Chapter 4: Ch-4 Roronoa Zoro!!
Marine 153rd Branch – Outside the Yard
Outside the wall of the Marine base, Luffy, Lucen, and Koby peered over cautiously. In the center of the yard, tied to a large wooden post, stood a fearsome figure.
"Th-That black bandana… the cloth tied around his waist… and that intimidating aura!!"
"IT'S HIM!" Koby gasped and fell off the wall like a proper sidekick, his whole body trembling. "That's Roronoa Zoro!"
"So that's him, huh?" Luffy muttered, eyes curious. "Looks to me like those ropes are easy to break."
"Break? Come on, why break them? Can't we just untie the guy?" Lucen asked, staring at Luffy like he was an idiot.
"YOU TWO, STOP JOKING!!" Koby yelled from the ground. "If you set him free, he'll KILL EVERYONE!"
Zoro opened one eye, spotted them, and growled.
"Hey, you."
"Huh?" x2
"Ah!!"
"You're an eyesore. Get lost." Zoro's voice was gruff, a dangerous smirk on his bloodied face. Despite his injuries, there was fire in his eyes.
"Look, he's smiling," Luffy said with a serious face.
"Yeah… must have some serious willpower to still be conscious with that much blood loss," Lucen added, impressed.
"Luffy! You can't seriously be thinking of letting him join your crew!" Koby pleaded.
Just then, Lucen heard a noise behind him. He turned and spotted a cute little girl carrying a ladder.
She climbed up, looked at the three, and made a quiet "shh" gesture.
"Don't! It's dangerous!" Koby whispered urgently, clearly the only one panicking.
Zoro raised a brow. "What are you doing here, brat?"
"Umm… I made some rice balls for you! You haven't eaten in days, right?" she said with a smile. "This is my first time making them…"
"Do you want to die or something?... get lost"
"I am not-"
Before Zoro could finish, a man with weird hair and two Marines entered the yard.
"You shouldn't pick on little girls," Helmeppo said smugly.
"Captain's bastard son… tch," Zoro muttered.
Helmeppo's face twitched with anger. He strutted over, snatched the rice ball, took a bite… and immediately coughed violently.
"DISGUSTING! You put sugar in them! Rice balls need SALT!" he shouted, throwing the rest on the ground and stomping them viciously.
Rika stood there, tears welling up.
"That's so cruel…" Koby whispered.
Helmeppo, still fuming, pointed to a notice board that forbade aiding criminals, and ordered a Marine to throw Rika out.
The Marine hesitated, but Helmeppo threatened to tell his father — Captain Morgan.
"Curl up," the Marine whispered to Rika gently. "Try to land safely…"
And with that, he threw her over the wall.
Luffy caught her midair.
Koby hurried to check on her.
"Are you okay?" he asked. "Those bastards…"

Back Inside the Yard
Helmeppo turned back to Zoro. "Didn't expect you to last this long. You better remember your promise."
Zoro glared. "I'll survive. Just keep your end of the deal."
Helmeppo flinched at Zoro's gaze and quickly walked off.
Meanwhile, Luffy and Lucen had jumped into the yard over the wall.
"You guys again?! Leave before I he tells his dad!" Zoro said.
"Oh yeah?" Luffy smirked. "I'm looking for someone to join my pirate crew."
As Luffy rambled on about his dream, Lucen wandered over to the muddy rice ball on the ground, picked it up, and took a bite.
"I haven't made up my mind yet," Luffy said. "Everyone says you're a bad guy."
Zoro looked up. "Bad guy, huh? I'm not joining you. I've got my own dream. I'll survive this on my own — that bastard promised me."
"If I were you, I'd be dead in a week," Luffy replied with a grin.
"A week? I wouldn't last four days," Lucen added, munching.
Zoro smirked. "Then we're not the same. Go find someone else."
Luffy and Lucen turned to leave.
"Hey, wait."
They paused.
Zoro looked at Lucen. "Can I have that?"
"This?" Lucen held up the half-eaten, muddy rice ball. "It's all dirty…"
"Well, when you're starving, you can't be picky," Luffy shrugged.
Lucen sighed and handed it over.
Zoro devoured the rest in one bite, then swallowed with effort.
"You trying to kill yourself?" Luffy blinked.
Zoro coughed. "Tell that girl… 'The rice ball was delicious. Thank you very much.'"
Luffy chuckled. Not because it was funny — but because he'd just decided something.
"Shishishi~ I've made up my mind. You're joining my crew!"
"Hahaha, Zoro — you've got potential to be a real tsundere," Lucen teased.
"Tsundere? What's that? Shishishi~" Luffy laughed.
"HEY!! What's that supposed to mean?!" Zoro shouted, watching them walk away.

Food Foo Restaurant
"Really? He said that?" Rika's eyes sparkled.
The trio was now seated at a small restaurant run by Ririka, Rika's mom. They were stuffing their faces.
"Madam, your cooking is amazing!" Lucen grinned, biting into a massive chunk of grilled meat.
"Eat as much as you like, sweetheart. A handsome boy like you needs proper nourishment," Ririka giggled, quietly adding more meat to his plate.
"…Is he really the scary person everyone says he is?" Koby asked.
"No. He didn't do anything wrong," Rika replied. "People are just afraid of him."
She explained how Helmeppo's pet wolf had attacked her, and Zoro killed it to protect her. That's why he was arrested. But with Zoro's fearsome title as a Pirate Hunter, even Morgan didn't want to confront him directly. So they gave him a "deal" — survive one month without food. If he tried to escape, Rika and her mother would be targeted.
"You're right…" Koby murmured. "Maybe he has a bad temper… but chasing pirates isn't really a crime." Though he seem to having hard time accepting it.
Lucen, now full, looked seriously at Koby.
"Koby… you want to be a Marine officer, right?"
"Y-Yeah!"
"Then remember this: A coin has two sides. So does every story. Justice based on bias… isn't justice at all."
"I… guess that makes sense…" Koby muttered.
"Haha, don't stress it. You'll understand eventually. Just don't blindly believe everything you're told."
"Right! Like here — the only bad guys are the Morgans!" Rika said angrily.
Suddenly — BAM!
The restaurant doors burst open—

AUTHOR NOTE
I don't know what you felt about this chapter but I feel it's very much similar to that of manga and anime but I couldn't do anything about that mainly it's the very begining of a series that ended in one or two ep in anime and 3-4 chapter of manga with a very simple plot yet with a good dept in it.
The MC is weak only have three gadgets which doen't leave many option to be in this whole arc then to alter few things here and there.
Also many might wonder why not tell Zoro to not belive in this lie than I only say in One Piece honor and pride are taken very seriously atleast by most strong people.
But don't worry rest arc won't heavly rely on actual anime or manga. It's just when I write something I try that atleast it make some sense to me.
