Part Time Teacher in Konoha

Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Skipping Class

A new day—Wednesday.

Kitazawa put on his clothes and went next door to Ichiraku Ramen for breakfast.

While eating, he reviewed his current missions.

Since receiving the system, he had triggered eight missions in total.

Only three were still unfinished, assigned by Yakumo Kurama, Hinata Hyūga, and Sasuke Uchiha.

Helping Yakumo Kurama return to the Ninja Academy was the most troublesome of the three.

Fortunately, Kitazawa had Kurenai Yūhi's assistance.

They had already arranged to visit the Kurama clan together on Saturday.

After breakfast, Kitazawa headed to the classroom.

The first period today was his own class, Will of Fire.

"Kitazawa‑sensei."

At the sight of him, Hinata Hyūga felt a surge of delight, yet her strict upbringing and shy nature kept her emotions in check; she still appeared reserved.

Kitazawa sat naturally beside her.

The system had designated Hinata as his desk mate.

To keep the mission from failing, he had to play along—at least act the part.

Besides, who could dislike someone as cute as Hinata?

"Hinata," Kitazawa turned and said, "come to my office after this class."

"Y‑Yes… okay."

Hinata blinked in surprise, then nodded.

"Aren't you going to ask why?" Kitazawa asked with a smile.

"What's the reason?" Hinata tilted her head, asking obediently.

"Special training," Kitazawa replied.

Hinata immediately recalled what had happened in the grove yesterday.

In a month she would spar with Toranosuke, and Kitazawa had promised to give her special training.

"Thank you, Kitazawa‑sensei," she murmured, cheeks flushing as she looked away.

Thinking of yesterday, she remembered how she had hugged Kitazawa in fright and felt embarrassed.

Why is she blushing? Kitazawa wondered, noticing the change in her face.

Just then, a commotion erupted in the classroom.

Kitazawa turned and saw Sasuke Uchiha walk in.

He couldn't help but think, Read more books, look at the Uchihas less.

Sasuke scanned the room, paused, then altered course.

He stopped in front of Kitazawa and said, "Good morning, Kitazawa‑sensei."

"Good morning," Kitazawa nodded with a smile.

Not far away, Shikamaru Nara and the others exchanged looks.

"Did the sun rise in the west today?"

Kiba Inuzuka glanced out the window. "Is this the first time Sasuke's greeted a teacher on his own?"

"I believe it is," Shikamaru mused.

A genius from the proud Uchiha clan, Sasuke was notoriously aloof toward teachers—especially with an exceptionally talented older brother as a benchmark.

So why the sudden politeness?

"My guess is Kitazawa‑sensei teaches well," Shino Aburame said, adjusting his sunglasses.

"Sasuke‑kun!" Sakura Haruno ignored whatever was happening between Sasuke and Kitazawa.

Eyes sparkling with hearts, she dashed forward.

"…"

Sasuke grew even colder, wordlessly returning to his seat.

"Women really are scary," Shikamaru sighed.

"Ahem." Chōji Akimichi elbowed him.

Realizing too late, Shikamaru stiffly turned toward Ino Yamanaka.

"Am I scary?" Ino, hands on hips, blew aside her golden bangs, looking furious.

"I'll treat you to yakiniku tonight," Shikamaru blurted.

"What about me?" Chōji perked up at the word yakiniku.

"You too," Shikamaru said, pained.

Everyone in the Akimichi clan had legendary appetites—half his savings would vanish tonight.

Ino gave a small huff, glanced at Sakura, and simply sat down to Kitazawa's left.

"If Kitazawa‑sensei were our age, he might steal Sasuke's spotlight," Shikamaru remarked, seeing Hinata and Ino flanking him.

"Heh‑heh, grilled meat," Chōji was already imagining dinner.

"No beef tonight," Shikamaru warned.

Beef was the most expensive; skipping it would save a bundle.

"No beef? Okay…" Chōji said, disappointed.

The bell rang.

Kitazawa ended the lesson right on time and left with his lesson plan.

Hinata hesitated a few seconds, then quietly slipped out after him.

Kitazawa stopped at the office door.

Turning around, he spotted Hinata sneaking behind him.

"Why are you skulking like a thief?" he teased.

Hinata lowered her head, embarrassed.

"Come in," Kitazawa said, opening the door and stepping inside.

Hinata let out a silent sigh of relief.

"Do you usually preview your lessons?" Kitazawa asked, setting down his materials.

"Yes," Hinata replied. "I went over today's material last night."

"Good." Kitazawa smiled. "In that case, we're skipping class together."

"Eh?" Hinata looked up instinctively.

A teacher skipping class with her? She must be under a genjutsu.

"This is called effective time management," Kitazawa said solemnly. "You've already mastered the textbook content—no need to sit through the lesson."

"B‑But…"

Hinata was at a loss.

Skipping class ran completely counter to her upbringing. She didn't know what to do.

"No buts," Kitazawa said lightly. "It's only cutting class."

It was part of the plan.

A person's character is largely shaped by the environment.

Hinata had grown up amid the Hyūga clan's countless rules; that's why she was as she was.

To change her nature, he first had to break those inner rules.

"I… okay," Hinata murmured, mesmerized by his smile, and nodded.

"Let's go," Kitazawa said, patting her head.

He led her to a section of the school's perimeter wall.

"There are guards at the main gate," he explained. "We'll climb over."

"Huh?" Hinata was bewildered.

With a leap, Kitazawa landed atop the wall.

Saying nothing, he beckoned to her.

Hinata's mind went blank; her heart pounded.

Never had she imagined she would skip school on the third day and scale the wall.

Yet, for some reason, she felt an unprecedented thrill.

Biting her soft lip, she hesitated a few seconds, then jumped.

Kitazawa caught her wrist and steadied her.

Together they leapt down the other side, clearing the wall.

Hinata pressed a hand to her chest, her face rosy red.
