Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Garp vs Roger
"That guy Roger really went overboard!"
Garp instantly recognized the terrifying slash fired from the bow of the Oro Jackson. It was unmistakably Roger's doing. Seeing such a blatant act of provocation, Garp's grin only widened. He rolled his neck and casually stretched.
Then, Garp reached up to loosen his tie, unfastened his collar, and in one smooth motion, pulled off his pristine Marine coat. He bent his knees slightly, preparing to launch himself toward the Roger Pirates, but was yanked back by Sengoku.
"Hey! Garp, hold on a second!"
"You're the commander of the central forces. Don't tell me, you idiot, you're just going to charge in like that?!"
"And don't you sense it? We've already got rats sneaking onto the island!"
Sengoku's grip tightened as he spoke, his voice simmering with frustration.
He had meticulously laid out this plan for a strategic trap, but clearly, Garp had other ideas. As soon as he saw the Roger Pirates, this so-called hero of the Marines, who was supposed to be holding the central line, was ready to throw all that out the window and storm the front.
With a comrade like this, it was no wonder Sengoku constantly had headaches.
What made it worse was that, at the same time the Roger Pirates appeared, Sengoku had already sensed unfamiliar presences infiltrating Lodestar Island. Through his Observation Haki, he detected two powerful auras rushing toward the center of the island.
Their target was obvious: Shanks and Buggy, locked up in the stone prison.
To pinpoint their location so precisely, the three people who had just snuck onto the island were no amateurs.
"Sengoku, what nonsense are you spouting?"
"You've always been the central commander. That's your job."
"I'm the vanguard."
"As for the rats? That's your problem to deal with. I only handle the fighting."
"Hahahahaha!"
With that, Garp shook off Sengoku's grip, bent his knees, and leapt high into the air. As his figure began to descend, he tapped the air beneath his feet and rocketed higher again. Repeating this a few times, he shot off toward the distant Oro Jackson at full speed, leaving Sengoku with nothing but his retreating back.
"Dammit! That idiot!!" Sengoku cursed, clenching his jaw. He grabbed the microphone and shouted into it, "All units, listen up! After the barrage, immediately evacuate your current sea sectors!"
"All hands, prepare for evasive maneuvers. A storm is coming!"
As his orders went out, the air was filled with the whistling of artillery shells. Dozens of Marine warships fired simultaneously, aiming to sink the Oro Jackson.
But just as the shells were about to hit the ship, dozens—no, hundreds—of black iron pellets suddenly fired from the pirate ship. Only two or three centimeters in diameter, each one struck with pinpoint accuracy at the center of an incoming shell.
One by one, the shells were pierced mid-air and exploded before reaching their target. Nearly a hundred shells, yet not a single one touched the Oro Jackson.
On the deck, another figure had appeared beside Roger without anyone noticing. Rayleigh, sword at his waist, had one hand in his beach shorts pocket. In his other hand, black pellets danced between his fingers.
"Oden and the others should already be on the island by now."
"With Garp and Sengoku here at the port, freeing Shanks and Buggy shouldn't be a problem."
"Roger, we'll need to keep those two occupied so they can't go back to assist."
Just as Rayleigh finished speaking, he sensed something and looked up toward the sky, chuckling.
"Looks like we won't have to hold them back ourselves. Garp couldn't even wait."
Roger seemed to sense it too. He grabbed his sword, Ace, looked up into the sky, and smiled brightly.
"Rayleigh, I'll leave the crew to you!"
"Try not to get hurt!"
As he spoke, a white figure had already appeared above the Oro Jackson. Garp, suspended in midair, fist clenched and body twisting, was gathering power.
Thunder rumbled in the clear sky as black lightning crackled around his fist.
"Long time no see, Roger!"
"You're as full of energy as ever!"
Full-force clash.
From above, Garp greeted him and immediately hurled his punch downward. A terrifying blast of Haki shot out like a beam of light, roaring toward the Oro Jackson.
On deck, Roger saw Garp descending. The smile vanished from his face. Without a word to Rayleigh, he leapt into the air, his eyes flashing as he swung Ace upward.
Divine Departure.
A black slash, laced with red lightning, soared upward, colliding with Garp's blast of Haki. The two forces, infused with overwhelming Conqueror's Haki, clashed in the sky. In that instant, all sound vanished.
The blinding light outshone the sun, forcing everyone to shield their eyes. A massive shockwave burst out in all directions.
On nearby ships and the docks, younger Marines who couldn't withstand the overflowing Conqueror's Haki fainted on the spot.
At the same time, the shockwave rippled across the sea, creating towering waves over ten meters high. The force pushed back the entire Marine blockade at Lodestar Island's harbor, opening a path straight through.
Rayleigh took one glance at Roger and Garp and immediately gave the order: set sail.
The Oro Jackson rode the waves and charged toward the harbor.
At the port, Sengoku's face darkened at the sight of the Oro Jackson riding a ten-meter wave straight at him.
He couldn't help but curse Garp again in his heart.
He unfastened his Marine cloak and was about to strike when a cold voice rang out nearby.
"Ice Time!"
Kuzan stepped in front of Sengoku, both arms outstretched. Twin pillars of ice shot from his hands and into the incoming wave. In an instant, the water began to freeze.
Within seconds, the monstrous wave stopped mid-surge, solidifying into an icy wall more than ten meters high right before Sengoku.
Kuzan's Devil Fruit powers continued working. The entire harbor, capable of docking dozens of warships, was frozen into solid ground.
The Oro Jackson was now stuck atop the frozen wave, barely a hundred meters from the dock.
At that moment, shadowy figures shot out from the Oro Jackson.
Rayleigh leapt from the ship's bow and in the blink of an eye appeared in front of Sengoku, swinging his sword at the Fleet Admiral's chest.
"Silvers Rayleigh!"
CLANG.
Sengoku's eyes narrowed as he saw the attacker. His body rapidly expanded, golden light erupting from his form. A giant golden palm blocked Rayleigh's blade, producing a crisp metallic ring that echoed across the island.
At the center of Lodestar Island, Yoriichi leaned against a rock wall. Hearing the commotion from the harbor, his eyes sparkled with interest.
Suddenly, as if sensing something, he turned toward the forest and stood up, drawing his long katana.
"Yah-hoho."
"Kid! You're my opponent?!"
A shadow burst from the forest and reached Yoriichi in an instant. The man wielded twin swords, bringing them down from above.
Oden Two-Sword Style: Paradise Waterfall.
"Kozuki Oden!"
"You didn't join Roger and the others?"
Yoriichi murmured in surprise as he recognized the attacker. He raised his blade and caught Oden's strike head-on. Their Conqueror's Haki clashed violently.
Oden's powerful slash cracked the ground beneath Yoriichi's feet, and a deep hum resonated from the island's center.
Above the sea, Garp and Roger slowly began descending after their exchange. When Roger heard the booming hum from the island's center, his expression changed.
Garp saw that look and grinned even brighter.
