Chapter 210: Pokémon: Breeding Simulator [210] [50 PS]
Traitor!
That was the first thought running through the minds of the wild Zoroark upon waking.
Bound hand and foot, they lay sprawled on the ground in utter disgrace.
And not far away sat the human they had encountered before fainting—Elias.
On his shoulder rested the very same Zoroark who had knocked them out cold.
It took only a second for realization to hit.
There's a traitor in the tribe!
Something they'd never imagined possible.
After all, to humans, Zoroark were nothing more than monsters—filthy, cursed creatures.
They'd been labeled beasts and bringers of calamity for as long as they could remember.
How could one of their own possibly side with a human—let alone get along with one like that?
How did she manage it?!
As her kin stirred awake, Zoroark hopped down from Elias's shoulder and strode toward them.
Her steps were calm. Unbothered.
"Traitor!" one of the wild Zoroark snarled with venom in their voice.
Zoroark didn't even blink.
I'm Elias's Pokémon. There's no betrayal in doing what I want.
She stared them down, voice cold.
"Why did you come out of the inner tundra?"
It was something that had been bothering her for a while.
Zoroark usually stayed deep within the Alabaster Icelands, rarely venturing out without reason.
Even if they did sneak out, they'd move quietly.
This brazen attack on a human camp—she'd never seen anything like it.
"A traitor has no right to ask about our tribe," one spat.
"We don't want to become traitors too!"
The response was exactly what she expected.
Her eyes narrowed, the sharpness in them cutting deep.
Suddenly, one of the wild Zoroark straightened up, eyes going wide with recognition.
"I remember now!"
"You're the one they kicked out a few years ago!"
Like a switch flipping, the others quickly pieced it together.
"No wonder you betrayed us."
"Must've hit rock bottom and sold yourself to a human, huh?"
"That guy probably won't even feed you unless we give him information!"
Their sneers were laced with cruel amusement.
In their minds, this Zoroark must've been living miserably.
Being forced to serve humans—eating scraps, begging for favors...
Why else would she be so eager to interrogate them?
But Zoroark merely scoffed at their shallow imagination.
Still as narrow-minded as ever.
She cleared her throat and began to speak—each word polished and confident.
She told them, in vivid detail, how Elias had cared for her over the years.
How he prepared meals for her, adjusting the flavor for variety.
How he gave her thoughtful little gifts.
How he designed her training schedule with care.
To the wild Zoroark, her tale sounded like something out of a fantasy novel.
The way she told it—with just a hint of smugness—only made it more believable.
Unconsciously, their eyes glazed over.
Were they... really the same species?
Was it even possible for a human to treat a Zoroark like that?
"No way—we're not falling for that!"
One of them forced out a rebuttal, cutting her off before the envy could take hold.
If I keep listening, I might actually want that too...
Zoroark flicked her tail.
"Believe what you want. Either way, I can still pull you into an illusion and get what I need."
Her tone was cold, confident.
The wild Zoroark glanced at her lustrous coat, perfectly groomed.
Then looked down at their own tangled, mud-streaked fur.
...They didn't speak.
It didn't feel like a lie.
Gods, I'm jealous...
Zoroark seized the moment.
"Give me the information, and let me become the new leader. In exchange, I'll find you a lush new territory."
It was a simple trade.
Most Zoroark were aggressive and violent by nature.
Only by taking the lead herself could she ensure they didn't run loose and ruin her reputation.
And more importantly—this way, no one else would get close to Elias.
She'd gain both power and privacy. A win on every front.
Sure enough, her offer triggered hesitation across their faces.
"Will we get to eat food made by... that human?"
One of them pointed meekly at Elias.
But the moment Zoroark's glare turned glacial, they clamped their mouth shut.
A moment passed.
"…Fine. We agree."
There was no point resisting.
They couldn't win, and they couldn't run.
Besides, she was still one of them. Relenting wasn't the worst outcome.
"We're not even sure why we left the tundra," the lead Zoroark muttered.
"A few days ago, we suddenly started feeling agitated. Then… we blacked out."
"When we woke up, we'd already attacked the human camp."
"It happened again today."
Just remembering the sensation made them shudder.
Zoroark's eyes narrowed.
They're lying?
It sounded absurd.
But before she could press them, Elias stepped forward and gently took her paw.
"Thank you for the information."
"As promised, I'll find a good place for you to live."
He smiled warmly at the wild Zoroark as he spoke.
Then his tone shifted, just slightly.
"As for the cooking... I'm afraid that's not on the table."
He caught the gleam in Zoroark's eyes the moment he said it—and couldn't help smirking.
He had been listening with aura the whole time.
His aura mastery had long since reached the point where he could easily detect lies.
And from what he could tell—their story checked out.
They had suddenly gone berserk.
Zoroark, realizing this too, nestled a little closer without saying anything.
The wild Zoroark, watching Elias defend her so naturally, stared in disbelief.
Is this... really one of those despicable humans?
Looking at that gentle smile, one of them swallowed hard.
She wanted to be caught too!
But the moment that thought took shape—
Zoroark turned to her, gaze sharp as a dagger, like she was looking at literal trash.
