"Crack—"

The sound of a mirror shattering echoed through a house in Lavender Town.

"Hehe, that kid did a good job."

"His strength is merely adequate, but he knows a variety of tactics. With such rich battle experience and combat awareness, he doesn't resemble an ordinary Elite Trainer at all. If not for the fact that his Pokémon's strength is only at Elite level, I would question whether he's truly just an Elite Trainer."

A short elderly woman chuckled as she gazed at the broken mirror before her. Her tone carried appreciation, and she seemed remarkably indifferent about her failure.

A Golbat hung upside down nearby. She carefully removed a shattered mirror from the Pokémon's mouth—a specially modified device capable of receiving the Golbat's Supersonic waves.

Previously, Agatha had been controlling Koga's Golbat, using its Supersonic to survey the entire Pokémon Tower.

Her own Golbat served as a receiver for these Supersonic waves, transmitting images of the Pokémon Tower to the mirror in its mouth.

This was how Agatha had been able to command the battle within the Pokémon Tower from town.

A truly remarkable technique.

She walked slowly to a nearby table, picked up a pen with a solemn expression, and wrote in a notebook:

"Through this experiment, it can be proven that Pokémon cognitive limitations can be exploited.

Utilizing Gastly's special ability to control Trainers and subsequently control their Pokémon.

The experiment has some flaws, but overall it was 95% successful.

With a few minor adjustments, this method can be implemented in the next phase of our plan."

"...Through Professor Oak's research papers on Pokémon community ecology, I may be able to manipulate wild Pokémon without capturing them by exploiting their group behavior patterns. However, this still requires additional experimental data for support."

"A Pokémon's loyalty to its Trainer is unquestionable. Unless the Trainer completely betrays the Pokémon's trust, a Pokémon will never turn against them. Whether this limited 'blind loyalty' is worthy of admiration remains a matter of perspective."

The elderly woman, like a meticulous researcher, carefully recorded the experimental process and results word by word. After documenting all the experimental data, she completed her research for the month.

As she closed the notebook, a dark purple mist suddenly materialized in the room. The mist gradually condensed, transforming into a Gastly.

The Gastly looked miserable. It had been struck countless times by the Kangaskhan, which was significantly stronger than itself, and finally received two extraordinarily powerful Mega Punches. If not for its incorporeal nature, it might have been knocked unconscious somewhere, rather than returning to its Trainer in this state.

"Really? The Kangaskhan taunted you like that? Its Trainer is typically honest, but the Pokémon under his command are quite aggressive. Unfortunately, that Trainer is determined to keep a low profile and rarely appears unless there's a major incident."

"If Mr. Fuji hadn't been involved this time, that Kangaskhan wouldn't have shown up here."

As the elderly woman spoke, a trace of anger finally crossed her face, as if recalling something deeply unpleasant.

"Perhaps it's not just about Fuji... Gary and Eddie too. Hmm, those two boys show great promise. They could become Elite Trainers or even Champions in the future. Is he protecting the next generation, I wonder?"

The elderly woman thought of Eddie and Gary. The former had been the biggest contributor to resolving this incident, while Gary had demonstrated remarkable abilities before she controlled him. Both showed tremendous potential.

"It's natural for that man's grandson to possess such strength, but Eddie seems even stronger than Gary. And then there's Ash, who fought alongside him in Vermilion City previously. Are there truly so many powerful Trainers coming from Pallet Town?"

Her tone carried a hint of envy, thinking that her old rival not only had successors but was surrounded by talented individuals, while she remained alone. Even her position seemed somewhat precarious by comparison.

"Is each generation truly growing stronger? After all, we older Trainers can only decline with age."

The elderly woman muttered, shaking her head as if dissatisfied with her advancing years.

"But this is normal. Most Trainers regress as they age. You and he are the only ones who seem to grow stronger with the passing years."

As she spoke, she turned her gaze toward a shadowy corner of the room. There appeared to be no one there, yet she stared intently at the spot.

"My old friend, even though you've grown much stronger than me, you underestimate me by playing hide-and-seek with a Ghost-type Master."

After her declaration, the house remained still and silent, as if her intuition had been wrong.

"Won't you reveal yourself? Then perhaps I'll discuss your activities with some of our mutual acquaintances..."

"Agatha, must you expose me?"

The elderly woman—Kanto Elite Four Ghost Master Agatha—was interrupted before she could finish.

A masked figure wearing a white mask and black robe materialized before Agatha, accompanied by the injured Gastly.

"Why didn't you use any other method to conceal yourself instead of a Gastly? Are you mocking me, a Ghost-type Master?"

Agatha sneered.

Even though the visitor was stronger than her, they had actually used a Gastly for concealment.

If she couldn't detect that, she might as well retire immediately.

"Though your disguise is quite intriguing. Ordinary people truly couldn't guess your identity. Yes, you're far more intelligent than that arrogant Lorelei."

Agatha mockingly referenced a certain 'Ice' Elite member while praising her old friend's disguise.

"It's sufficient to conceal my identity from ordinary people. The veterans might guess if they knew enough, but that's adequate. No one can stop me except him! And by the time he realizes, my objective should be complete."

The masked figure's tone remained calm, yet the confidence and arrogance in their words were unmistakable.

"While your current strength may justify such confidence, you should still exercise caution. That man is likely stronger than you now."

"Also, these new-generation Trainers—if given a few years, they could become as strong as I am. Be careful not to underestimate them and face an unexpected defeat."

Though Agatha appeared to be offering friendly advice, she was subtly encouraging the masked figure to act quickly.

The young Trainers of Eddie's generation hadn't yet reached their potential. If this person acted now, they would likely bear the responsibility for whatever transpired.

Agatha truly wanted to witness the current extent of their old rival's power. Besides, creating difficulties for him had always been one of her favorite pastimes.

"...I also wish to proceed swiftly, but the timing isn't right."

The masked figure wasn't oblivious to Agatha's thoughts but remained unconcerned. They simply couldn't act yet.

"Let's conclude for today. I'll make use of some of your research findings. Until next time, Agatha."

With those words, the masked figure took the Gastly and slowly dissolved into the shadows, vanishing from sight.

"Hmph! You speak as if I could prevent you from taking my research. How shameless!"

"But it doesn't matter. Use it. These discoveries were meant to be utilized. Besides, the more trouble you cause that man, the happier I'll be."

Agatha continued to sneer as a pair of eerie, ghostly eyes suddenly appeared in the shadow beneath her feet. The strange eyes seemed to be simultaneously laughing and crying as Agatha clutched her notebook and was drawn into the darkness, gradually disappearing.
