Chapter 71: 《One Piece: Rising》Chapter 71: Even If He Were the Son of a God, I Would Still Execute Him!
The next afternoon.
At the Marineford port, all officers of Marine Headquarters, led by Xayuki, were present.
To Xayuki's right stood Zephyr, Sengoku, and Garp, the latter still wrapped in bandages. To his left were Admirals Sakazuki and Kuzan.
The Vice Admirals, led by Gion, did not stand behind Xayuki but were instead lined up neatly opposite him, all awaiting the slowly approaching warship entering the port.
The familiar formation exuded an invisible, suffocating pressure.
On the high wall to one side of the port, Mihawk, with his Supreme Grade Sword strapped to his back, observed the scene from above. His hawk-like eyes narrowed slightly as he took in the transformed and immensely powerful Marine force under Xayuki's leadership.
Not far from Mihawk, Boa Hancock, draped in her floral-patterned cape, stood gracefully on one side. Opposite her was Gunshi, cloaked in the Holy Knights' mantle and wearing her signature newsboy cap.
Under the gaze of all present, the warship slowly docked at the port.
On the deck of the warship, bound tightly with ropes, was a grotesque and obese man nearly seven meters tall. His white crescent-shaped mustache curved upward, and his head drooped weakly.
This was Edward Weevil!
The pirate who had attacked the training ship three years ago. Since childhood, he had been indoctrinated by his mother to believe that he was the son of Edward Newgate, the man known as the strongest in the world and the ruler of the New World. Because of this, Weevil always referred to himself as Whitebeard Jr.
Although Edward Newgate had neither confirmed nor denied the claim, Edward Weevil possessed the monstrous strength reminiscent of a young Whitebeard. Despite his lack of intelligence, his immense power was undeniable.
It was this strength that allowed him to single-handedly attack the training ship personally overseen by former Admiral Zephyr three years ago, achieving a devastating victory.
However, his glory ended there.
Now, bound and kneeling on the deck, his head hung low. His right arm had been severed cleanly, and even after a day, fresh blood still oozed from the wound.
Beside Weevil stood a short, wrinkled old woman clad in a leopard-print coat. Her grotesque appearance was further marred by bloodstains on her body, some of which had already dried. Her sunglasses now hung around her neck.
This was Miss Bakkin, whose real name was Bakkin Stussy, a former member of the Rocks Pirates. She claimed to be Whitebeard's lover.
Standing to Xayuki's right, alongside Sengoku and Garp, Zephyr trembled uncontrollably the moment he saw Weevil. His fists clenched silently, and his body quivered as he struggled to suppress the emotions that had been bottled up for three long years.
The attack on the training ship, which left only Ain and Binz alive among the trainees, had weighed heavily on Zephyr's heart like a mountain. For three years, he had been tormented by guilt for his students and the relentless hatred that consumed his mind.
If not for Xayuki, the student who had kept his faith in the Marines alive, Zephyr might have long since left Headquarters to hunt down the culprit himself.
And Xayuki had proven worthy of his trust and expectations. The first thing Xayuki did upon becoming Fleet Admiral was to capture the pirate responsible for the attack. Now, he had brought the criminal directly to Zephyr.
When Zephyr saw Ain and Binz appear on the deck, standing behind Admiral Borsalino, he could no longer hold back. It was as if a thousand-pound weight had been lifted from his shoulders. Tears streamed down his face as he wept openly.
Sengoku, witnessing Zephyr's reaction, sighed silently. After a moment of hesitation, he raised a hand and patted Zephyr's shoulder in silent comfort.
At that moment, Ain and Binz leaped off the warship, arriving before Xayuki ahead of Borsalino. They saluted sharply. "Fleet Admiral!"
Xayuki nodded and spoke gently, "Well done."
Those three simple words broke the emotional dam within Ain and Binz. Their eyes reddened instantly, and they struggled to hold back their tears.
As the only two surviving trainees from the attack, Ain and Binz had endured their own torment over the past three years. They were frequently jolted awake from nightmares, the harrowing scenes of the attack growing more vivid with each passing day rather than fading.
During this time, they had secretly approached Sengoku, pleading with the former Fleet Admiral to allow them to lead a mission to hunt down the culprit. But Sengoku, fearing for their safety, had always refused, promising instead that the Marines would bring the criminal to justice.
Yet three years had passed with no news of the culprit. The increasing number of pirates had stretched Marine resources thin, leaving no time to pursue the investigation.
If not for Xayuki's coup and subsequent rise to Fleet Admiral, Ain and Binz were certain that the attack would have been forgotten. Worse, they feared that the pirate who attacked the training ship might one day become one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, as Xayuki had foreseen.
Thank goodness for Xayuki!
Looking at the young Fleet Admiral, who appeared so gentle in this moment, Ain's voice trembled as she shook her head firmly. "It was no trouble."
Xayuki took a step forward, his voice as gentle as ever. "Go rest and recover. Tomorrow, during the public execution, you and Binz will be in charge."
Hearing this, Ain immediately straightened her posture. Together with Binz, she saluted once more, shouting in unison, "Loyalty!"
After Ain and Binz stepped back, the warmth on Xayuki's face vanished, replaced by the cold, decisive demeanor of a man who had risen to Fleet Admiral through a coup, forcing even the Holy Land to compromise.
In a flash, Xayuki appeared before Weevil and Bakkin.
Sensing the overwhelming killing intent emanating from him, Bakkin, who had been slumped with her head down, suddenly looked up, her face filled with fear. She stammered, "Who... who are you?"
Xayuki looked down at her from above, his voice cold. "Fleet Admiral of Marine Headquarters, Xayuki."
"Huh?"
Bakkin blinked in confusion before turning her gaze to the assembled Marine officers at the port.
When she spotted Sengoku, Garp, and Zephyr among them, she suddenly grinned wickedly. Ignoring Xayuki entirely, she struggled to her feet and sneered, "Sengoku, has the Marine run out of capable leaders? You've let a brat take over as Fleet Admiral?"
"I suggest you let us go immediately," she continued, her voice dripping with malice. "Otherwise, Edward Newgate will lead his pirate crew to Marineford."
"See this man beside me? Doesn't he look familiar?"
"That's right, he's Edward Newgate's biological son! If Newgate finds out you've captured his precious boy, you know what'll happen!"
"Would you really risk a war over a ship of trainee Marines, causing even more deaths? That's not your style, Sengoku—"
Bang!
Before Bakkin could finish, a dull thud rang out.
The next moment, Bakkin was sent flying, crashing heavily against the ship's railing before bouncing to the ground.
In the blink of an eye, Xayuki appeared beside her. Without hesitation, he stomped on her head, pinning her to the ground.
"Old hag Bakkin, do you think I'm invisible?"
Xayuki leaned down slightly, his killing intent unrestrained.
"It doesn't matter who he is. Attacking the training ship and killing Marines is a capital offense!"
"Even if he were the son of a god, I would still execute him!"
