One Piece: Marine Luffy, Garp regrets it

Chapter 208: Chapter 208

After Luffy's lengthy explanation of his new abilities, only Olivia, Nami, and Kujaku seemed to catch on. The rest wore blank expressions, with metaphorical question marks almost visible above their heads.

Luffy sighed, realizing just how low the general level of scientific knowledge was in the world of pirates. "Ahem," he said, "let's just say it's a... magical kind of physical change."

At that, everyone's faces lit up in sudden comprehension, clapping their hands in unison.

"Oh, it's the magic of physics!" they chorused.

Luffy's expression went flat. "Right… sure. Let's go with that," he muttered under his breath.

Seeing his frustration, Hancock coughed lightly, her face turning red as she shifted her gaze. "You know, I'm a pirate," she said defensively. "It's normal not to understand these things."

Koala, stepping forward with an embarrassed smile, chimed in, "Hey, I never had formal Marine training, so it's not surprising I don't know this stuff."

Kalifa also joined in. "In CP, we're only trained for combat. None of this comes up in lessons."

Ain and Hina, seeing the others come forward, quietly admitted, "We're combatants too, so... not much use for that sort of knowledge."

Proudly standing apart were Olivia, Nami, and Kujaku—the only ones who had understood Luffy's explanation. They exchanged smug glances as if they had just passed an elite test.

Then everyone's eyes turned to the remaining senior officers, Garp, Kizaru, and Aokiji, who had yet to respond.

Garp scratched his cheek, unapologetic as he said, "I worked my way up from the bottom, no teachers or fancy knowledge like that. Just pure experience!"

Kizaru and Aokiji were about to chime in, but Garp immediately turned and pointed at them. "And you two! You're admirals who went through all that elite Marine training. Can't believe your knowledge level's below a kid's! You're making the Marine look bad!"

"Oh, come on, Garp-san," Aokiji muttered, crossing his arms with a sigh. "We're here to fight, not take physics exams. Besides, you're the last one to lecture anyone about studying."

Kizaru nodded, his usual smirk growing slightly. "Exactly, Garp-san. And anyway, Luffy-san's the real genius here."

Garp huffed and looked away, ignoring their comebacks.

Seeing the back-and-forth escalate, Ain quickly stepped forward to smooth things over. "Alright, alright, enough of that. If you don't understand it, you don't understand it! Just know it's… well, impressive."

Ain gave Luffy an encouraging nod, then eagerly pulled him forward. "Come on, Luffy, show everyone your new ability!"

Luffy, excited at the chance to show off, turned toward the group, raising his hands. "Alright, everyone, check this out… Huh?" Suddenly, he stopped, his expression turning serious as he sensed something with his Observation Haki.

"What's wrong?" Olivia asked, noticing the change.

"Something's coming. And it's huge, moving at an insane speed," Luffy said, his gaze sharpening as he pointed in the direction of the approaching presence.

The others looked around in confusion, taken aback by his sudden shift in tone.

Garp, Aokiji, Kizaru, Ain, and Hancock all immediately focused, using their Observation Haki to scan the distance in the direction Luffy had pointed. Yet after a few moments, even with their combined efforts, none of them could detect anything.

Confused, Aokiji and Kizaru exchanged glances, while Hancock, who knew Luffy's Observation Haki range better than most, turned to him seriously.

"How far away is it?" she asked, her voice filled with concern.

Luffy took a moment to calculate. "About… 220 kilometers."

Kizaru, Aokiji, and Garp stared at him, jaws dropping.

"Two hundred… and twenty kilometers?" Kizaru repeated, his usual calm demeanor slipping as he tried to process the distance.

The number left them all in stunned silence. Sensing something that far away was beyond anything they had experienced, even with Haki. As seasoned veterans, each of them knew the limits of their own Observation Haki—and this was far beyond anything they'd thought possible.

Aokiji shook his head in disbelief, trying to wrap his mind around it. "I've never heard of anyone having Observation Haki that powerful. Are you sure, Luffy?"

Luffy shrugged, rolling his eyes. "Just believe me"
