After saying that, he left her in pure confusion and distress. It was the first time he had the last word, and he felt satisfied seeing her puzzled face. But this was just the beginning, there were many surprises he had already prepared for her.

Rainee stood there for a few minutes, wondering what made him so confident. Was there really something about Lucas that she didn't know yet? That couldn't be right. Should she talk to him about it? But she decided not to, she was planning to see what Alex was hiding up his sleeve.

For some reason, she chose the dress that Alex liked and paid for it, even though it was the most expensive one out of the three. She also paid for Lucas's suit before leaving the store.

One week later – Wedding day

"Ah… Mom, don't touch my hair."

He moved back from his mom's reach, and she clicked her tongue in irritation.

"Tch… This kid... Let's go and see your sister. Oh, by the way, you prepared the video, right?"

Rainee's and Lucas's parents had planned a short video of their childhood, how they grew up together and were now planning to spend their lives together. Sam was the editor and had made a five-minute video featuring childhood pictures, videos, and some clips of their dating life. They also added short messages from parents and friends.

"Yeah, Mom… All set."

Everything was ready. Rainee had packed her bags to move into Lucas's apartment. She was in the bridal makeup room, getting ready. Her parents were beyond happy. Their only daughter was finally marrying the one they believed to be perfect. Rainee's and Lucas's parents were also close friends, and they had shipped their kids together since childhood.

"Are you ready, Rainee?"

Her mom asked while opening the door, seeing her daughter lost in thought. Rainee came out of her trance upon seeing her mom and brother and smiled at them. They both were stunned by how beautiful she looked.

"She can't be my sister… right?"

"You look so beautiful, Rainee. Oh my god, My daughter is so pretty."

She didn't reply, just smiled beautifully. Something was clearly bothering her. Her mom understood and smiled softly, thinking she must just be nervous.

"Don't be nervous, Rainee… I know you must be scared to start this new journey, but believe me, everything will go smoothly. I think Lucas is a nice kid, he'll take care of you even more than we did. And if he doesn't, then you can always come back to us. You have us, no matter what. Okay?"

Rainee's eyes welled up with tears, and she stood up to hug her mom. Her mom hugged her back, getting emotional as well. Sam blinked rapidly to stop his tears, but he couldn't, so he stepped out to cry freely.

"He went out to cry."

Her mom laughed through her tears. Rainee laughed too. She wasn't nervous because of the wedding itself, but because of what Alex had told her. Her mind kept circling back to it, what if he really tried to ruin her wedding? But no matter what, she wouldn't believe him.

After what felt like forever, the moment came when Lucas saw Rainee walking toward him, holding her father's hand. His heart was beating so fast, he could hear it in his ears. It felt so unreal, like he was dreaming. He couldn't wait to make her his wife. He gulped hard and took her hand from her father's grip.

She smiled sweetly and stood beside him. Sam, acting as the speaker, cleared his throat so loudly that everyone flinched.

"Ah-ah… Hi everyone, I'm her annoying brother. Today, she's finally going to leave our house, and everything is gonna belong to me. I pity my Lucas Bro sometimes. I don't know how he's going to tolerate her all his life. But before you guys make your vows, I have… in fact, we all have a small surprise for you. Please look at the screen behind you."

After some laughter from the guests, Rainee and Lucas turned around to watch. Lucas hugged her shoulders, and they both looked at the screen with bright smiles. A video began playing, but Sam frowned in confusion, this wasn't the video he had prepared.

It was a night-vision clip of Lucas entering a luxury hotel room. Two minutes later, a woman entered the same room, her face blurred. Then came a daytime clip of Lucas exiting the room with messy, sleepy hair, accompanied by the same woman.

Lucas felt the ground slip beneath his feet. He was stunned, and terrified. Rainee's eyes widened, tears swelling up. Their parents and guests were in shock, whispering and murmuring among themselves. Everyone could guess what had happened in that room.

But that wasn't all. A series of footage followed, showing Lucas meeting the same woman multiple times. There was CCTV of car footage of them kissing, pictures of them at the airport together, and more, all set to dramatic background music. Then a news clip began to play.

"An employee of the STY company under Fraser's sold confidential information and private project data to rival companies. He was found having an affair with STY's CEO, Mrs. Lauren Wilson, and was stealing information behind her back. After suffering heavy losses, she discovered that her own lover had betrayed her. Allegedly, he is also dating another woman and planning to marry her."

Lucas grabbed Rainee's forearm and turned her to face him, desperation in his eyes.

"R-Rainee, I can explain… Please don't believe it. It's not true. It's all Alex's doing."

She looked up at him, her empty, teary eyes about to overflow.

"I know... He planned it all."

Lucas sighed in relief and took deep breath thinking Rainee still trust him. He smiled brightly being so grateful. He tried to hug her but she stepped back.

"But.... It doesn't change the fact that you have been cheating on me all the time. ...Right.. ? "
