Passion (BL Novel)

vol. 1 chapter 22 - Regrow (11)

His uncle waved his hand as if telling him to do so. He took a deep breath, drinking the green tea in his teacup.
He never showed any signs of fatigue, but since he was not an iron man, it was impossible for him not to be tired at a time like this. However, when his uncle met Jeong Tae-ui’s gaze, who was staring blankly at him, he tilted his head slightly with an expression no different from usual.
“You must be very tired these days. You don’t even have time to read books. And this is a book you really wanted to read.”

Jeong Tae-ui said, lightly tapping his palm with the spine of the new book he had taken out. His uncle smiled and shrugged.
“That’s right. Originally, I thought it would arrive by ship around the next weekend, which would roughly coincide with the end of the joint training, so I thought I would be able to read it right away.” But you came much earlier than I thought, my uncle muttered. Jeong Tae-ui nodded in understanding, thinking, “Oh, that’s why.”
“I see. You asked me to send it by ship so that you could receive the book after the joint training was over? Since it was going to come anyway, you could have just received it directly from Illei, so I wondered why you sent it by mail.”

My uncle’s hand, which was bringing the teacup to his lips, stopped for a moment. My uncle stopped the teacup near his lips and looked at Jeong Tae-ui for a moment before slowly smiling. His face showed that he now understood why he had come to see him. He took a sip of tea and put the teacup back down.
“That guy said it with his own mouth? Well… It was so unconventional to tell someone your name to someone you had just met. I guess that guy really likes you.”
I don’t think that’s right… … . If he had liked me, I would have been anxious and thought I would only walk around in the shadows.

Jeong Tae-ui muttered to himself, but decided not to say anything because it was ridiculous to insist that “he doesn’t like me.”
Besides, even if he did like me, it wouldn’t make a difference. When a man likes someone, it didn’t mean the same thing as when people usually like someone. When a man likes someone, he sees them as an interesting person. It was far from the general meaning of seeing them as an object of affection or cherishing them.
That’s the kind of person he is. And his uncle couldn’t have not known that.

Thinking about it made his mouth taste bitter. In the end, it didn’t matter who he was, whether he was an arms dealer living somewhere in Germany or a crazy brawler with enemies in the European branch. Jeong Chae-ui sat on the bed, licked her lips, and asked timidly.
“I have no intention of asking about other people’s business, Uncle. Since I have to take care of my own life for half a year, I get anxious if I feel even the slightest strangeness.”
“I guess so. So?”
“What’s your relationship with that crazy guy?”

Jung Tae-ui’s question was concise. It was obvious who he was referring to. However, his uncle didn’t say anything for a moment and just looked at Jung Tae-ui with a subtle smile. His face seemed lost in thought.
“Well… I guess I’ll call him a book buddy.”
When his uncle slowly opened his mouth, Jung Tae-ui frowned slightly. Then he looked at his uncle silently and shrugged his shoulders. If he didn’t want to talk, there was no need to force him to do so.

“Yes. Well, I’ll just take care of my own life.”
“I know his older brother. To be exact.”
His uncle continued. Jung Tae-ui closed his mouth again. His uncle spoke calmly, his face showing no sign of lying. When their eyes met, his uncle’s face smiled slightly, letting us know that what he said was the complete truth. However, he didn’t reveal everything. “……. Yeah. I don’t know why that guy is stuck at the UNHRDO branch, but you never know what happens to people.”
No, should I say that I don’t know why the guy at the UNHRDO branch has a family history like that?

Jeong Tae-ui shrugged his shoulders. In fact, even if his uncle had told him in advance, there’s no way anything would have changed. It might have just increased his vague preconceptions. Or he might have made a ridiculous mistake and thought of that guy named Regrow as Ilei, whom he saw on the screen.
Jeong Tae-ui scratched his head.
“Okay. I’ll go now. Well…… I don’t think I’ll have much time to read the book, so by the time I finish reading this, the joint training will have been over a long time ago.”

“Um……. Okay. I haven’t read it yet, so don’t give it to me too late.”
“I told you to take your time.”
“I never said anything about the book. I just told you to read it first if you wanted to.”
What is that? He said he had many other books to read, and while grumbling, Jeong Tae-ui headed toward the door.

