Chapter 17: Domain Levels and a quest.
I spend the remaining time until the school started thinking about what domain I wanted to max out. The domains I had were:
1. Fall/Autumn
2. Halloween
3. Samhain
4. Nightmares
5. Dreams
6. Death
7. Deep Sea
But I wanted to know more about it before I decided. So I asked the system if the level ups of the domains was like it was for the skills. Its answer?
[Host, the domains are devided into 10 Levels. To max them out you have to complete the levels. Purely farming Exp will not work for it as the cost of this would be immeasurable.]
Can you tell me how to level them up?
[Yes host. Here are the levels you need to achieve.]
Level 1: Connect - You need to connect to your domain.
Level 2: Incursion - Master Incursions
Level 3: Affinities - Uncover and master your affinities.
Level 4: Domain Magic - Master the magic of your domain.
Level 5: Spirit Form - Achieve a Form befitting your domain.
Level 6: Pathfinder - Find ways and passages to other realms.
Level 7: Contract - Take entities in as the citizens of your domain.
Level 8: Rule Overwrite - Overcome/force the manifestation of your domain in anothers.
Level 9: Create Spirit - Make new spirits for your domain.
Level 10: Create Realm - Create a realm deeply connected to and representing your domain.
[Now that you know host, which domain will you choose first?]
I would like to go with Autumn for the time being. What level am I on right now?
[Host has already reached Level 3. You can cause incursions when ever you want but are limited to the time of Autumn to use it at its full capacity. Meanwhile you have yet to connect and train the remaining affinities of: Rot, Necromancy and Sleep.]
I wasted no time. I already knew how to connect them. The mastery of these affinities was achieved when you manifested it in reality and controlled into the outcome you wanted it to be.
I started to meditate for what felt like just a few minutes but the result showed immediately.
The wind outside picked up and the trees started to sway in it. Leaves fell to the ground but most stayed on the trees, for now.
And then I realized. Today, on the 1rst of October, I had brought in the first day of Autumn.
Energy filled my being slowly, the snakes had disappeared and I could feel small leafes hidden in my hair.
Suddenly the affinities I tried to connect with manifested.
The Rot appeared in my hands and I was suddenly aware that anything I touched would now rot.
The Necromancy filled my shadows and the ones in the room. Skeleton hands rose, dead, grey eyes looked from the shadows and the howls of grim echoed through the room.
The Sleep, to my luck, appeared as white sand that gathered around Grover, lulling him back to sleep when he stired from the sudden changes and the magically charged air.
I got up carefully, trying not to touch the floor or myself because of the rot.
I took time to get the affinities and the domain under control.
I molded the rot into something that would slowly consume the leafes of the trees, the insects dying from the suddenly cold winds.
I conversed with the necromancy to take in the souls of the strays, the homeless and the abandoned pets, to bind them to me so that they had time to reach the afterlife or to allow them to stay with me.
A side effect of that was however, that my shadows and those of the trees, moved and shook on their own.
The sleep was the easiest and yet still the hardest to control. But I managed soon. I imbued the beds and the covers with it. Making the sleep appear longer and more restful without trapping people inside their sleep.
I stood up from the floor. Even without having to see the system notification I knew I had reached Level 4, but I couldn't help but wonder why this seemed so easy.
[As host has been born a Spirit, regardless of the hybrid-status, Host has an easier time connecting and mastering your domains. This advantage will cease once you have passed Level 5 as that Level is where most spirits except the most powerful ones, stop growing in strength.]
So how long will it take for me to master the Domain Magic? If it follows the same as the affinities I should be done quickly then.
[Domain Magics are simple yet hard to explain. They are intricately connected to each other but can have various effects depending on the intent behind the use. Host will need time to learn of them, but it should not take longer than a week of training to learn them as they are similar to the affinities.]
So can I start learning the magic now? As I asked that question, Grovers alarm clock rung and I stopped thinking about them for a bit.
I spent the day hiding most of my excitement but Grover seemed to notice it.
"What's up Percy? Why are you so excited?" he asked and of course I couldn't answer truthfully so I just said:"Halloween is in 30 days. I can't wait to dress up in a costume."
And only then I realized that three of my domains actively overlapped on the same day. Those being Autumn, Halloween and Samhain.
I filed that information for later as I wanted to reach max level in one domain before I began with a second one.
During the day I was constantly being bombarded with information regarding the domain magic and my grimoires adapted and absorbed that information as well.
Now what could I do with my magic?
The magic was closely interconnect with the affinities. If I were to pick the magic of rot for example, I could control the stages of rot and even reverse it. I could make it spread through the ground and infect a large area including anyone standing on the ground. Another form would be to infuse rot into gusts of wind. You know, things like that.
There were a few more niche spells and such that I could use but I haven't had the time to test any of that.
What was now important was the mission that had appeared before me, or missions if we want to be accurate.

There are spirits running around causing chaos and harming children. Stop them.

Many children have been kidnapped in the time of Fall by an unknown organization. Rescue the children: 0/16

The children you have rescued are part of the future. Train them for the roles they have to play.
