Only I Awaken The Forbidden SSS-Rank Dragons

Chapter 6: Ashkar Surrounded?!

"There has been a breach in the Genesis Protocol."

Inside a dim control room illuminated by flickering fluorescent lights, the cold voice of the Coil's central system echoed.

The hum of machines grew louder as red lights flared across the dashboard.

A young man jolted awake at his desk, nearly knocking over a half-finished energy drink. His eyes darted to the console.

"What the hell... Breach?" he muttered as his fingers flew across the keyboard.

He pulled up the logs. Surveillance feeds began flooding the screen, and a timestamp blinked on the monitor.

[Warning: Vital Signs Offline – Coil Member ID: 991]

[Nearby Units: None – Delay in Response Confirmed]

[Location of Termination: Outer sector. Perimeter breach.]

Within mere moments, he had discovered what went wrong; it wasn't a dragon that had been caught.

"Three members of the Genesis Coil have been killed? Because the other two were far away, the alert wasn't delivered in time. But now another member has been killed right here. Who the hell is provoking the Coil?"

He opened the body's final recorded signal data and discovered that there were no energy pulses, heat signatures, or coordinates.

His brow furrowed deeper. "No beast signature… this wasn't a failed containment. This was targeted."

His hands flew over the interface again, linking security drones and facility channels.

"All units," he said into the mic, voice hard and urgent, "we have a hostile intruder. Unknown ID. All surveillance drones in the southern perimeter are to scan for a humanoid with mid-range thermal output. Authorization Code: Scarlet Rain."

"Whoever you are…" he muttered to himself, leaning in toward the screen as flickers of static-fed footage rolled, "You've got some nerve."

Unbeknownst to him, the cameras had missed the slight distortion that passed the outer trees moments ago.

Ashkar's figure was obscured by the darkness, so he didn't realize when a black shadow briefly passed in the footage being displayed.

Aleron's eyes narrowed as he saw the sky flare red. The piercing alarm that followed shook the forest with mechanical rage.

He didn't need anyone to tell him that something had gone wrong. Could it be Ashkar? His thoughts moved, and he quickly called out in his mind.

Ashkar! Son, can you hear me? We need to leave now!

Unfortunately, even after waiting for a few minutes, he didn't receive a response from Ashkar.

"Shit!" he cursed, and with instincts kicking in, he darted toward the building's perimeter. His heart pounded rapidly with every step he took.

He didn't ponder on his choice too much. Although he had barely spent a few hours with Ashkar, the dragon had brought warmth to his life.

The trees around him rustled unnaturally as he ran. Just then, he heard a low mechanical hum.

He instantly turned his gaze to the direction of the noise and noticed a drone above the trees.

Faint glimmers of red lights bobbed through the mist, scanning the terrain.

He hid behind a tree, then turned his attention to the system.

System! Do you have a way to locate Ashkar? He was nervous but tried to calm himself and ask.

A faint response blinked on his interface.

[The tracking function hasn't been unlocked yet.]

Aleron was disappointed by the system's response but didn't take it to heart.

He waited for the drone to finish scanning the perimeter before approaching silently through the shadows toward a building not too far away.

Just as he reached the building, he immediately activated his Infernal Eyes and scanned his surroundings.

He soon caught sight of a glowing red heat signature.

He hid behind a wall, deactivated the Infernal Eyes, then glanced toward the direction of the heat signature.

A Genesis Coil enforcer rushed toward the southern location where he had previously killed the guard.

Since he didn't want to alert the Genesis Protocol of his location, he waited until the guard had passed before moving forward.

Ashkar? As he rushed forward, Aleron also called out in his mind to check if he could still communicate with Ashkar.

Just then, he heard a few voices coming from a building ahead. After hesitating slightly, he decided to approach and see what was going on.

"I don't know what you are, little freak," an enforcer muttered, "but you'll make a fine test subject."

Aleron was shocked. He saw Ashkar surrounded by more than ten summoned creatures.

Although Ashkar was strong, he was a newborn and couldn't deal with more than ten rank 2 summons.

Aleron didn't hesitate and quickly rushed into the battle from the shadows like a bullet.

Grabbing an enforcer by the arm, he twisted it backward with a sickening pop.

The man cried out in pain, but the next moment, Aleron's devilish hands caught his neck and he immediately twisted it off, claiming the man's life.

Aleron's fist crashed into the chest of the man beside him, not hesitating to attack. Immediately, the man's ribs cracked.

He followed with a spin and slammed his elbow into the man's temple, causing the enforcer to drop without another word. He was dead.

"Dad!" Ashkar cried in relief, flying into Aleron's arms. "They... They were trying to put something on me."

Aleron noticed the faint glint of a collar device lying nearby and his anger flared.

Staring at them, he shouted fiercely, "Who the fuck do you think you are?"

As he spoke, he subconsciously activated the Infernal Eyes. Immediately, most of them felt a burning sensation on their skin.

They stared at Aleron, whose eyes were now like fiery red slits, in shock.

An origin ability? They were stunned.

They knew that in this world, humans couldn't only contract summons but could also awaken an origin ability, though it was a very rare occurrence which happened only once in a million summomers.

Noticing this, their eyes lit up with greed. If they could study the origin ability closely, it would yield powerful results for their experiments.

Ashkar's gaze scanned the crowd as their beasts slowly approached him. He knew he was doomed.

There was only one way he could escape, and that was… fusion.

Ashkar, we have to fuse in order to survive this.

Ashkar's stunned voice resounded in his mind. We can do that?

Yes, he replied, then turned to the system. How do we fuse?

[By syncing your origin energy with your summon, strengthening your origin bond, you can fuse with the dragon and gain its abilities.]

Aleron then relayed the system's words to Ashkar.

The dragon seemed to understand, and soon they began linking their origin energy, just like the connection they had formed during the contract process.

In a blink, the process was complete. Ashkar flew and then dove headfirst into Aleron.

The moment it happened, Ashkar's eyes glowed with a golden light, just like Aleron, who was experiencing the same.

Flames spiraled from Ashkar's scales as his body dissolved into light.

That light poured into Aleron, wrapping around him like armor.

His skin darkened to a molten hue, with crimson veins glowing beneath.

Dragon scales rapidly covered his body, and his height slightly increased to two meters.

Horns sprouted from his head, and his already fiery red eyes turned golden, causing them to sparkle slightly.

[Fusion form activated!]