Oh, tomorrow is the precious weekend, but I won’t be able to rest and it’ll be training again. He said it was extreme training, but what will it be like this time? He sighed and opened the door and was about to leave when his uncle suddenly spoke from behind him.
“Taei-ya.”
“Huh?”

Jeong Tae-ui turned around while holding the doorknob. His uncle was looking at Jeong Tae-ui with a subtle expression. It wasn’t the face of an instructor, but the face of a pure ‘uncle.’
“It doesn’t matter what that guy does. If you thought of Illei and Regrow separately, you were mistaken about Illei, not Regrow.”
Jeong Tae-ui looked at his uncle in silence. What he wanted to say was clear. He was saying that the appearance of Regrow right in front of him was closer to the truth than Illei, the person he would occasionally talk to over the phone.

After a brief pause, Jeong Tae-ui shook his head with a sly smile.
“No way, uncle. I didn’t know much about Illei.”
He added that he was already unpredictable when he showed his hands, and spread out both of his hands. Then his uncle laughed softly.

“Okay, then let’s go. Don’t let people catch you.”
“Hmm---Isn’t it impossible not to get caught here? There are recording cameras everywhere.”
“……. Right. That’s what happened. You’ll have to copy about ten more volumes of the disciplinary regulations later.”

Jeong Tae-ui’s face suddenly grimaced. His uncle said with a pitiful look, “Why did you get caught on the recording camera? Be careful in the future,” but it was already too late.
Jeong Tae-ui didn’t know a thing about Regrow. All I know is that he is extremely dangerous and that I should not get close to him. However, that does not mean that I know anything about Ilay. I have only called him a few times. After talking to someone a few times, I can say that I am a little better at figuring out what kind of person they are than others, but I cannot define someone based on a few conversations without even seeing their face.
However, like most people who have had a few conversations with strangers, Jeong Tae-ui had some impression of Ilay. It was a vague image of a person who could be like this. They were somewhat understandable, and when they were talking, their hearts would sometimes feel heavy, but they would also be cheerful, and sometimes they would feel a chill like cold water.

Now that I think about it, some of that seems to fit. How much did he know about those two?
Jeong Tae-ui rubbed the back of his neck as he walked down the hallway, not caring whether the recording camera would record more or not. Tsk, he licked his lips bitterly.
“Damn. This is a scam, a scam. How can such a pretty hand be attached to such a guy’s wrist?”

It was a beautiful hand that naturally stole his gaze. Even when he saw his bare hand without his gloves on the beach, the feeling didn’t change. No, it was incomparably pretty compared to when it moved on the screen.
But Jeong Tae-ui knew. He could swing that fist at Jeong Tae-ui calmly. The fact that he would cut Jeong Tae-ui’s leash whenever he felt like it didn’t change either.
Didn’t you feel it during the last call? Even if they talked tens, hundreds of times, that man wouldn’t think of him as anything more or less than a pure stranger.

Yes, when you think about it, I’m sure Ilay and Regrow were the same person.
“It’s really a scam… Even if you say it doesn’t suit me, should I just ask him to cut that hand off and put it on my hand? It’s such a beautiful hand that it would be a shame for him.”
But when you think about that clean and neat, white face, it was an appearance that was worthy of the owner of that hand. After all, the problem is not the hand or the face, but the personality, the personality.

Jung Tae-ui suddenly slowed down his pace. It was because he remembered what happened this morning.
That man died in the morning. The man who had aimed at Ilay the night before, the man who had held the crossbow.
Ilay had told Jung Tae-ui that he would take care of it after he returned to Europe. And he did not disobey his word. Until the man came at him again.

It was morning when we returned to the branch building after finishing the march. After finishing our meal, we had to go straight to the morning work without even being able to rest. People grumbled and cursed as they carried their luggage and entered the building.
Jung Tae-ui grumbled, “You’re really working people,” and started to pick up the luggage that he had put down on the floor. Then, suddenly, Jung Tae-ui saw someone and muttered, “Huh?” Among the rough and tumble men of the European branch, a young man standing rather diminutively—actually, not much different from the average man—came into view. Jung Tae-ui looked at him wondering why he looked so familiar, and soon realized it.
It was the man I saw last night. Not properly, but I saw him tangled with Illei. It was a side view, and the jawline looked familiar, so I looked at him again, and it was indeed that young man.

