Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Float Float Fruit.
Seeing Kaelen, Shiki's eyes narrowed. A bounty poster flashed in his mind—the face was unmistakable.
Then came the memory of the words spoken at Marineford, now printed across newspapers.
Holding a cigar between his fingers, the Golden Lion spoke with a deep, rumbling voice.
"Don't think that inheriting Whitebeard's power gives you the right to rule the sea. If you dare stir trouble with me, be prepared to die here."
Hovering midair, his cloak billowed, blond hair whipping in the wind. Golden Lion radiated the aura of a wild beast—untamed and commanding.
Looking at him, Kaelen and Robin saw not a fallen man, but a king—an overlord of the sea.
Though his power had diminished since his prime, his spirit remained far beyond that of any ordinary pirate.
Kaelen gave a quiet chuckle. "If you think you can bury me, then come and try."
He hadn't come to talk—he came to end this.
Still, there was pity in his eyes. Golden Lion's gaunt figure and hollow face looked drained of all vitality. His time was nearly over.
"The hero arrives late. Who would've thought the once-feared overlord would fall so far?"
With a quiet sigh, Kaelen extended one hand, gently pushing Robin back a safe distance.
Then his eyes locked onto the Golden Lion, and his presence erupted with killing intent.
"Roger is gone. Whitebeard is dead. Today, I'll send off the last remnant of your era."
"In this new age, no ship can carry you, Golden Lion."
Kaelen's right fist ignited with a brilliant white glow and blasted forward through the sky.
An invisible rhythm pulsed outward, shaking the entire floating island.
"Hahaha! So it really is the power of Whitebeard... and that line, sounds just like something he'd say!"
Despite the sky-tearing punch, the Golden Lion didn't flinch. He laughed wildly—madly—and counterattacked before the blow could land.
"Shi Shi Shi—Roll!"
With his [Float-Float Fruit] awakened, the Golden Lion summoned debris, stone, and shattered trees, forming them into a massive lion.
The colossal construct roared as it lunged.
Rumble!
The world flipped in an instant.
A violent shockwave tore through the island, flattening the ground and cracking stone like it was paper.
"You've really aged, Golden Lion."
Kaelen ignored the devastation. His eyes sharpened as he launched another punch—this one serious.
The first had been a test. This was the killing blow.
Cracks carved through the air, racing toward the Golden Lion.
Within a thousand-meter radius, everything fell under Kaelen's pressure. No matter how fast Shiki tried to escape, there was no room to dodge.
"You hateful brat! I'm no old man with a white beard!"
"Lion—Chikiri Valley!"
Without hesitation, the Golden Lion charged forward, blades flashing.
Each swing of his swords propelled him like thunder. In a blink, he unleashed ten strikes, slicing the air to ribbons.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The sky itself split.
His swordsmanship, amplified by the [Float-Float Fruit], clashed violently with the pressurized space Kaelen had torn open.
"As expected... the Golden Lion really was one of the great swordsmen."
Kaelen raised an eyebrow in admiration.
He knew the man was also a formidable swordsman, though history often ignored that fact.
Perhaps both had such overwhelming power elsewhere, their swordsmanship was overshadowed.
But this clash proved it: the Golden Lion's blades were still deadly.
Yet time had caught up to him.
His strength had declined, and though he still wielded two swords, his legs—replaced with crude prosthetics—couldn't support the explosive force of his prime.
Kaelen felt both respect and sorrow for the old lion.
To honor this once-great pirate, Kaelen would give him a battle worthy of a farewell.
"Room"
His Haki surged, activating the [Shock Fruit].
A massive blue aperture expanded, covering Kaelen and the Golden Lion.
(Remember I said he could get abilities from unconscious bodies, but it'd be like an incomplete version.)
Inside this domain, Kaelen held absolute control.
In a blink, Kaelen vanished. In his place, a statue of stone appeared.
Then, he reappeared behind the Golden Lion, fist raised high.
"Your time is over, Golden Lion."
Kaelen's voice was calm. His right arm, now coated in black steel from his Armament Haki, drove forward like a meteor into Shiki's back.
Boom!
Golden Lion convulsed, his body launched through the air, spitting blood mid-flight.
He had taken two direct hits already.
Now, his breath was ragged. Sweat poured down his face.
He hadn't even seen that one coming.
He was too slow now.
Too worn down by the years.
"Hahaha... never thought I'd die at the hands of a brat."
Golden Lion floated in place, body trembling, his gaze dim and distant.
Blood dripped from his mouth, and inside, he was broken. Organs shattered. Old wounds ripped open anew.
Even if Kaelen didn't strike again, the Golden Lion wouldn't live much longer.
"Kid, you're strong," Shiki muttered. "Losing to the power of the [Shock Fruit]... there's no shame in that."
"But don't forget—"
"I'm the Golden Lion. A king who never bows. I'll die by my own will... no one else's."
"Hahaha... Roger... Whitebeard... I'm on my way..."
With one last, defiant roar, the Golden Lion's soul burned out.
Thunder rumbled overhead.
The [Float-Float Fruit] deactivated, and the floating island began to fall from the sky.
"Not good."
Kaelen vanished and reappeared beside the Golden Lion's lifeless body, catching him in midair.
He reached out.
[Ding. Congratulations to the host for touching the Golden Lion's corpse. You have obtained: Flutter-Flutter Fruit ability, The Three Types of Haki, and great swordsman-level swordsmanship.]
Kaelen opened his eyes and pressed his palm to the ground.
His newly inherited [Float-Float Fruit] surged to life.
The falling island shuddered—and stopped.
