Chapter 41: 41. Much knowledge, much sorrow

Chapter 41

Healing Gadgil, even though I didn't use any advanced spells, took a couple of minutes at most, after which I calmly let him go on his mission.

- Levi, how are you? Aren't you too scared? - I asked, turning to the three guildmates.

- N-no, everything is fine. - the upset girl answered me. However, it wasn't just her who was upset, but her two friends as well.

- Well, why are you so sad?

"Gadgil, we were biased towards him," Jet said, full of remorse.

"But now you know that he's not so bad," I smiled, and then, coming closer to Levi, I whispered in her ear.

- By the way, you look good together.

- What? - the girl asked again, and then, when I had already started to go back to the guild, her face became so red from embarrassment that it seemed as if a little more and she would catch up with Elsa's hair color.

- Hey Levi! What's wrong?

- If she was harassing you, then I won't care who she is and I'll personally go and beat her up.

- Who are you going to beat? Mmm? - I appeared behind Droy.

Hearing my voice, Droy began to sweat furiously, furiously thinking how to get out of this situation and slowly began to turn towards me, as if afraid that a sudden movement would cost him his life.

"I… well…" the guy still couldn't come up with an excuse.

- Ha-ha-ha. Don't worry, I won't beat you today, but I don't want to hear such accusations against me in the future. I haven't done anything that would justify spreading such rumors, okay? - I laughed sharply, letting Droy relax, but I still gave a warning, otherwise, starting from small things, you can end up becoming a rapist in rumors.

- Yes! - the plant mage answered, standing at attention.

- Well, that's good. Bye-bye. - Smiling after saying goodbye, I disappeared from their sight and, like a light breeze, found myself next to my lovers, who had taken a table in the guild.

- Did something important happen? - asked Elsa.

- Well, it's hard to say, a little concerning? Yes. But whether it's important, I'm not sure yet.

"And what made you worried?" Charlie asked curiously.

- If I understood correctly, then Laxus, despite my warning from the Master, still grew up to be a bit of a jerk and, as in the canon, will try to seize power. - I frowned. Still, according to the same anime, it is obvious that Makarov's grandson simply lost his way and then stood up for the guild, and simply became a normal person.

- What are we going to do? Go to the master? - asked Elsa.

- Yes. This is the best option, after all, we are not related to Laxus and it will be better if the Master deals with him.

- Then shall we go now?

- Why not?

So, having decided on the fly what to do, we headed straight to the door of the Guild Master's office.

*knock knock*

- Come in. - We heard Makarov's tired voice and entered the office.

- Did something serious happen? - the Master asked us after closing the door.

- Yes. First, I wanted to ask. Master, do you remember our conversation about the upcoming events? - I asked.

- What events? - the old man was surprised, making us frown.

- Master, if this is a joke, it is not funny, - Elsa said sternly.

- Are you talking about the Fantasia parade?

- Well, essentially yes, - I answered.

- So you finally decided to agree to participate in the beauty contest?! - Makarov exclaimed joyfully.

- No. Master, Laxus' rebellion, Oración Seis, Edolas, Acnologia. Does that mean anything to you?

- What are you getting at? - Makarov frowned, causing us to look at each other with concern.

- Master, remember almost at the very beginning, when Erza and I came to you. First, we told you about the Tower of Heaven, and then in Porlyuska's house, I told you everything I know about the future. - Now I really hoped that Master was just joking. Because otherwise, it would mean that he simply wasn't prepared for Laxus's rebellion, or for Edolas's attack, and most importantly, for the meeting with Acnologia.

- I remember the Tower of Heaven very well, but weren't you immediately placed in a dorm? I don't remember us talking about anything in Polyusica's house. - Dreyar Sr. began to get nervous, realizing that something unpleasant had happened, at the very least.

- Damn it! - I cursed, realizing that my fears were confirmed.

- Master, let me check your mind, it seems someone has changed your memory. - Elsa stepped forward.

- Wait. I may understand your concerns, but our guild has secrets that are passed on only between masters. - Makarov said quickly.

- We know about the fairy heart, Master, and the main reason we're worried is because there's total chaos ahead, and it turns out you weren't prepared for it.

- Do you know? - the old man was taken aback.

- Master, let me check. I need to find out who was able to get into your head and, most importantly, why. - Elsa asked pleadingly.

- Okay. - Makarov said with a heavy sigh and got up from the table and lay down on the couch, knowing how unpleasant and tiring it is when someone is crawling around in your head.

- Don't worry, Master, Elsa has made quite a lot of progress in mind magic, and as long as you have a healer like me by your side, you don't have to worry about pain or anything like that. - I reassured the old man.

"That's true," Makarov smiled before settling down more comfortably and closing his eyes.

- I'm starting - said my scarlet-haired friend. On the palms that she placed on the sides of the master's head, magic circles lit up, and the girl herself closed her eyes, plunging into the mind of the elderly man.

At first glance, everything seemed perfect, but knowing where to look for discrepancies, Elsa stumbled upon a well-camouflaged barrier, which was not particularly strong, but it was enough to last until the end of life without outside interference.

Elsa did not hesitate and dispelled the magic. The first goal was achieved, but the problem was different. For half an hour, the girl looked for more such seals, because someone had to do it, and therefore hide memories of herself, but not knowing in which memory it should be looked for, Elsa was powerless to find anything else. After all, in order to check each memory for such a long period of time, it would take at least a month of continuous use of magic, and we do not have this time.

With a heavy sigh, the upset girl interrupted the spell.

- Well? Did it work? - I asked, seeing the spell stop and the Master starting to wake up.

- Not quite. I was able to restore the memories of that conversation in Polyushka's hut, but I couldn't find who did it due to a banal lack of knowledge of where to look, and the restrictions are so well hidden that if I didn't know where exactly the necessary memory was supposed to be, I wouldn't have been able to achieve the current result.

- Hmm. This is an unpleasant situation. - I said upset, after all, I and Acnalogia and Zeref have more than enough, and then someone unknown interferes.

- I'm too old for this shit. - Makarov groaned, from the problems that had fallen on his head. It's not for nothing that they say that from much knowledge comes much sorrow.
