Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Kill

The old woman, Amazon, was stunned. Asa, with his back turned, had miraculously evaded the shock wave from her impact shell.

On Sky Island, she had never seen anyone dodge an attack without even looking.

She steadied herself, ignoring the powerful recoil of the impact shell, and aimed again at Asa.

"Boom!"

Another powerful shock wave rushed toward him.

This time, Asa didn't bother turning around. Instead, he tested his newly awakened Observation Haki. Without looking, he "saw" the white figure of Amazon in his mind—a projection created by his newfound ability.

He sensed her movements through the airflow and vibrations in the environment. Tilting his head to the left, the shock wave once again whizzed past him harmlessly.

Ecstasy flooded Asa's heart. His awakened Observation Haki not only enhanced his perception of Aura and intent but also allowed him to visualize his surroundings. He could "see" the white shadow of Amazon in his mind as she prepared her attack.

"This feels like Admiral Fujitora's level of Observation Haki!" Asa thought excitedly.

He recalled Rayleigh's words about Haki being the latent potential possessed by all living beings. This power, like instinct, could be cultivated through practice or, in rare cases, awaken naturally.

Among the three types of Haki—Conqueror's, Armament, and Observation—Conqueror's Haki was the rarest, a power born only in those destined to lead.

However, Observation Haki could make the senses extraordinarily sharp, allowing the user to detect aura, emotions, and even predict movements. With training, its range and accuracy could grow exponentially.

Asa, naturally gifted with heightened senses, found his awakening both fortuitous and exhilarating.

"Betting my life on the rising sea current has already borne fruit. This power is… perfect!" Asa laughed boldly as he moved effortlessly, dodging Amazon's relentless shock waves.

Amazon's face twisted in disbelief as her arms trembled under the recoil of her attacks.

"I wanted to enter Sky Island peacefully, but you've left me no choice. Since I've offended you, I'll offend you to the very end!"

Murder gleamed in Asa's dark eyes as he propelled himself forward with explosive force. His movement left afterimages, and in an instant, he appeared beside Amazon, his fist coiled with deadly intent.

To Asa, there was no room for mercy. Leaving witnesses alive would only spell disaster.

Amazon would inevitably inform Gan Fall, the God of Sky Island, of his arrival. Asa, still too weak to face the Sky Island guardians, would be hunted down and captured—or worse, executed.

He quickly calculated his options: killing Amazon would buy him time to secure the Thunder Fruit, his ultimate goal. Once he had it, he could either go into hiding or align himself with the Shandians, who had long waged war against the Sky Islanders.

The Shandians, forced from their homeland of Upper Yard centuries ago, harbored deep resentment toward the Sky Islanders. Asa was confident they would welcome his strength if he joined their cause.

In this world, power dictated survival, and Asa understood that planning and adaptability were crucial until he gained the strength to crush all opposition.

Asa's footsteps blurred as he closed the distance between himself and Amazon. In an instant, his steel-like fist smashed into her head.

"Despicable Blue sea man… the God will not forgive you…" Amazon muttered her final words before her body crumpled.

"Bang!!!"

Her lifeless body flew into the Gate of Heaven's structure with a sickening crash. Blood poured from her orifices, her bones shattered into dust. She was dead on impact.

Asa stood over the scene, unfazed. Instead, a faint thrill coursed through him.

"This world, where strength is the ultimate law, is truly intoxicating. Only with overwhelming power can one pursue freedom, ambition, and joy without restraint," Asa thought coldly.

He smiled darkly. "Killing without hesitation… I never imagined it would feel so liberating. You can boast about this in hell—being killed by me is an honor!"

The wind stirred Asa's black hair as his recovering vision caught the blood-soaked scene. In the crimson reflection, he saw himself, looking like a devil incarnate.
