Chapter 32: Tentacruel tournament
It was almost midnight now, and Kay had started to give up hope. He glanced at his watch, seeing the minutes tick closer to 00:00. 'If nobody shows up by midnight, I'm leaving,'.
At 23:58, Kay began gathering his belongings, preparing to leave. He slung his bag over his shoulder and called Eevee to his side.
Just as he was about to take his first step back home, something unexpected happened.
At exactly 23:59, the low hum of an approaching vehicle reached Kay's ears. A luxurious black car with tinted windows came to a smooth stop right in front of him.
Kay froze, his heart racing as the car's headlights illuminated the area around him.
The driver's side window slowly rolled down, revealing two men inside the car. Both of them were wearing masks; one shaped like a Cubone's skull and the other like a Marowak's.
The driver, the man in the Cubone mask, turned his head toward Kay and spoke in a firm, commanding voice.
"Show me the card," the man said.
Kay hesitated for a moment, but then quickly reached into his pocket. His fingers fumbled as he searched for the card, his nerves making it difficult to stay steady. Finally, he found it. Pulling the card out, Kay handed it over to the masked man.
The man in the Cubone mask took the card, examining it carefully under the dim light inside the car.
After a brief pause, there was a soft mechanical sound as the rear door of the car swung open on its own.
Kay looked at the open door, and he understood what was expected of him at that moment. He was supposed to get into the car.
Adjusting the strap of his bag, he stepped closer, but just as he was about to enter, the driver spoke again.
"Return your Pokemon to its Pokeball before riding the car," the man ordered, his tone leaving no room for argument.
Kay nodded silently, reaching for Eevee's Pokeball. "Eevee, return," he said softly, as a beam of red light pulled the small Pokemon back into the ball.
Kay returned Eevee to the Pokeball because he thought that he could call it out at any moment as the Pokeball was still in his hands. With Eevee safely inside, Kay took a deep breath and climbed into the car.
The interior was even more luxurious than the car's exterior, with leather seats and a faint scent of expensive cologne lingering in the air. Kay settled into his seat, gripping his bag tightly as the door shut behind him.
The car began moving, its engine so quiet, it was almost silent. Kay settled into his seat, still gripping his bag tightly.
As he glanced out of the window, he realized that the glass was tinted in a way that allowed him to see the outside, but anyone on the outside couldn't see in.
For a while, the ride was quiet, the only sound being the low purr of the engine and the faint hum of the air conditioner.
But then Kay noticed something unusual. A fine mist of spores seemed to be coming out of the air vents.
He leaned closer, trying to figure out what it was, but before he could react, his vision began to blur.
Realizing something was wrong, Kay quickly reached into his pocket and pulled out Eevee's Pokeball, his instincts urging him to call his Pokemon for help.
However, just as he was about to release Eevee, his strength gave out. His eyelids grew heavy, and within moments, he slipped into unconsciousness.

When Kay opened his eyes again, he found himself lying on the cold, hard floor of an unfamiliar room.
His head throbbed slightly, and it took him a moment to gather his thoughts. Sitting up slowly, he looked around, trying to figure out where he was.
The room was enormous, with walls that seemed to stretch endlessly, and it was filled with people.
As Kay looked down at himself, he noticed something else; he was no longer wearing his usual clothes.
Instead, he was dressed in strange attire he had never seen before. The fabric felt rough, and the design was entirely unfamiliar. His heart raced as he searched for his bag, but it was nowhere to be found.
Panicked, Kay patted his pockets and felt a wave of relief when he found two Pokéballs still in his possession.
"At least Eevee and Growlithe are with me," he thought, clutching the Pokeballs tightly in his hand.
Standing up, Kay tried to get a better look at his surroundings. The room was filled with people, all dressed in the same strange clothing he was wearing.
They were scattered across the room, some standing and talking in small groups, while others sat on the floor, looking just as confused as he felt.
Kay's attention was drawn to his shirt, where a bold number was printed: "10F." He stared at it, trying to figure out what it could mean. Was it some sort of identifier? A ranking?
As he scanned the room, his eyes fell on a group of individuals standing at one end of the space.
They were wearing Cubone and Marowak masks, just like the ones worn by the men who had driven the car. The sight of them sent a chill down Kay's spine, and his mind raced with questions.
They were dressed in black uniforms with patterns resembling white bones, giving them a skeletal appearance.
The masks of Cubone and Marowak only heightened the unsettling atmosphere as they watched the room with still, unreadable gazes.
Kay shifted uneasily where he stood, his hand still brushing the two Pokeballs in his pocket for reassurance.
He glanced around the room again and noticed that not everyone was awake yet.
Several people were still sprawled on the floor, their bodies motionless as they remained unconscious from whatever had put them to sleep earlier.
Gradually, the remaining sleepers began to stir, rubbing their eyes and sitting up with confused expressions.
Within moments, everyone in the room was awake, looking around with a mix of fear, curiosity, and confusion.
The air buzzed with murmurs as people whispered to one another, trying to piece together what was happening.
Suddenly, a loud creak echoed through the room, and all eyes turned toward a massive door on one side of the space.
The door opened slowly, revealing a tall figure stepping inside. As the man entered, the door shut behind him with a heavy thud that made the ground vibrate slightly.
The man who entered was dressed similarly to the others, wearing black clothes adorned with the same skeletal bone patterns.
However, his presence was even more commanding. Unlike the Cubone and Marowak masks worn by the others, this man wore a Groudon mask.
The fiery red of the mask and the detailed design made him look almost regal and intimidating at the same time.
He stepped forward with measured steps, and the room fell into complete silence.
All eyes were on him as he stopped in the center of the room, standing tall and surveying the crowd. For a moment, he said nothing, letting the weight of his presence sink in.
Then, in a deep and authoritative voice, he spoke:
"Hello! Dear trainers, welcome to our Tentacruel Tournament."
His voice echoed through the vast room, reaching every corner. The word "tournament" caused a ripple of whispers to break out among the crowd, but nobody dared to speak loudly.
Kay's mind raced. 'I knew I would participate in a tournament, but that is very weird, why did they kidnap us for just a tournament, I should stay alerted,'.
The man raised his hand, and the whispers stopped immediately.
"From this moment forward, you will no longer be called trainers. Starting today, you are 'Players.'"
