Chapter 37: Boss fight?
Oh shit! Oh shit! Oh Shit!
I screamed as I ran through the streets. And here, right behind me was that Behemoth of a zombie.
How did this happen, you ask?
Well let's start from the beginning.
The plan went of without a hitch, the mist rolled in, carrying the toxin, the zombies were paralyzed and the tanks were weakened.
I fired the bow, triggered a chain reaction that began taking out large chunks of the zombies, even some of their images and sprinters.
I sent in the hounds and they ripped and stomped through them.
And then I used the sinners magic to make the shadow monsters. We're they effective? Hell yeah.
They took different forms, but most still followed either the shape of demonic entities, like the Hellfin Titans, or whales (Don't know where those came from but sure, I'll take it.) Of course there were many that took the forms of the demons I had killed and then there were those that just took the forms of beings connected to my domains, such as church Grim. There were a few kelpies, horses that lure people to ride on their backs, only to drown and eat them.
You get the idea.
In short, the zombie army was annihilated within minutes.
And of course the ritual I had set up worked as well. Within minutes I had a small budging army of weird undead Chimera. Some resembled the beastmen, humanoid with rotten animal heads. Some were more grotesque, being four-legged, with no human features, covered in thick fur, scales or just straight up bone-plating with their intestines hanging out of their stomach.
Others were more like wyvern, having two hind legs with their "arms" having been replaced by wings with big claws on the middle joint. Those had spikes running along their back and horns on their heads.
Some followed the multi-headed route. They either had several animal heads, or at most three human ones. Again with fur, scales, bone-plating or just rotting skin.
They were literal nightmare fuel. I would like to think they would make Gods wet their beds. And they were fucking effective in combat, ripping, tearing and gasing zombies left and right.
And those were just the standart zombies, the specialized ones had turned out interesting and sickening as well.
Most of the tanks had either taken on an even bigger form with several meaty arms or become hulking beast comparable or even bigger than the hounds of horror. There were three wolves among the second group. They had dead, grey eyes, several patches of skin and flesh missing on their flanks, big ass teeth and I belive one of them had three tails. Then there was this hulking beast of a bear and believe me if I say this, but this bear looked like he ate elephants as snacks and blue whales as the regular main dish. That bear was tall as fuck and likely a Chimera made out of several tank zombies.
The sprinters were a bit stranger. Many of them had not made an appearance as a Chimera, which leads me to believe that many of them had been used in the creation of other Chimeras. But those that did make an appearance were mostly human with a few undead bestmen among them. The things that all of them had together, were the metal plating covering their eyes, not giving them any way to see. The plating was in the form of a horizontal V with the face inside of it and the pointed end pointing away from their covered faces. Their limbs were long and had sharp and long claws on their arms, while their feet were a bit different, as they mostly stood at their foot pads with their heels raised of the ground. Some of them had animal parts either replacing their legs or their heads and ears. They were in a crouched position, almost ready to pounce and pounce they did. Under their sharp claws and enhanced speeds more and more zombies fell.
The mages were among the most changed forms. Most of them took the form of different species closely connected to magic. They had similarities with the sprinters, in that they had their faces covered by metal plates and the same type of limbs. Some even had the same animal parts as the sprinters. The differences were that, while the sprinters had a form of bone plating as armor, the mages had scales on their arms, hardened bones, in some cases those had obviously been replaced with metal, since some had visible spikes on their backs and dragon like horns or heads. (Those probably came from the material of my form as Rivers Child. Some of the mages had spider legs hidden away to allow for defense even at close quarters. But of course among the specialized Chimera there were some with more grotesque forms as well. There were the missing skin and fur patches, the visible bones and in some cases they had spiked bone armor on them.
In short, these Chimera were probably in Echidnas wet dreams. And not the good kind. But back from that thought pattern and let's return to the combat portion.
To my luck the bulging zombie in the centre had appeared to be affected by the toxin, so it was forced to stand there and watch as I destroyed its kind.
But then, the paralyzed zombie began to move as the venom slowly stopped working. At first the zombie was clumsy but with every passing second it's movement became faster, more precise and savage.
I ordered the hounds back, even the Chimeras, as they were now essentially my own children. Why did I do it this way again?
Instead of letting them fight that zombie, even though they had managed to cause some damage to it, I was going to kill it myself.
As I approached it, I began clapping my hands and for those that know, that meant I was creating traps with my alchemist class. With every step I made a path of what was essentially mines.
Once I had reached the zombie, it was being unusually still unlike what I had expected since it had obviously gotten rid of the toxin, I used my skill: forge to throw a wall of fire at it.
An interesting thing about the skills I had up until now. The title of Fatger/Mother of Monsters, Wardrobe and Forge had an interesting synergy. While Forge recorded any data around me that could be used to make new skills, the skill wardrobe and Father of Monsters had made it so that I could change into the different Chimera I had just created, but even bigger and stronger than those.
The zombie was chared by the fire, but not consumed as I had expected it to be. Now, only after being attecked by me, did it finally react.
I jumped back as it swung it's arm, either trying to catch and grab me or to swat me away like a fly.
I continued to jump backwards as the zombie followed and stepped on several of my mines. The first thing that went flying was its left leg. Then followed by the right one with something that looked suspiciously like its entire hip.
Now properly delegged, it began crawling towards me, losing both of its arms after triggering several more mines in quick succession.
And now, right before me was a limbless zombie meatsack with no ability to move. It just lay there, on the ground and stared at me like it wanted to kill me. Which was obvious, since everything in this dungeon wanted to do exactly that.
I used forge again, but this time I had something nice in mind, as I brought out several ingots of a new metal I had made with alchemy, mixing Deep Sea Adamantinium, Uru and crushed Demon Bones (From our favourit, eternally enslaved Sex offender demon, the bones were extracted while he was conscious.).
The i placed one had on the zombies back, as it was laying face down, and the other was pointed in the direction of the metal.
Fire spread out of my hands, first engulfing the zombie, warping and twisting it's flesh and bones, not burning them away but turning them into a form of sentient metal, screaming metal, bofore the fire from my other hand reached out and grabbed the metal ingots I had prepared and mixed them with what remained of the zombie.
Then, before I could take a closer look at what I had just created, something seemed to answer the last screams of the zombie.
And then, as I heard the sound of something big breaking g through a building, I just thought one thing.
Shit I was wrong. This wasn't the boss. That one is!