Jung Tae-ui felt awkward and coughed in vain. It wasn’t that I had made eye contact with the young man, and it wasn’t that I had faced such an embarrassing sight yesterday, but it was still awkward.
I see. That’s what Illei likes. A relatively pretty and delicate Seon-ui with a smaller body than average.
Jung Tae-ui became depressed. It was because his gaze looking at Shin-ru came to mind again. He should be careful, but he didn’t know what to do even if he said he was careful.

He couldn't fold Shinru up small and put it in his pocket, and on top of that, if Shinru said he would go, he would have no choice but to just stare at him.
That man, Il-Lei, was definitely an overwhelming man who made his life feel threatened, but on the other hand, he had an instinctive charm that was just as vivid and intense. Didn't you feel it last night?
Jung Tae-ui suddenly felt a pang in his chest. And he became even more depressed. When he thought about whether he could possibly fight Shinru if that man really approached him, he couldn't feel refreshed.

That was when Jung Tae-ui was agonizing in such gloomy agony.
Everyone was watching. The man with his head wrapped in a blood-dried bandage rushed toward Il-Lei. The sharp blade that was thrust straight into his side approached him in an instant.
Jung Tae-ui was standing a few steps away from Il-Lei, lifting his luggage and lost in thought. Then he saw.
The blade, which was about a span long, was sharp enough to cut human flesh and bones. The moment the blade was about to touch Illei's side,

Illei looked back. He gave the man a fleeting glance and then looked at Jeong Tae-ui. It was a very brief moment. It was so brief that you couldn't even tell if their eyes met or not, and he smiled slightly.
You see, it's not my will to go against what I said, it's something I can't help.
That smile was saying that. And Illei cut the reckless and foolish man who probably rushed in with a sense of despair. Without hesitation, he slashed at his neck with the knife that the man had come up with.

Blood gushed out like a fountain from the deep wound that cut half of his neck. Covering himself in all that blood, Illei threw the knife on the floor as if throwing it away. And he wiped the blood that had spilled over his eyelids with the back of his hand. Only the corners of his eyes were white on his blood-stained face.
Jeong Tae-ui froze in place and stared blankly at the scene. It had happened less than a few meters away. A drop or two of blood splashed onto Jeong Tae-ui’s cheek and collar.
No one there opened their mouths. They just looked at the man who was slowly falling down, spewing blood, and Illei, who was standing in front of him expressionlessly and looking down at him.

Illei lifted his gaze that had been looking down at him. Their eyes met again in a flash. Jeong Tae-ui looked at the man who had already become a corpse and muttered softly.
‘Another act of ‘self-defense.’
He wasn’t the type of man who couldn’t understand the sarcasm hidden in those words, but Illei must have heard the muttering, but he just raised the corners of his mouth as if he was smiling faintly.

Jeong Tae-ui wiped the blood off his cheek with his thumb and walked on.
Not long after Jeong Tae-ui entered the building after passing Illei, the instructor came running, and the instructor, who looked troubled and embarrassed, gave Illei a stern warning.
I can’t hold you responsible according to the rules, but if this keeps happening, I can’t overlook it. If this happens again, I’ll take action. It was a warning that even Jeong Tae-ui, let alone Illei, wouldn’t even snort at.

Jeong Tae-ui rubbed his arm, which was starting to feel like a shiver. Even though it was a building with perfect air conditioning and heating, he felt uncomfortable and his spine went cold as he recalled that morning scene.
That’s Illei and at the same time, Ligrou. A man who doesn’t even blink an eye in that situation and is no different from usual. That’s exactly what Jeong Tae-ui finds most difficult to endure.
“You actually came here because you could kill people without being punished, right, that guy?” Jung Tae-yi muttered to himself in a sulk. He didn’t want to think that way, but if he was the owner of a weird trait like someone who really enjoyed killing people from the beginning, then…

“Who is it, Tae-hyung?”
Jung Tae-ui, who was leaning against the wall and blankly staring at his feet, suddenly raised his head at the sound of a voice. Shin-ru was standing a few steps ahead of him, quietly looking at him. When their eyes met, his brightly smiling face was as sweet as cotton candy today as ever.
“Oh, Shin-ru. How long have you been there?”

“Your hands are so beautiful that it would be a shame for that guy……. Whose hands are so pretty?”
Shin-ru asked, tilting his head. Jung Tae-ui quickly shook his hand at the subtle question.
“No, no. There’s someone you don’t need to worry about. Someone who doesn’t have anything good to know.”

