usually puffed cigars with a smug expression, but as soon as Peter approached, its primal instincts screamed in alarm.
It immediately spat out its cigar and lowered its head in submission to Peter.
Of course, none of the three noticed this change. As soon as Miss Valentine saw Robin, she guessed the man beside her was the new boss. Her eyes lit up, and she hurried over to greet them with a bright smile.
Valentine was a tall girl (177 cm) with short blonde hair and emerald green eyes. She wore a round yellow hat with a reddish-orange brim, lemon-slice-shaped earrings, a short lemon-patterned yellow dress, white gloves, and high heels with stiletto tips.
