Chapter 2: Goblin den
School wasn't set to start for another week, to give the students some time to familiarize themselves with the school grounds. Alexander was showing Percy and Grover to the cafeteria, when he spotted something on the way, a door with a purple skull hologram levitating in front of it. As he was walking closer to it, his hand brushed up next to the skull and a screen appeared.

Alexander declined. He would have to do that later, it would be suspicious if he disappeared right in front of his friends. So, he showed them to the cafeteria. They sat down and ate what was given to them, Pancakes with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles.
"So, what are your families like?" asked Alexander, "What do they do for work?"
"My mom works at a sweets shop and my stepfather", he said that word with venom, "works at the cadillac linen service"
"What about your father?", his father was poseidon… had he any contact with him? Alexander's family received money but he had never met his father personally.
"Lost at sea, my mom says", he looked uncomfortable, like it was a sore subject.
"What about you, Grover?"
"Me? Oh- well, my dad is missing and my mom is dead", he looked quite a bit less uncomfortable with the question than percy did, despite his homelife being bad too, so, he shifted the attention, "what about you, Alex?"
"My mom works as a painter and my dad is somewhere in quebec, I have never met him…"
"Quebec? How did your parents meet?", Percy asked.
"Oh, my mom used to live in Canada but moved to the States later. I'm not sure how they met", how does a normal woman meet a god? They weren't on tinder, were they?
"Do you know french? They speak french in Quebec, right?", Grover asked, munching on his pancake.
"Yeah, I can speak french. Writing and reading is harder, I have dyslexia"
Percy's eyes lit up, "you too? You don't just happen to also have adhd, right?"
"actually, I do", he watched Percy's expression change to one of joy, because he finally found someone like himself, "welcome to yancy, the school of misfits and troublemakers"
Later, Alexander returned to the dungeon door.

He tapped the yes option and, in a flash, he was somewhere else. The stench was overwhelming, sweat and blood and a foul odor like an unwashed animal. Looking around, he found himself in a cave, with glowing mushrooms all over the walls, casting the cave in dim light. He turned around, there was no exit, he was stuck here. Was this really such a good idea? The difficulty said easy, so surely, he wouldn't die, right?

Alexander took a deep breath and walked further into the cave. He failed to notice the goblin hiding in a corner until it pounced him, a crude bronze sword in its hand.
The beast cut him on the leg. It was small, the size of a small child, with green skin and beady, red eyes, wearing nothing but a loin cloth
HP: 95/100
"Fuck, that hurts!", he punched the green beast with all his might. There was a *crunch* as the bones snapped beneath the power of his punch. The goblin wasn't very durable. It disintegrated into a cloud of golden dust, leaving only its sword behind.
Alexander picked up the sword and observed it.
[Crude celestial bronze sword]
An effective, if badly made weapon against monsters, does not harm mortals
Okay, better than nothing, he supposed.
Walking further in, now he saw them before they saw him, two small goblins, feasting on what looked like the corpse of a buck, crude bone and bronze daggers at their sides.
Okay, Alex- deep breaths… let's try out some of your powers!
Alexander closed his eyes and tried imagining ice. After a few seconds, something cold landed on him. As he looked up, he saw a snowing storm cloud over his head, slowly letting snow fall on him. Okay, that was a start but he needed something he could fight with. This time, without closing his eyes, he imagined the snow compressing into a shard of ice. Something in his gut stirred and the snow formed a big shard of ice, as big as his hand. Yes! It was working!
Immediately as he stopped concentrating, the ice fell to the floor.
He looked wearily at the goblins but they didn't seem to have heard anything, so, he tried again. This time, when the shard formed, he willed it to shoot at the goblins. It flew with deadly aim and killed one of the goblins, which then disintegrated, leaving behind only its dagger. The second goblin now noticed him. It screeched and ran up to him. On instinct, he swung the sword, driving it halfway through it, killing the beast. He gathered up the daggers left behind and stored them in his inventory. He didn't have time to rest, as a group of four goblins came running in. He concentrated and a cold gust of wind blew over the light monsters. With terrifying precision and with fluidity as if he had been using a sword all his life, he cut them down. These ones carried weapons too, two daggers, an ax and a whip, all crudely made. He put everything in his inventory and walked farther into the cave. What he saw next made his stomach churn. There was a big goblin, way bigger than the rest, at least the size of Alexander, devouring the corpse of a small, human child. He expected to feel terror or disgust at that sight but no, he felt nothing. Was this gamer's mind at work? He saw a corpse, a small child, no older than ten and he felt nothing… it was frightening how cold hearted he had suddenly become but now wasn't the time to worry about that, the hobgoblin noticed him and roared.
[Fear status effect purged]
The hobgoblin grabbed a big warhammer made of bronze and ran at him. His battle instincts were on high alert, so, he dodged the first strike, which hit the stone floor, cracking the rock but he didn't notice the clawed hand coming for his side. The claws ripped through his gut.
HP: 85/100
"Fuck me!", he hissed, swinging at the hobgoblin, injuring its shoulder before jumping back, just narrowly avoiding another sideways swing from the warhammer. He concentrated as he was backing up and a shard of ice shot at the hobgoblin, then another and another. He was shooting at it whilst backing away. He wanted to lunge backwards to avoid another swing but found himself against the wall. The hammer hit its mark, right in his chest. Blood flew out of his mouth with a dreadful *crunch*.
HP: 35/100
50 HP from just one swing? He couldn't handle another hit. Against the wall, he gathered all the strength he had left in him and created a lance made of ice, which spun, hitting into the hobgoblin's chest. The light left it's eyes and it too turned to dust.

[Quest complete. Random attribute ranked up]
Alexander collapsed to the ground. Looking down, his clothes were unharmed. A videogame character didn't get real injuries, he just lost hp and he was the gamer! In the pile of golden dust was it's warhammer -which he placed in his inventory- and a stone with a rune on it.
"Observe"
[Warpstone: Allows you to exit the dungeon once broken]
He looked around the cave for another few minutes, finding a stash of both dollar bills and golden coins, which observe told him were drachma, the currency of the immortals. Satisfied, he smashed the warpstone and was in front of the door once again, now the holographic picture in front of it was gone.