“Um…….”
Shin-ru looked at Jung Tae-ui absentmindedly, but soon smiled brightly and nodded.
“Yes. I don’t know what it is, but don’t worry too much about it. It seems like your face has gotten worse in the past few days. …… Are you on your way back from Instructor Jeong? It wouldn’t be good if you get caught.”

Shin-ru said worriedly. The floor they were standing on right now was originally a place where Jeong Tae-ui shouldn’t be. However, Jeong Tae-ui, who had already prepared to copy ten volumes of the disciplinary regulations, had nothing to fear anymore. He also thought that since he was already caught in the records, it would be the same whether he was caught once or ten times.
Jeong Tae-ui quietly looked down at Shin-ru. A smile naturally appeared on his lips just by looking at him.
He was a handsome and lovable young man no matter when he saw him. Just looking at his pure and clean appearance made his heart sink. And that sweet, melting smile.

“Shin-ru.”
“Me?”
“……. Just.”

Jeong Tae-ui called his name and smiled in vain. Shin-ru tilted his head with a strange expression, but soon showed his lovely smile. Seeing that smile, Jeong-tae's heart sank. This joy that he had never felt before, maybe this was the joy of love that people talked about.
He didn't know if he was really in love, but since he liked him and he knew his feelings and showed his affection, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to call it love. Come to think of it, they kissed, even if it was just on the cheek, Jeong-tae thought to himself and smiled happily.
"Where are you going?"

"Ah. I'm on my way back to my room. I just finished work. I finished a little late today because I had a lot of work to do."
"I see. …… Okay, then go and rest. Rest, and I'll see you next time."
Jeong-tae patted Shin-ru's shoulder, hiding his regretful expression. Shin-ru also seemed regretful and remained silent for a moment before saying.

"Yes, then take care of yourself. Don't forget to go play together after training."
The slightly playful tone of voice made Jung Tae-ui's heart ache once again. Is this really the joy of love?
"Yeah. Then later……"
Jung Tae-ui, who was trying to suppress his laughter that was slowly rising, muttered, rubbing his mouth with his hand, then closed his mouth the next moment. The laughter disappeared from his expression in an instant.

It was because he saw a man coming out of the stairs in front of Jung Tae-ui and behind Shin-ru.
Illai Regrow.
Shin-ru looked back with a puzzled expression, perhaps realizing that Jung Tae-ui's expression had instantly hardened. Illai, who had turned around on the stairs and started walking in this direction, also noticed their presence, and stopped looking at Jung Tae-ui's face before turning around and looking at Shin-ru.

"……."
A subtle silence flowed. Illai looked at Shin-ru. Shin-ru also looked at Illai. Jeong Tae-ui looked back and forth between the two men anxiously.
Whenever he thought of Shin-ru in front of that man, Jeong Tae-ui felt a faint sense of anxiety. It was an instinctive anxiety that made him anxious that something precious might be taken away. Just like now.

“……Tae-i hyung. Then I’ll go now. Be careful on the way back,”
Breaking the short, heavy silence, Shin-ru spoke quietly. He couldn’t see Shin-ru’s expression because he was standing with his back turned to Jeong Tae-ui, but there was a faint wariness in his voice. Jeong Tae-ui felt relieved by that voice. At least at this moment, Shin-ru didn’t have feelings of favor or curiosity for that man. He was guarding against that man with a defensive mind.
Even though Shin-ru was wary or not, that monstrous man would have no qualms about taking what he liked by force, Jeong Tae-ui felt a little bit of relief in Shin-ru’s half. That man’s menacing charm might have even the slightest effect on Shin-ru, and that thought was buried deep in his heart.

“Yeah. Then let’s meet again later.”
“Yes. I’ll contact you.”
Shin-ru smiled back at Jeong-tae-ui. It was a slightly stiff, but still lovely smile. Thinking that Il-lei was also watching this smile from there made him feel uneasy, but Jeong-tae-ui stood there leaning against that smile and watched them as if he was watching them. There was a hint of amusement in his eyes.

