Chapter 35: : The War of the Forgotten Flag
Chapter 27One Piece: Legacy of the Pirate King
The wind across the Grand Line shifted.
The moment the Echo Vault reactivated—when its glyph flared across the ancient memory network—the world changed.
Hidden den den mushis across the four blues buzzed with an ancient signal.
Old crews awakened.
Long-forgotten pirates who once fled the New World, fearing Luffy's rise, now began to stir once more—not for power, but to erase the one carrying the next light.
And above them all, a shadow emerged… bearing no name, no face.
Only a torn, black flag stitched from broken Jolly Rogers and one phrase:
"Legacies Die With Us."
Meanwhile – Aboard the Red Spirit
Sera spread the new glyph across the table, projecting ancient data in floating script.
"It's called the War of the Forgotten Flag," she said. "Joy Boy's first crew didn't just disappear. They were hunted by a faction within the Ancient Kingdom who believed inherited wills were a curse."
"They were betrayed," Rin muttered, arms folded.
"Erased," Sera corrected. "Their enemies made a vow. That every time the Will of D. awakens… they would rise to snuff it out."
Mimi gasped. "And now that Lian touched the vault…"
Lucien smirked. "He lit the candle they've been waiting for."
Lian didn't flinch.
"Then let 'em come."
A Storm Gathers
Ships began to vanish.
Peaceful islands reported "black-sailed ghosts" stealing memory stones and Poneglyph fragments.
In Water 7, an explosion took out an entire ancient shipyard.
In the skies above Skypiea, thunder rained down on cloud libraries, wiping centuries of stored vision-sound logs.
A name began to surface.
"The Remnant Armada."
Not pirates.
Not marines.
Something else.
And leading them?
A man with no past.
Only a stolen Marine coat.
New Arrival: Captain Sol
On the shores of a neutral island where the Red Spirit docked to resupply, a figure approached their ship.
Tall. Square-jawed. Clad in a marine coat—tattered, faded, with the emblem burned off.
He didn't carry a sword.
Only a set of inverted justice chains wrapped around both wrists.
Rin moved instantly.
Lucien summoned a flame-kick ready.
Sera narrowed her eyes.
But the man stopped, raised both hands, and calmly said:
"I'm not your enemy.I'm your father's unfinished mistake."
Lian stepped forward, curious. "You were a marine?"
The man nodded. "Captain Sol. Drafted after the Void Throne collapsed. My loyalty wasn't to the Navy. It was to Luffy."
That made them pause.
Lian tilted his head. "You knew my dad?"
Sol nodded, slowly. "I was supposed to assassinate him."
The Reveal
Sol's voice was heavy with guilt.
"I was part of a black ops unit formed after Imu fell. Their goal wasn't peace—it was control. They thought killing Luffy would sever the Will of D. once and for all."
"But you didn't," Rin muttered, hand still on her blade.
"No. I met him. Spent one night watching him laugh, drink, eat, cry… and then beat a warlord with a banana."
Lucien grinned. "Classic."
Sol continued. "That night, I defected. He let me go. Told me: 'Live. Fix what they broke.'"
Now he looked at Lian.
"You've inherited something dangerous. The Remnant Armada is coming for you. You won't survive if you try to fight them the way your father did."
Lian raised an eyebrow. "And how should I fight?"
"By doing what he couldn't. Forming alliances. Uniting lost flags. Making the forgotten remembered again."
The Call to Arms
Later that night, Lian stood on the deck with the wind rushing past him.
In his hand, he held a map.
Sol had marked dozens of scattered crews—pirates who once served under Roger, Whitebeard, or even Luffy… but had long since faded into hiding.
Each one had a part to play.
Each one had something to protect.
Lian clenched his fist.
"We're not running. We're finding them."
Lucien nodded. "Time to build our own fleet."
Mimi punched the air. "The Glitter Armada!!"
"No," Lian smiled.
"The Rising Flame Fleet."
In the Distance
A black-flagged ship emerged from the fog, bearing the sigils of over 100 fallen pirate crews… all sewn together into one cursed mast.
A voice echoed from it.
Cold. Ancient.
"He has lit the flame. We shall bring the flood."
Preview: Chapter 28 – Shadows Over Alabasta
Lian's first stop is the desert kingdom of Alabasta, where a former ally of Luffy's vanished under strange circumstances. But beneath the sand lies a sleeping enemy—and a throne that may hold the power to bend the will of memory itself.
