Chapter 40: 40. The Rampant Lacusus

Chapter 40

October 11, 784

Backyard of the Fairy Tail Guild.

"Why did you guys call me here? I have work to do." Gadgil asked Jet and Droy, who were standing across from him.

- Work? This is the guy who destroyed the guild talking? - Jet said.

- You could have gone to any other guild and taken missions there! Doesn't your conscience bother you? - Droy said.

- Heh. You guys are just jealous. What's past is past. - the dragon slayer answered with a grin.

- Jet, Droy, don't. I'm against it, really. - Levy's quiet voice was heard, hiding behind a tree behind the two wizards mentioned.

However, the boys did not pay attention to her words, because after the words of the dragon slayer, memories of that day surfaced in them, only increasing the anger that was building up inside.

- You crossed the line.

- You destroyed the guild's reputation.

Jet and Droy became more and more heated, but in response to their words they received only another chuckle.

- You've already had enough of your inconstancy! - Jet, accelerating with magic, rushed into the attack, striking Gadgil straight in the solar plexus.

- Seed! - Droy shouted, scattering plant seeds.

- Plant Transformation! - The recently thrown seeds instantly sprouted into strange vines that began to strike the dragon slayer like whips.

- Wing strike! - Jet added to his friend's attack.

With their attack, they clearly did not cause much harm to Gadgil, only scratches, bruises and torn clothes in a couple of places, although it was obvious that it still hurt and if someone else had been in the place of the dragon slayer, with the way he was dragged along the ground, the victim would probably have had at least fractures.

- Hey... Why aren't you resisting? - Jet asked angrily, looking at the mage who was squatting.

"You must be much stronger," Droy said.

Suddenly, footsteps were heard behind the two wizards.

- What a place you chose, heh, - the newcomer chuckled.

- Laxus? - Droy was surprised.

- So... This guy, that punk who caused chaos in my guild. - the thunderer said menacingly.

- And that old fart let you join us after that?

- And because of this, we are looked down upon! - The closer Laxus got to Gadgil, the angrier he became.

- Damn you!!! - suddenly he hit Gadgil with a rather strong lightning bolt, causing a cry full of pain.

- It's your fault. - And again Makarov's grandson struck with lightning, literally driving the dragon slayer into the ground.

Jet, Droy and Levy were simply horrified by the scene unfolding before them.

- S-stop Laxus! You've gone too far!

"No matter how strong Laxus is, Gadgil should have been able to resist," Jet said.

- So from the very beginning, he just wanted to be recognized as a friend? That's why he didn't fight back? - the trio finally began to understand.

- Why haven't you died?

- It's all your fault that we became a laughing stock! - Lakusus began to yell while beating the lying mage.

- I will kill anyone who goes against Fairy Tail!

"That's enough Laxus!" Jet shouted.

- Shut up! Small things must remain silent! - Laxus threw lightning behind him without looking.

- Levi! - Jet and Droy screamed in panic, realizing where the attack would hit, but something happened that they did not expect.

At the very last moment, when lightning was about to strike the girl, the dragon slayer somehow appeared right in front of her and took the attack on himself.

- Gadjil? - the girl said in surprise, looking at the back of the bleeding magician.

- He protected Levi? - Droy was surprised.

"You…" Jet simply didn't know what to say.

"And yet you've become quite the bastard, Laxus," a voice suddenly rang out in the silence.

- Wendy?! - Levy was the first to react.

- Hi Levi, - I greeted the girl with a smile.

"I hope you're not offended, Gadjil, that I didn't interfere?" I turned to my fellow craftsman.

"I don't care," the steel dragon slayer answered sullenly.

- Oh, come on, don't frown. They should have realized that you're not really bad, at least at this point you've behaved more in keeping with the spirit of our guild than the master's grandson. I'll heal you up a bit and you'll be ready for new achievements in a few moments. - I said cheerfully, walking towards Gadgil.

"What the fuck are you talking about?" Laxus said angrily.

- And you, stand and be quiet, we will talk about the correct attitude towards guildmates. - I suddenly became serious, threateningly said to Makarov Jr. and, putting on a friendly smile, turned to the steel dragon slayer.

"I'm fine as is," Gadgil said sullenly, getting ready to leave, despite the fact that it was difficult for him to even stand.

- You won't go anywhere in such a state! What do you think I should say to Metallicana when we meet if I let you go like this? - he suddenly froze at my words and slowly turned to me. After all, Metallicana is obviously no less important to him than Grandina is to me, I would have pulled her out to meet him, but by pulling her out by force, I can harm her, so I need to artificially create conditions for her to come out on her own.

- Do you know where this hag is? - the guy asked me.

- Yes. But we will discuss this later and in another place, this is not a one-minute conversation.

- Good. - Having completely calmed down, Gadgil approached me for healing.

- To hell with it. - I heard Laxus say that he decided to just leave, making me frown, however, I decided to talk to him first before dealing with him.

- This is Fairy Tail. This is not the guild I want to stay in. Fairy Tail is mine! - Laxus' voice, full of anger, reached me from far away.

"How did the master manage to screw up such an important moment as raising Laxus!" I thought.
