Chapter 24: The Arrival of CP0 -22
As a victim, and after the initial shock, Vivi gradually regained her senses amidst Peter's laughter.
As she looked at the laughing Peter in front of her, she stood up angrily, tears filling her eyes, and shouted:
"You lied to me from the very beginning! You and Crocodile are the same kind of people — your goal is this country!"
"Ahem..." Peter nearly doubled over from laughing so hard.
He wiped his tears, looked at the girl whose face had twisted in fury, and waved his hand dismissively:
"Don't misunderstand me — I'm not like that stupid crocodile. I couldn't care less about this poor country filled with nothing but sand. From start to finish, I was simply drawn to your beauty, that's all."
"You... you... idiot!"
Vivi was so enraged that she couldn't even speak clearly. She didn't know whether to praise his honesty or curse his shamelessness.
He had confessed his greed for her beauty outright... he really was shameless.
Her face turned pale and bluish — it was clear she couldn't accept this statement at all.
But before she could respond, Peter pulled out a Den Den Mushi recorder and gently waved it in front of her.
"Don't bother denying it — I've recorded our entire conversation. You promised me yourself."
A wicked grin formed on his face, and his eyes roamed her body without shame.
"And let me remind you once more — the man standing before you is the one who defeated Sand Crocodile, the one who nearly turned this country upside down.Let me put it this way, Princess Vivi… You don't want your kingdom destroyed, your father dead, or your people displaced, do you?"
Vivi: "…"
'Bastard... you're rotten to the core.'
Robin cursed Peter in her heart.
She shook her head, put down her glass, stood up, and left the office alone, leaving Peter and Vivi behind.
After leaving the office, Robin headed to the casino opposite to check on Bonney and her companion.
Upon learning the two had already received their reward and departed, Robin said nothing.
She sorted out a few matters, handled some logistics, and then returned to her room.
She opened the door, slipped on her slippers at the entrance, and stepped inside.
The room wasn't large — about 100 square meters — and as usual, it was filled with books and various manuscripts.
Once inside, she was finally able to remove her disguise. The smile that had adorned her face vanished, replaced by a subtle, unmistakable sadness.
She walked to her desk, where untranslated historical manuscripts were kept, and sat down, her eyes drifting toward the World News newspaper.
As her eyes fell on Peter's image splashed across the front page, an inexplicable sense of unease washed over her.
"I was careless... I didn't even notice someone taking photos of me.Maybe the journalists at the World Economic News Paper were just that good."
She held the newspaper in one hand, biting the nails of the other, with a rare look of fear on her face.
Now that her photo had spread worldwide, and knowing how the World Government operated, they were likely already on their way to arrest her.
Her childhood memories of being on the run resurfaced, and the paper crumpled in her grip.
But just as her fears began to consume her, an image of a giant monkey roaring at the sky suddenly flashed in her mind, instantly dispelling her anxiety.
She thought of the overwhelming power Peter had shown that night, and a strange warmth and calm settled in her heart.
"This man..." She placed a hand on her chest, stunned by the change happening within her.
"After less than a month of living together… Have I already gotten used to relying on him?Humans really do adapt in unbelievable ways."
She muttered those words, set the newspaper aside again, leaned back in her chair, and reminisced about every moment she had spent with Peter.
But the more she thought of him, the more her mind was flooded with the absurd situations, the threats, and the temptations he had just used on Vivi.
Robin's eyes flew open in shock. She covered her forehead and suddenly realized—
"I've come to rely on him both physically and mentally? As he said… I am wrapped around his finger..."
Robin, shaken by this realization, fell into deep confusion.
Meanwhile, the Marine Branch G22, stationed near the waters of Alabasta, received two mysterious guests.
Two strange men — one fat, the other thin — wore pig and dog masks, respectively, along with white suits and cloaks.
They strolled through the Marine base as if they belonged, despite looking nothing like the average sailor.
But not a single Marine dared to approach or question them.
Even if a young recruit thought to act, their superior would quickly stop them and whisper:
"Ignore them... pretend you didn't see anything."
The clever ones closed their eyes immediately.
The stubborn ones would keep asking questions.
To which their superiors would often reply, with a meaningful and sarcastic tone:
"They're Government agents... the shield of the Celestial Dragons — CP0."
Before anyone could ask, "What's CP0?" a senior officer wearing a Justice coat stopped the two white-clad figures.
"You two — the Colonel is expecting you. Please, follow me to his office."
The major wore a formal smile and gestured politely.
The tall, thin man in the dog mask looked up at a high window in the main building, and faintly saw a pale pink silhouette watching them.
He lowered his head. His expression was unreadable beneath the mask.He nodded calmly and said:
"Lead the way."
"This way, please."
The officer turned and led them into the headquarters without hesitation.
Only after the three entered the building did the remaining Marines begin to whisper among themselves, speculating aloud about CP0's sudden visit.
The G11 Branch building had a conical shape — narrow at the top and wide at the base.
The trio walked through the corridor and climbed the spiral staircase to the fifth floor, where they stopped in front of the largest office.
Knock knock knock~
"Enter."
The officer opened the door for them and motioned them in, but did not follow.
The two masked men exchanged a brief glance and entered without hesitation.