Shin-ru greeted Jeong-tae-ui and turned around to walk toward his room. Il-lei was standing there on the way. His gait became stiffer as he got closer to him. Like a young animal that was frightened and stood with its fur on its head in front of a wild beast.
One step, another. The distance between Shin-ru and Il-lei gradually became closer. Il-lei was leaning against the door with his arms crossed, silently smiling as he looked at him. At some point, Jung Tae-ui's heart suddenly warmed up.
"Shin---."

Just as Jung Tae-ui opened his mouth.
Shin-ru, who was a few steps away from Illei, heard the call and turned to Jung Tae-ui. At the same time, Illei straightened up and reached out his arm to grab Shin-ru's waist.
Without giving him time to dodge, Illei hugged Shin-ru's waist and pulled him in, leaning Shin-ru against the wall and pressing his body against it. Illei's long fingers grabbed Shin-ru's chin and lifted it up. Then, he bit his lips as if he was going to devour him. Illei's thick tongue dug into Shin-ru's open mouth. Shin-ru's eyes widened.

"Illei! Stop it!"
Jung Tae-ui shouted in anger. Then, he ran towards them.
Meanwhile, Illei, as if he hadn’t heard Jeong-tae’s words, lowered one hand and grabbed Shin-ru’s groin without hesitation. A short moan escaped Shin-ru’s mouth. Illei’s large hand grabbed Shin-ru’s groin and slowly and roughly rubbed and kneaded it. The hand that dug between his legs and clung to his buttocks swept up the path from his crotch. Over a layer of clothing, the hand that was over Shin-ru’s genitals was extremely obscene and dark. “Illei!!”
Jeong Tae-ui grabbed his shoulder and pulled him hard. As if he had planned to do so from the beginning, he grabbed Illei’s collar and slammed him against the wall as he was about to fall away.

“Don’t do that! Don’t touch me!!”
Jeong Tae-ui opened his eyes wide and screamed. His mind felt like it was completely blackened. The moment Illei grabbed Shin-ru and bit his lips, the moment he put his hand between Shin-ru’s legs, his breath caught in his throat.
Illei looked down at Jeong Tae-ui as if it was funny, but soon moved his gaze to Shin-ru. Jeong Tae-ui felt upset at his attitude as if he didn’t care about someone like him, and tightened his grip on his collar.

“Illei……!!”
“Hyung……! I’m fine. Don’t do that.”
However, the one who stopped Jeong Tae-ui was Shin-ru, who was clutching at his collar as if embarrassed.

Jeong Tae-ui looked at Shin-ru while holding Il-lay's collar. Shin-ru, who still had a look of bewilderment, looked back and forth between Il-lay and Jeong Tae-ui with an unstable gaze. Shin-ru's voice, repeatedly whispering, "Hyung, don't do it, don't fight," sounded extremely anxious and uneasy.
Hearing that voice, Jeong Tae-ui's heart ached once again, and he glared at Il-lay for a moment before slowly releasing his hand. Il-lay chuckled and smoothed his collar.
"It's pretty good. It tastes a lot better than it looks..., huh?"

"...!!"
Jeong Tae-ui was angry again at Il-lay's quietly mumbling words mixed with laughter. However, Shin-ru caught him from the side as he clenched his fist. Jeong Tae-ui looked at Shin-ru with a face that was pale with anger, but Shin-ru shook his head with a face that looked like it would explode at any moment because he was so anxious. Jeong Tae-ui took a step back from Illei, barely catching his ragged breath. Then he spoke to Shin-ru in a low voice.
“Go in. ……It’s okay. Go.”

Shin-ru looked at Jeong-ru as if he was still anxious. Then he looked at Illei--with eyes that were not pretty at all, which was Jeong-tae’s only faint sense of relief. Jeong-tae, who did not want to leave Shin-ru in that place, in the place where Illei’s gaze reached, urged Shin-ru to go again, and Shin-ru nodded as if he had figured out his intentions. Then he slowly walked.
After looking back several times, Jeong-tae did not move until Shin-ru went into the room and closed the door. Just like Illei, who was standing right next to him, did not move.
Even after Shin-ru disappeared from his sight, Jeong-tae continued to look in that direction as if chasing an afterimage, and then slowly turned his gaze to Illei. Illei was staring at the wall across from him with his arms crossed, as if lost in thought. Then, when he felt Jeong Tae-ui’s gaze, he lowered his eyes and met his gaze.

