Chapter 30: Hina's Threat -28
Before the "Pig-Man" could recover from the pain of his shattered fangs,
Peter drove his left claw into the man's shoulder again and raised his knee, slamming it directly into his gut.
Then he swung his left arm and tossed him down the stairs like trash. After rolling down a few steps, he landed beside the man with the dog mask—already dead—and his soul followed him straight to hell.
It all happened so fast that Hina had just gotten up from the couch when both of them had already turned into corpses.
She looked at the two bodies in horror, then slowly turned toward Peter with caution. But the fear in her chest refused to subside no matter how hard she tried.
"It happened so quickly… from the first beam to the boar's death—it all happened before Hina could react."
This man was far beyond anything Hina could handle.
Damn it… if only I had known, I never would've followed those two idiots here out of curiosity!
She cursed in her heart and bit down on the cigarette between her lips. Her heart was pounding so violently it felt like it would burst out of her chest at any moment.
After casually dealing with those two fools who couldn't tell life from death, Peter also took notice of Hina's obvious tension.
He turned his head toward her and flashed a calm smile. "Don't worry, Miss Marine. I don't kill women."
Who would believe that? That smile was scarier than the devil's grin itself!
And what made it even worse was that a few drops of Pig-Man's blood had splattered across Peter's face when he shattered his fangs.
With two still-warm corpses on the ground, Peter's smile looked nothing short of demonic.
It was so terrifying that Hina, a battle-hardened Marine colonel, felt her legs go weak.
"Ding-Ding~"
The bell rang, and a team of ten Baroque Works members entered the office in no time.
They swiftly cleared away the bodies of the two CP0 agents and brought in a new desk for their boss before respectfully closing the door and leaving.
After they had all gone, Peter slowly descended from the platform.
The sound of his leather shoes tapping against the stairs felt like drumbeats against Hina's heart, making her stay on high alert. She instinctively took a defensive stance, ready for a desperate fight.
Under her anxious gaze, Peter walked to the wine cabinet, pulled out a bottle of champagne and two glasses, placed them on the coffee table, poured two drinks, and then sat leisurely on the couch.
He looked at Hina, still frozen in place, and casually extended his hand:
"Come sit. I'm not joking. I really don't hit women, especially not beautiful ones like you."
After that, he nudged the wine glass toward her.
Hina clenched her teeth and stared at Peter, who looked completely relaxed. This might be her only chance to act.
But the memory of that earlier fight was still fresh in her mind.
As much as she didn't want to admit it, she knew she wasn't even a match for one CP0 agent—let alone Peter, who had taken down both of them in just a few moves.
After thinking it through, Hina finally accepted the reality and cautiously sat on the sofa.
She stared at the wine glass on the table but didn't reach for it.
"What… do you want Hina to do?"
The reason she asked was simple—she didn't believe Peter would just let her walk away without some hidden motive.
That line about not killing women? Only a fool would fall for it.
"What do I want? You came here on your own, didn't you?"
Peter sipped his champagne. His eyes lit up briefly with satisfaction. He took another sip before placing the glass down with exaggerated elegance.
"Forget those two idiots. Let's just talk. Think of this as me wanting to become friends."
Friends?
Hina didn't believe a single word from this man.
He wasn't officially a pirate, but he was more brutal than any she'd ever met.
They were all adults in their thirties. Hina wasn't some naive rookie.
She quickly figured out what Peter was really thinking just by the looks he kept sneaking at her—burning with desire.
Suddenly, she stood up with a pale face and shouted:
"You bastard! Hina would rather die than let you get your way!"
"Oh? Even if all the men you brought with you die as well?"
Peter raised his eyebrow and turned to the large screen in the center of the office.
At the same time, the screen showed the scene outside the Rain Banquet, where Marine officers were surrounded by Baroque Works members led by Mr. 1. Both sides had their guns raised in a tense standoff.
"Why bring such a burden with you? My people can handle this kind of mess without me lifting a finger."
He pressed a button on the remote under the coffee table and paused the video. Then he turned with a smile to Hina, whose face had darkened.
"And that's not all—I also sent people to deal with the three Marine ships anchored at Rama Town."
"If you don't want your men wiped out, then please, Colonel Hina… stay here as a guest."
Peter emphasized the word guest, making Hina grit her teeth in fury.
But she had no choice.
Any rash move could lead to a massacre of her subordinates.
Like a deflated balloon, she finally surrendered, powerless.
"Let them go… Hina… you can do whatever you want with her."
Peter laughed, "That depends on how you perform from now on. As long as you behave, everything will be fine."
Outside the Rain Banquet, the standoff between the Marines and Baroque Works members continued.
Lieutenant Commander Gatchi, Vice-Commander of Operations from Marine Branch G22, gripped the hilt of his sword and addressed the two leaders, Daz Bones and Zala:
"I remember you two… members of Baroque Works. Your titles: 'West Blue Killer' Daz Bones, with a bounty of 75 million, and 'Poisonous Spider' Zala, with a bounty of 35 million."
After reciting the info from memory, he continued in a stern voice:
"You should be grateful the Marines haven't already captured you as dangerous wanted criminals. And now you dare oppose us in public? Aren't you afraid that Marine HQ will come hunting for you personally?!"
