Chapter 15: Chapter 15:Parting Ways. New Ally?
"Luffy....I think i should leave the crew." said Aden sadly.
"WHAT!!!?? What do you mean leave the crew!!??" shouted Luffy in shock.
"I agree with Luffy. What do you think you're doing? Didn't you promise Luffy you'd help him in his goal?" asked Nami.
"That's precisely why i should leave." Aden said seriously.
"What is that supposed to mean!? You promised me you'd stick around." said Luffy sadly.
"Because i'm too strong." was Aden's straightforward answer.
"Modest much?" said Sanji.
"No, no. He's got a point. I think i get what he means." said Zoro, after a bit of thought.
"What!? What does he mean?" asked Luffy desperately.
"It means that i'm...." Aden began to explain, only to be interrupted by Sanji.
"He feels he's holding us back by staying. Think about it Luffy. If he is as strong as he is, we will always fight with the knowledge of him being close to help. It will not let us push ourselves to be stronger." Zoro explained.
"I mean...Yeah...Pretty much covered it, mosshead." said Aden, a bit miffed he got interrupted.
"That's stupid! I refuse!" said Luffy stubbornly.
"*sigh* Luffy...If i stay, sooner or later i will not be able to help you. If you keep relying on me, eventually it will get someone hurt. And i refuse to be responsible for that. If i leave, it will force you to push yourselves, and not rely on me as a last resort." explained Aden calmly.
"We won't rely on you as a ...." started Luffy only to be interrupted by a loud, thundering bang accompanied by a shout.
"HOW CAN YOU KNOW??!!" shouted Aden at Luffy, scaring everyone.
"Look me in the eye and tell me, that you can go on without relying on me! Tell me you would not get stronger if i leave!" shouted Aden at his brother, with tears collecting in his eyes.
"Luffy, he's right. He's too strong to stay with us. You may not want him to leave, but it might be the best for all of us. Aden included." reasoned Sanji.
"Exactly. Luffy i don't want to leave, trust me i really don't. But it might be best for everyone.
Besides, you heard the others. They're scared of me." said Aden calmly.
"True." said Usopp without thinking, only to be elbowed in his ribs by Nami.
"I mean, he's not wrong." said Zoro.
"Okay that's it!!" shouted Buggy suddenly as he lost his patience
"Are you serious!!? He was in the crew the longest, and after we joined, all he did was his job and train. He never gave us any reason to fear him, but he gets mad once. Once! For a bloody good reason and you're suddenly afraid he will hurt you!?" Buggy defended Aden angrily, as he considered him to be a true friend even though the met not too long ago. And Aden helped get him out of his darkness.
"Buggy. It's okay. Thank you, friend." Aden calmed his jester friend down.
"...Okay. I'm calm. Kinda."
"*sigh* You got a point." admitted Zoro and Sanji at the same time.
"Luffy?" asked Aden carefully.
Luffy didn't say anything for a while. He was looking up into bis brother's eyes, and saw true regret and sorrow. He saw Aden didn't want to leave. Or to go back on his word. But he also understood the reasoning. He may act all goofy sometimes, but he's not stupid. Aden made sure of that when they were kids. Yet another thing Luffy owed him for.
"Make me a new promise then." said Luffy seriously.
"Name it." replied Aden with a nod and without a single moment of hesitation.
"Become the strongest in the world! I won't accept anything less from my brother. I will become the King of Pirates on my own, and when i do, we can rejoin forces again." suggested Luffy with a beaming grin of hope.
"Luffy..." Aden began tearing up again, but wiped them away as soon as he noticed
"Sure. I can promise you that. And i will add a bit of my own. I will come find you from time to time. We can catch up like that. What do you say?" Aden suggested.
"Of course! You're my brother after all." Luffy agreed without hesitation.
"It's a deal then."
The others watching the scene in front of them were simply watching the two brothers basically say goodbye.
Nobody spoke as it was not the time to interrupt.
As the emotions settled, and the crownd dispersed some time later, a new issue arose.
"I'm coming with him." Buggy stated.
"What?"
"I'm. Coming. With him." he repeated slowly.
"What?" came a question from Aden.
"But why?" asked Usopp, confused.
"First: Even though he's really strong, he will need someone to have his back. Second: He is my friend and i owe him at least that much.
I don't wanna leave either, but i am sticking with him." Buggy explained.
"Buggy, you..." Sanji started to speak.