Jeong Tae-ui slowly released the fist he had been clenching tightly, and with a sigh, the anger that had flared up in an instant slowly leaked out. He rarely got angry to begin with, and he was not the type to sustain such feelings for long.
Jeong Tae-ui took a step back, feeling a little sorry for himself. He asked unpleasantly and gloomily.
“What are you going to do? ……Do you want that child?”

Then, a glimmer of interest appeared above Illei’s eyes. That interest resembled desire.
“It’s not yours yet, is it?”
“I guess so. I think Shin-ru likes me too.”

When Jeong Tae-ui spoke, Illei laughed softly. It was a laugh that seemed to have lost some of its energy.
“Hey, Tae. You’re thinking wrong again. I’m not talking about feelings like “I like you or not.” You can have those as much as you want. I don’t want them. What I want is a short, intense passion.”
“---So.”

Anxiety, nervousness, and discomfort beyond them spread in his chest.
Jeong Tae-ui looked straight at Il-lay. He stared at Jeong Tae-ui with those cold, deep black eyes that made it impossible to know what he was thinking.
He was a man who would get what he wanted no matter what. Giving up or giving up on something he wanted was completely out of character for this man. That’s why Jeong Tae-ui couldn’t back down any further. If he was going to scratch and tear down Shin-ru, the things he cherished, he couldn’t just stand by and watch. No matter what. Even if his strength was woefully inadequate.

Suddenly, Il-lay laughed as if he was sighing. The way he shook his head vigorously seemed like he had both hands up.
“Okay, fine. Anyway, I don’t want to fight you right now. Even if we do, now is not the time. So I’ll make one concession. You take one step back.”
Jung Tae-yi frowned slightly at Illei’s soft and subtle words. He had no idea what this man, who was so blatant about his desire for Shinru, would say.
He looked at Illei and clicked his tongue quietly.

Damn. Now he seemed to understand exactly what his uncle had said. Regardless of whether it was good or bad, it was best to just stay out of sight and not get involved,
Jung Tae-yi said bitterly.
“Let’s hear that concession first. I don’t know if I have the right choice.”

Illei laughed at Jung Tae-yi’s words mixed with grumbling complaints. And he spoke as if he was making some kind of great concession.
“That guy is the one you have in mind? He looks so delicious and tempting to me. My rule is to get what I want, but as I said, I have no intention of fighting you right now. So---don’t interfere with whatever I do to him. In return, I won’t use brute force to crush him.”
“What?”

“Don’t you understand? Since he’s not completely yours yet, I’m telling you not to care at all whether I approach him, seduce him, or drag him into bed. In return, I won’t use threats or any other coercive means.”
Jeong Tae-ui stared blankly at Illei for a moment, speechless. It felt like he’d been lightly hit in the back of the head.
“No…, that’s….”

“If we’re not even dating properly, then you have no right to say anything to me.”
Jeong Tae-ui shut his mouth.
He was right. In fact, Jeong Tae-ui could not define what kind of relationship he had with Shin-ru. If I had to say, I would say that I was trying to lure him out and he was accepting my efforts. I was not in a position to ask Shin-ru not to come near me.

However, even so, I could not readily respond with, “Then do that.” In front of Jeong Tae-ui, who was speechless, Illei turned around as if he had finished what he wanted to say.
“Illei!”
Jeong Tae-ui called out to him half-astonished as he was about to turn around. Illei raised his eyebrows slightly and turned his head. Jeong Tae-ui glared at him with a heavy heart for a moment and then said gloomily.

“If you use a forced method, ……I will never stay still.”
Then Illei laughed cheerfully. He left only a short answer that could be interpreted in either way, “Of course.” and walked away.
Jeong Tae-ui, who had been standing there blankly until he turned the corner and was out of sight, slumped against the wall as soon as he disappeared from sight. It felt like decades of fatigue had suddenly poured out.

Things had gone from bad to worse. He couldn’t refuse his offer anyway—there was no guarantee that he wouldn’t come out completely stern if he had resisted until the very end—and he had no reason to refuse, but he had never wanted this situation to happen.
“I’m absolutely not going to stay still…. Only someone with the strength to do that would be able to say something.”
Jeong Tae-ui groaned, muttering self-deprecatingly.

Since coming here, not only had his life been going through rough times, but he had been doing all sorts of stupid things by {N•o•v•e•l•i•g•h•t} himself.
