One Piece: Rising to Fleet Admiral Through a Coup

Chapter 72: 《One Piece: Rising》Chapter 72: Marine Announcement! Public Execution of Whitebeard Jr.!

Marine Headquarters Prison.

As Bakkin and Edward Weevil were locked into their individual cells, the other prisoners in the prison were immediately drawn to the commotion.

When they caught sight of Edward Weevil's appearance, many of them were struck with shock, mistaking him for the world's strongest man, Whitebeard. Their faces were filled with astonishment.

"What's going on? Did they capture Whitebeard?!"

"No wonder he dared to stage a coup and take the position of Fleet Admiral. His first move is to go after Whitebeard!"

"Don't talk nonsense! That guy just looks like Whitebeard!"

"Yeah, Whitebeard's already in his seventies or eighties. There's no way he'd look this young!"

"But looking this similar... Could he be Whitebeard's son? If that's the case, this is huge. Capturing Whitebeard's son to send a message—things are about to get interesting!"

"So strong! I've got a feeling this new Fleet Admiral is going to be every pirate's nightmare!"

"I don't know about the pirates outside, but I overheard the guards yesterday saying that any prisoner here who has committed murder or other heinous crimes will be sent to the guillotine soon! Brothers, we don't have much time left!"

As the prisoners in the neighboring cells openly whispered among themselves, Bakkin furrowed her brows slightly.

Then, with the imprint of Xayuki's boot still visible on her face, she turned her head toward the neighboring cell, her gaze sharp as she addressed the gathered prisoners, "Do you know anything about this new Fleet Admiral of Marine Headquarters?"

"Who are you?"

One of the prisoners approached the iron bars and asked curiously, "And who's that kid next to you who looks just like Whitebeard?"

"As you've guessed, his name is Edward Weevil, Whitebeard Jr.!" Bakkin, dragging her shackles as she stood up, fixed her gaze on the prisoners across from her. "Now answer my question. What's the background of this young Fleet Admiral of Marine Headquarters?"

"You two were just brought in, weren't you?" The lead prisoner blinked, puzzled, and replied, "His name is Xayuki. He's the ruthless guy who staged a coup to become Fleet Admiral. Don't underestimate him just because he's young. Everyone in Marine Headquarters, even the guards outside, is fiercely loyal to him! With just one gesture or glance from Xayuki, they'd empty their magazines in an instant without even blinking!"

"What?!"

Bakkin's face changed drastically, her expression filled with disbelief. "A coup?!"

"It seems you really don't know what's been going on." The prisoner, noting Bakkin's reaction, smirked and began recounting everything he'd heard from the guards about Xayuki's rise to power.

After hearing the prisoner's account, even Bakkin, a former member of the Rocks Pirates, couldn't help but gasp in shock. A cold chill ran down her spine as she recalled her earlier audacity in ignoring Xayuki's presence aboard the warship.

It was one thing to stage a coup and seize the position of Fleet Admiral, but to personally confront the Holy Land and force the World Government to compromise—granting him authority over the Marines and privileges on par with the Five Elders—was another level entirely.

If Xayuki could make the Holy Land yield, killing her and her son would be as easy as crushing two ants.

At this realization, any lingering hope in Bakkin's heart vanished completely, replaced by an overwhelming fear of death.

Clang!

Suddenly, the recently closed prison door swung open as two guards pushed it aside.

Moments later, Ain and Binz, both wearing Marine Headquarters Vice Admiral coats, entered the prison, flanked by several Marine officers. They quickly approached the cell where Bakkin and Weevil were held.

Before Bakkin or the other prisoners could react, Ain opened the folder in her hands and spoke coldly, her tone devoid of emotion:

"Miss Bakkin, real name Bakkin Stussy, former member of the Rocks Pirates. Three years ago, you incited your son Edward Weevil to attack a Marine training ship, resulting in the deaths of dozens of Marine trainees. After thorough investigation by Marine Headquarters, the evidence is conclusive. You will be publicly executed tomorrow at noon in Marineford Plaza."

"Damn it!"

Hearing that she was to be publicly executed, Bakkin lunged forward, crawling to the front of the cell as she screamed hysterically, "You can't do this! My son and I aren't the only ones who've killed Marines! There are so many criminals in Impel Down who've attacked the Marines! Why are they just imprisoned while we're being executed?!"

Ain ignored Bakkin's desperate outburst. Flipping to the next page in her folder, she turned her icy gaze to Edward Weevil, whose arm had been severed. Her tone remained as cold as ever.

"Edward Weevil, three years ago, under the instigation of your mother, you attacked a Marine training ship and brutally murdered dozens of Marine trainees. After investigation by Marine Headquarters, your crimes warrant death. You will be publicly executed tomorrow at noon in Marineford Plaza."

After finishing her declaration, Ain let out a long breath, as if a weight had been lifted from her shoulders. She closed the folder and handed it to Binz beside her. Then, she stepped forward, looking down at Bakkin, who was clutching the iron bars. Her lips parted slightly as she spoke:

"Do you know how long Binz, Zephyr-sensei, and I have waited for this day? Three years. For three whole years, I've dreamed of cutting you and your son down, but I lacked the ability to do so. I could only watch as you two roamed free."

"Fortunately, we have Lord Xayuki!"

"Bakkin, you and your son have one night left to repent."

As she finished speaking, Ain's face broke into a relaxed smile, one that hadn't appeared in three years. Without hesitation, she turned and walked away.

"Oh, by the way~"

After taking a few steps, Ain suddenly turned back to look at Bakkin, her smile brighter than ever. "I'll be the one to carry out your execution tomorrow!"

While Bakkin and her son were being held in Marine Headquarters Prison, the Marine press office quickly issued a public announcement. Not only did they reveal Bakkin's true identity and the capture of her son, but they also dropped a bombshell: Marine Headquarters would conduct a public execution tomorrow at noon.

Within hours, this shocking news spread like wildfire across the Grand Line through newspapers and live broadcasts via Den Den Mushi. The announcement sent shockwaves through the seas.

New World—Whitebeard Pirates' Territory.

Aboard the massive Moby Dick, all the commanders of the Whitebeard Pirates had gathered. They sat quietly, their eyes fixed on the imposing figure of the world's strongest man, Edward Newgate, seated at the head of the deck.

Whitebeard remained silent, holding the latest intelligence report in his hands. His expression grew increasingly grave.

"Father, what's going on with this Marine announcement?"

Finally, Marco, the commander of the First Division, stepped forward cautiously. "The Marine announcement mentioned someone named Edward Weevil, calling himself Whitebeard Jr. What's his connection to you? Why does he claim to be your son?"

"It doesn't matter who he is."

With a flick of his wrist, Whitebeard tossed the newspaper aside. The aura surrounding him intensified, causing the air to ripple and creating an invisible pressure that covered the entire area.

Then, with a sudden movement, the world's strongest man rose to his feet. The volcanic force of his presence erupted as he declared:

"To dare use my name to attack a Marine training ship—"

"Bakkin Stussy, you deserve to die!"