"Okay." Luffy said simply with a small smile.
"Luffy??" came a confused question from Zoro.
"Keep an eye on him, yeah?." Luffy said.
"Gotcha. I will." said Buggy with a small sad smile "For what it's worth, though, i really enjoyed being a part of this crew." said Buggy, filled with happiness.
"And it was fun to have you around."
"Buggy, you sure about this?" asked Aden.
"Wouldn't have said it if i wasn't." stated Buggy with determination.
"Okay, fine. We'll be off then." Aden informed, before turning to Nami.
"Take care, Little Thief. And keep them in line, okay? Especially Luffy. He can be a bit stubborn." said Aden with a smile.
"Aden.." Nami began with a shaky voice, but took a calming breath "Okay. I will. You take care of yourself too, you hear me, Airpuff!" she ordered.
"Will do." Aden confirmed "See ya, Nami" Aden turned and walked away, waving over his shoulder "Bye guys!"
"See ya, Bro!" Luffy waved back.
The others gave their kwn versions of goodbye, and set off back to Merry.
.
Nojiko looked conflicted. She said goodbye to Nami, but she still felt weird for some reason.
This was also after the Straw-Hat Crew left, with Nami stealing the villagers' wallets, as a final goodbye.
"Go." came a single word from Genzo.
"What?" Nojiko asked confused.
"That Aden fellow is still on the island, looking for a ship to 'steal'. Nobody is gonna care though, by the way. Go with him." he said simply.
"Why would i do that? I have a home here." she weakly retorted.
"Oh please. You wanted to leave for years. The only reason you stayed was Nami." Genzo called her bluff.
"Besides, they will need a navigator, someone who can predict weather. You and Nami have that natural talent. She might be a tad better at it, but you'd still be hardpressed to find a better navigator than you or her." Genzo reasoned.
"What about the..?" before she even finished her question, Genzo interrupted.
"The orchard will be well cared for, i promise you that."
Nojiko looked to the sky, with a look of contemplation.
.
"Okay now what?" asked Buggy, as they were left without a ship.
"How the hell should i know?! I expected to just fly, but you decided to stick around! Not that i mind, but still." Aden respondedy frustrated.
"Okay okay i get it." Buggy held his hands in a placating manner.
"We'll need a ship, that's for sure. But how to get one?" Aden thought out loud.
"I think i can help with that." someone said.
"Yeah and how would you...?...Nojiko?" Aden asked, confused.
"Some people agreed to give you a ship, when i said i'm joining you." Nojiko said as a matter of fact.
"Oh that's so nice of them to....WAIT WHAT!? What do you mean you're joining us??" shouted a surprised clown.
"I have to agree with the Puzzle-Man. What do you mean?" said Aden much more calmly than Buggy, who was too shocked to notice the jab.
"I mean what i said. I wanted to leave for a while, and you're the perfect opportunity to do so. Besides i'm just as good a navigator as Nami. You're gonna need me." Nojiko explained.
"*sigh* I left one crew because i didn't want to hold them back, only to start my own? What the hell?" Aden held his forehead, as he felt a headache coming.
"Hey! I must remind you i was on Roger's crew for some time. I may have gottem rusty over the years, but trust me. I am motivated to get stronger, after you picked me up." Buggy defended himself.
"Okay, fine. But i hope you are prepared to get stronger. Both of you." Aden said seriously.
"Oh i am. I may even have something for that. But i would love to know what it does first." said Nojiko as she pulled out a small chest from her bag, that went unnoticed until now.
Opening the box, she revealed a Devil Fruit.
Aden and Buggy were shocked. These were rare to find, let alone in a Blue.
"Where in hell did you get that??" asked Aden and Buggy in sync.
"It grew on one of my trees a couple years ago. I didn't know what to do with it so i kept it hidden." she explained, closing the chest and putting it back in the bag.
"Okay, let's go get our ship. I have a Devil Fruit Encyclopedia in my bag so we can see if the one you have is in there." said Aden, as he and Buggy picked up their own bags, and followed Nojiko to their new ship.
(Alright. Another one here. What a twist huh? Now we really change the story. No spoilers, but let's just say, the changes will even affect the Straw-Hats. Enemies will be fought, allies gathered, and all manner of shenanigans will ensue.
I also plan to break the rules of the world a bit, but not too much. I will give small hints in future chapters, so just let me know what you think if you catch them.
Omega Out.)
