Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Arrival on Angel Island
Amazon's diminutive size and light frame made disposing of her body remarkably easy. Asa simply grabbed the corpse and buried it in the island cloud. Within a day or two, the creatures of the White Sea would devour it, leaving no trace behind.
Before doing so, Asa tore off the wings from her back and modified his fur coat to fit them, cutting small holes to secure the wings in place.
Though wings were purely decorative for the Sky Islanders, Asa saw an opportunity to blend in and avoid unnecessary trouble.
"Sky Islanders can't possibly recognize everyone on the island," he thought confidently.
After adjusting his disguise, Asa admired his reflection. His long black hair cascaded over his shoulders, his eyes sparkled like stars, and his angled sword-like eyebrows lent a sharp, commanding presence. Despite his tattered clothes, his white wings added an air of authenticity to his new persona.
Satisfied, Asa ensured he left no evidence behind before stepping onto the soft clouds and heading toward the circular road.
The island clouds beneath him swirled as Asa's Observation Haki picked up on something stirring below. A massive red shrimp, over 30 meters in length, emerged at his feet.
"An Express Shrimp," Asa realized, a grin spreading across his face.
With enthusiasm, he opened his arms wide and shouted, "Onward, to the start of my dream—Angel Island!"
As if understanding his words, the Express Shrimp surged forward at lightning speed, its steel-like red carapace cutting through the clouds with ease.
The wind howled around Asa as he clung tightly to the shrimp's armor, his eyes fixed on the ribbon-like cloud road that stretched endlessly into the sky.
This extraordinary sight—a majestic, natural pathway ascending into the heavens—was a marvel beyond human comprehension. Whether a creation of nature, divine intervention, or a Devil Fruit's power, it left Asa awestruck.
The shrimp's incredible speed rivaled that of the fastest supercars from Asa's previous life, its massive body moving with unparalleled agility. As they neared Angel Island, Asa's excitement grew.
Every step he had taken—the years of waiting, the careful planning, the life-or-death gamble—had been for this moment.
Ahead, a glowing hole marked the end of the cloud road. Beyond it, Asa knew, lay the culmination of his efforts.
"Boom!!!"
The Express Shrimp burst from the dark tunnel, hurling Asa into the sky before detaching from the track and retreating.
"Boom!"
Asa landed in the soft, wet island clouds with a resounding thud. He lay there for a moment, staring at the vibrant scenery around him, before bursting into laughter.
"Hahahahahaha!"
Clutching his forehead, he laughed uncontrollably, overcome with emotion.
For five long years, he had toiled—making excuses to the villagers of Gaya Island to gather information, calculating the timing of the rising currents, and surviving countless brushes with death.
None of it mattered now. He had succeeded.
He had bet his life on this gamble, and his boldness had paid off.
At last, Asa stood on Angel Beach, part of Angel Island.
Behind him lay the endless expanse of the White Sea, while ahead, green vegetation stretched like a small forest. Dark green, pumpkin-shaped fruits hung from the trees.
Farther away, buildings crafted from processed island clouds rose like skyscrapers—a testament to the ingenuity of the Sky Islanders.
Angel Beach was quiet and deserted, exactly as Asa had hoped. If others had been present, he might have been forced to waste time—or eliminate witnesses.
For now, his priority was to remain undetected by the Skylanders. Asa had no desire to kill indiscriminately, though he would not hesitate if someone posed a threat to his plans.
Next to Angel Beach, Asa noticed the pumpkin fruits on the nearby trees. Their juice was sweet and refreshing, perfect for quenching his thirst.
After devouring a few, Asa rested in a shaded pavilion, formulating his next steps.
The first priority was to avoid the law enforcement agencies of Angel Island, including the guardian army commanded by Gan Fall, the self-proclaimed God of Sky Island.
Asa estimated Gan Fall's strength, along with his four great priests, to be equivalent to Blue Sea warriors with bounties ranging from 60 million to 80 million beli.
Despite Gan Fall's later feats—like defeating a Sea King class in seconds—Asa knew such actions were aided by the environmental challenges faced by intruders like Luffy and his crew, who struggled with altitude sickness.
For now, Asa aimed to avoid direct confrontation. Gan Fall and his priests were likely stationed on Upper Yard, the Island of Gods, far from Angel Beach. This gave Asa a brief window to act.
His immediate goal was to secure transportation to Birka Island, Enel's hometown. Located southeast of Angel Island, its position could be determined by observing natural markers like the sunrise, tree growth patterns, and annual rings.
While most Sky Islanders had little knowledge of Birka Island's location, Asa's determination to reach it was unwavering.
Swimming was a risky option due to the presence of Sea Kings in the White Sea and the uncertain distance. The best solution was acquiring a "Waver," a fast, motorcycle-like vehicle unique to Sky Island.
PS: Power Stones you beautiful bastards.
