"What!"
A pained scream pierced the air but was abruptly silenced a second later.
"This is your final warning. If you continue to scream meaninglessly, there will be no need for you to speak again," Tyson said coldly, his eyes locked on Kuro.
With a calm gesture, Tyson signaled Kadabra to release Kuro's restraints.
Feeling his voice return, Kuro gritted his teeth, forcing himself to remain silent despite the lingering pain.
"Tell me everything you know about the Mizutani family," Tyson demanded, his voice sharp and unforgiving. "And don't even think about lying—unless you Believe he," Tyson gestured toward the unconscious Thomas, "can endure more of this."
Kuro trembled as he glanced at Thomas, his face pale. The thought of enduring more torture like Thomas was unbearable. He decided that honesty was his only way out.
"Fine," Kuro muttered, his voice trembling.
Over the next several minutes, Kuro revealed what he knew about the Mizutani family.
Tyson quickly pieced together the Mizutani family's power structure. The family's strength was considerable: in addition to their known Elite Level four trainer on the surface, Mizutani Junichiro the Mizutani Raima's grandfather, the family also had two Quasi-Master trainers and five Proficient Level trainers under their command.
While formidable, Tyson noted that the family lacked depth. Much of their strength stemmed from Mizutani Junichiro himself, the patriarch who had recruited and maintained the family's current power. Even though the current head was Mizutani Taki, the real authority still rested with Junichiro.
Their vulnerabilities, however, lay in their overreliance on Junichiro's influence.
While Kuro's information aligned with Tyson's suspicions, he wasn't one to take chances. He instructed Kadabra to knock Kuro unconscious before waking Thomas for the next round of interrogation.
Thomas knew less than Kuro but provided enough corroboration for Tyson to trust most of Kuro's account.
Once he had the information he needed, Tyson retrieved Kuro's communicator and sent a message to the Mizutani family.
"I'll fight to the death if I must,"
Tyson wasn't foolish enough to Believe he could take on the Mizutani family directly—not with his current strength. His goal was to provoke them, forcing them to make rash decisions.
He knew the Mizutani family might send stronger trainers after him, but he also understood the unwritten rules of the Pokémon world. Sending a Quasi-Master trainer after a young, developing trainer like him would be a severe breach of those rules, inviting scrutiny from the Pokémon League and rival families.
"Let's go, Kadabra. Take me to the next town."
With a burst of psychic energy, Kadabra teleported Tyson away.
Meanwhile, at the Mizutani estate, Mizutani Taki read Tyson's message with a cold smile.
"So, he thinks he can provoke me? Fine, I'll give him the mistake he's looking for."
Taki's smile concealed his growing fury. After issuing his orders, he leaned back in his chair, imagining Tyson's face when confronted by one of their Quasi-Master trainers.
Before he could relish the thought further, the door to his study burst open.
"Father!"
Taki's expression shifted as Mizutani Junichiro, the true patriarch of the family, entered.
"Why are you here, Father?" Taki stammered, quickly helping Junichiro to a seat.
"If I didn't step in, you'd have destroyed this family with your foolishness!" Junichiro's voice was firm, his presence commanding.
"Father, I've done nothing wrong," Taki tried to argue, but Junichiro silenced him with a glare.
"Don't lie to me. Trainers at the Quasi level do not attack those below them. That's the law—the bottom line. Do you want to bring ruin to the Mizutani family?"
Taki fell silent, unable to meet his father's gaze.
"Listen closely," Junichiro continued, standing tall despite his age. "To deal with a trainer like Tyson, you don't need to use our overt strength. I'll teach you a better way."
As Junichiro began to share his plans, he failed to notice the shadow of resentment flicker across Taki's face.
