Only I Awaken The Forbidden SSS-Rank Dragons

Chapter 11: Fighting the abomination!

But Aleron had misjudged and underestimated the abominations gravely.

The moment his rod pierced the grotesque figure, Ashkar also swooped in from behind and released a breath of fire.

The flames shot out like a blazing tide, wrapping around the creature's body before it could even react. Its skin began to melt almost instantly, the sickening stench of scorched flesh filling the air.

It tried to twist away, but the pain and surprise had slowed its movements. It was already too late.

The flames had weakened it, and because it had focused on Ashkar's sudden attack, it hadn't been able to block Aleron's strike in time.

The rod drove through its skull with a dull crack. Its hollow eyes dimmed immediately, and the body collapsed, the fire still burning along its limbs as it twitched once before going still.

Aleron exhaled slightly, his grip tightening around the rod as he turned to face the next abomination. But before he could even move—

A guttural roar ripped through the air.

Roarrrrr!

Dad, watch out! Ashkar's voice slammed into his mind.

Aleron turned without hesitation, but all he could see was a large claw covered in flames hurling towards him.

The abomination's hollow eyes were filled with darkness as it stared at Aleron as though he were already dead.

It's still alive? Aleron was stunned seeing the same creature who was covered in flames striking at him, but he didn't hesitate.

He bent forward immediately, the claw sweeping just above his back and smashing into the stone wall behind him. Stone fragments burst outwards, peppering his shoulder.

Using the momentum from his dodge, Aleron launched himself sideways and rolled. In the same motion, he reached out and ripped the rod free from the abomination's skull.

"What the hell is this thing?" he muttered under his breath as his eyes locked on the abomination. Aleron could hardly believe that the abomination hadn't died even after all that.

He cursed under his breath and stepped back quickly, widening the gap as the creature turned its body with a jerking motion, the flames still flickering along its shoulder.

Dad, are you alright? Ashkar's voice echoed in his head.

Before Aleron could respond, the dragon dove down again, his wings flaring wide.

He plummeted toward the abomination, who immediately roared again and lunged upward, its claws reaching out towards Ashkar.

Roarrrrr.

But Ashkar's speed was too high. In one smooth motion, he tucked his wings, twisted midair, and slammed his entire body into the abomination's chest.

His claws dug deep into the creature's torso, and his fangs followed. A wide gash opened across the abomination's chest as blood sprayed in thick, black streams.

The creature swung wildly with its massive hand, trying to tear Ashkar off, but Ashkar moved fast. He turned with his jaws still clamped down and pulled.

With a loud snap, the abomination's hand tore off completely, the flesh dangling uselessly from Ashkar's mouth. A raw scream tore from the creature's throat, its legs buckling.

But that wasn't the end.

Aleron caught movement in the corner of his eye. He turned around and noticed three abominations approaching the location.

One leapt from the adjacent roof and landed hard, cracking the ground while the others stormed in from opposite sides.

Aleron's body moved before his mind could react.

In an instant, he sprinted to the left, barely slipping between two of the creatures as their claws swept past his waist.

He stepped on the edge of a broken pillar, pushed upward, and used the rebound to scale the side of the building.

His hand gripped a ledge, and he pulled himself up quickly, not daring to look back. By the time the nearest abomination reached the wall, Aleron was already on the rooftop.

From up there, he could see everything clearly and because it was too far away, the abominations couldn't do anything to him.

Glancing down, he noticed the dragon slam into the injured abomination again, tackling it onto its back. His jaws went straight for the throat.

The creature tried to raise its arm, but it no longer had one. With a brutal twist of his neck, Ashkar's jaws clamped down around the neck and pulled.

There was a thick tearing sound as the abomination's head was yanked from its body.

The head tumbled down, and Ashkar didn't even pause. His jaws opened wider, and in the same moment, the head was swallowed whole.

Ashkar, come back!

Glancing down from the top of the building, Aleron noticed that the abominations seemed to be planning an assault on Ashkar from their subtle gestures.

He couldn't let Ashkar be endangered.

Dad, it's so delicious! You have to try it! Ashkar's joyful voice resounded in Aleron's mind. Heeding his words, the dragon quickly flapped his wings and flew to the top of the building to meet him.

Dad, I can feel my strength has increased greatly! Ashkar said proudly, his gaze locked onto the abominations below, a greedy light flashing through his eyes.

Aleron patted the dragon's head. One man and one dragon remained staring at the abominations below as they growled repeatedly, eager to tear Aleron apart.

Recalling something, Aleron ignored them and said, Ashkar, keep watch. I want to check something out for a bit.

Okay, Dad! The dragon nodded his head while Aleron walked a few steps away from the edge and slowly began to explore the notifications he had received from the system.

[Congratulations on killing a Tier 1 Abomination!]

[Rewards: 1000 EXP, a rank increase.]

Oh? So that's what they're called, Aleron thought with a smirk. Abominations, huh? I wonder where these come from and what their purpose for being here is…

Although he was slightly curious, Aleron knew he couldn't get answers to his questions for now, as the system would only demand more origin energy.

[The rewards have been distributed!]

The notification flashed, and a wave of mysterious energy flooded his body. Aleron watched in surprise as his strength grew rapidly.

My strength… it feels far greater compared to the last time, Aleron mused and quickly checked his stats.

[Origin Initiate Rank 6: 200/1600]

[Strength: 16]

[Agility: 17]

[Defense: 15]

[Origin Energy: 26/26]

Because I broke through twice, my origin energy is now full again? Aleron understood. The increase in rank had taken him to Rank 5, and the 1000 EXP reward had then pushed him to Rank 6.

If I can kill more abominations, wouldn't I reach Rank 12 quickly? Then Origin Apprentice and… Origin Adept! Aleron's eyes burned with fiery light.

He clenched his fist, and his gaze hardened.

This was the perfect moment to increase his strength.

All of you that did this to me… I will quickly grow stronger and get my revenge!

After coming to this decision, Aleron was just about to begin planning with Ashkar when his eyes caught sight of a notification panel flashing to the right.

What's that? Aleron was curious. Just as he thought this, the system flashed, and the information was displayed.

[New Mission!]

[Slay 10,000 Abominations to awaken an Origin Ability!]

[Abominations killed: 1/10,000]

What???

System, what is an Origin Ability?

Thankfully, this time the system didn't demand any origin energy from him.

[An Origin Ability is an ancestral ability that has been awakened from the ancestors.]

[Kill ten thousand abominations to awaken an SSS-ranked Origin Ability!]

Aleron was puzzled. I thought summoning was an ability in itself? Like a superpower?

[No. The Origin Body is just suitable for contracting summons. Although there are Origin Abilities that are beneficial for contracting summons using the Origin Body, in the end, the two concepts are still vastly different.]

What… Aleron felt his breath quicken. If I could get an Origin Ability… then my path to revenge would be far easier!

He turned his gaze to Ashkar and said solemnly, "Ashkar, we have a lot of work to do. We are going to slay at least ten thousand abominations!"
