Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead

Chapter 944: Might Of A Star

Following dozens exchange of blows, Sonnenträger landed a direct kick right to the skeleton's abdomen, gold illuminated the emptiness of space for a split second as he channelled a Golden Glow, the incredibly destructive attack was only mitigated by Loimos preemptively erased the struck area and its surroundings, so as to avoid being slammed head-on with the gold, but he was still sent flying backward, his back landing against a nearby, desolate planet that was completely devoid of anything.

With a swift follow-up, the golden one crashed into the undead again, performing another Golden Glow, that eradicated three quarters of the undead's body, so far, only the very first one had been able to do more damage than this, all of the others had only managed to destroy that much at most, the skeleton's reaction speed was simply too swift.

Sonnenträger had never encountered any enemy capable of reacting and doing something about it after being struck by a Golden Glow, having only ever faced opponents whose vile powers and immensity allowed them to resist the gold after being hit, surprisingly, Loimos's festering death was unable to properly resist a Golden Glow, but he made up it by simply preventing it from consuming all of him, only allowing a bit of his physical body and rot to be consumed each time, always safekeeping at least a quarter of it, alongside non-physical things like the soul or mind, which he could somehow detach from himself at will.

This allowed him to easily have them dodge all of the gold.

The hero's attack punched through the undead however, and caused the planet to rupture, exploding into golden fireworks as the corpse swiftly regrew the disintegrated portions of himself, countering a sudden jab to Sonnenträger's temple, the attack not only imbued with empowered Silence, but also accompanied by spikes which were driven in the man's skull and brain, the physical damage was like a small scratch to him, but the aspect of Silence being driven into his brain momentarily shut down everything.

He could not think, he could not see- He simply could not do anything at all for the two seconds, it might seemed like nothing, but just a handful of seconds was plenty of time for beings of their strength, when he came to himself, the gold reacting aggressively as the undead attempted to maintain the effects of silence upon the hero, seemingly acting of its own volition to fight back in the absence of its master.

Sonnenträger was not surprised by this, learning to allow his energy to act by itself if he was unable to act had been something he did early on after developing this unique energy, and it had been of assistance many times as his opponents would inevitably turn to underhanded means in an attempt to bring him down, as they would not stand a chance in a direct confrontation.

He felt himself being damaged however, and as he realised what was happening, Loimos bursted forward, taking both his opponent, and himself directly into what was looming over them both, the two of them landed directly into the swirling mass of plasma.

Indeed, within the two seconds, Loimos had taken Sonnenträger toward a nearby sun, which had been in the background of their confrontation in outer space this entire time, it looked rather mundane in appearance, but a sun was a sun, and both of them began to suffer from the results of daring to move into its mass.

The undead's armour was melting upon his bones every second as it attempted to mend itself back to normal, whilst the golden one was being visibly scorched, his hair a constant mass of flames, gold raging to resist the solar might.

Loimos struck down upon his opponent's face, caving it in, only for Sonnenträger to clench both hands into fists and bring them, at once, onto both sides of the undead's helm and skull, sending molten iron woven from rot everywhere and shattering his skull.

Neither seemed to care for the blows, they were pure shows of physical might, as they had no other choice to completely focus on resisting the sun's incandescence, both of them sinking closer and closer to the sun's core.

The pure undead was demonstrating the advantage of being a master of all, as he harvested the sun's great energy, imbuing it into his strikes, portions of it turning into its dead variation under contact with the skeleton, making his hits even worse for the golden one.

But Sonnenträger did not take it lying down, as though being under pressure improved the might of gold, he managed to grab one of Loimos's punches, tore the undead's arm off and swiftly pushed his opponent closer to the core, taking the short instant of respite that granted him to focus the golden energy intently, then, like comet, slammed into the undead, sending them both right into the heart of this sun.

The heat was making both of the combatants appeared like blurry wraiths, as the strength of their respective regenerative capabilities were pushed to the maximum, portions of their bodies would simply be gone for short instants before popping back out, flashes of gold would erupt every now and then, or portions of the sun's core would be harvested by Loimos to enhance his attacks.

Their fight ruthlessly moving forward no matter the circumstances, Sonnenträger understood well that Loimos had brought the sun into the equation precisely to not only attempt to exhaust part of his reserves of gold, but also to make him focus so much on regenerating, that he would be unable to channel another Golden Glow.

The same was true for Loimos however, albeit seemingly to a lesser degree as the undead could specialise his resistance and regeneration to fit the precise situation, and by using the very sun around themselves as a weapon, he did not have to worry much about offense, as the sun had proven very capable of harming the golden one already.

They continuously clashed under the constant burning for several days worth of time, until they fists clashed for one last time within the sun's core- Sonnenträger's release of gold, and Loimos's harvest of solar energy finally piled up, causing an instability, resulting in the sun's destruction, such a dire event caused the memory to shatter at the same time, sending them both into a new memory.

Both opponents landed upon a flat ground of stone that seemed to span far beyond the horizon, their bodies returning to their normal states for the first time in days, visually, they were the same as ever, but within, the gold and festering death had seen a decrease in quantity.

Rain was loudly pouring down from the heavens, the fight was still far from over.
