Pokemon: I'm a Farmer

Chapter 328: Chapter 329: A Perfect Diancie-in-the-Making

"Is your Swellow okay?"

After recalling Garchomp to its Poké Ball, Cynthia walked over and asked with concern.

She felt a little guilty—she had gotten caught up in the heat of the moment and unleashed Mega Garchomp's full power, which had inflicted serious damage on Swellow.

"It's alright. With Shaymin's healing, Swellow will recover quickly. Thank you for your concern, Miss Cynthia."

Looking at Swellow recovering rapidly, Rex replied with ease.

Sure enough, after just a short while, Swellow regained consciousness. After Rex handed it a rainbow energy cube, it began using Roost to accelerate its recovery.

"Miss Cynthia, your Pokémon are incredibly strong. I still have a lot of work to do," Rex said, now finally able to reflect on the clash between Swellow and Mega Garchomp.

"Rex, don't be too modest. If you keep working hard, I believe you'll soon become a real rival for me."

Cynthia looked over at Bagon, who was playing around with Chimchar, and spoke with a hint of meaning in her words.

Cynthia had no doubts about Rex's abilities as a trainer. She was confident that once Bagon grew under his care, it would reach a level comparable to her own partners.

As for Swellow, she didn't believe it could ever surpass her Garchomp.

Its base stats were just too limited, and Swellow didn't even have the potential for Mega Evolution. Reaching the same level as her Garchomp would be extraordinarily difficult.

Cynthia tried to put herself in Rex's shoes and concluded she wouldn't be able to train a Swellow to rival her Garchomp either. It wasn't arrogance—she simply understood the limits Pokémon had. Pushing beyond those limits was incredibly hard.

Through this battle with Cynthia, Rex had finally gained a clearer understanding of his own strength. Though there was still a gap between him and Cynthia, it wasn't as unreachable as before.

While Swellow's growth had started to plateau, Rex knew about something in the Alola region—Totem Pokémon.

These Pokémon were surrounded by a unique aura that greatly increased their size and strength, allowing them to break past the limits of their species.

That was the future Rex envisioned for Swellow. He hoped it could one day awaken a Totem Aura in Alola, allowing it to surpass its natural constraints and continue evolving.

Of course, the Totem stage was only temporary. Rex hoped Swellow would eventually ascend to the level of a Super-Ancient Pokémon.

Just like those legendary flashes from the anime—gigantic versions of Gengar, Alakazam, and Jigglypuff—bearing strange glowing patterns that symbolized their power.

Yes, there were also titans like Kyogre and Groudon among the ancient Pokémon, but what excited Rex most was the idea that even an ordinary species could reach such heights through sheer growth.

Rex didn't know if he could bring Swellow to that level in his lifetime, but having a path forward was better than standing still.

Over the next two days, Rex showed Cynthia around Rex Farm, and she thoroughly enjoyed the flower-filled, orchard-rich lifestyle.

But what intrigued her most was Rex's theory about Carbink's evolution.

During those days, Rex didn't hide anything from Cynthia. He allowed Celebi and Shaymin to infuse Carbink with life energy right in front of her.

Watching the diamond atop Carbink's head slowly fill with pink light, Cynthia began to believe in what once seemed like a far-fetched idea: that Carbink could evolve into Diancie.

"This is so exciting. I wonder if Carbink will really evolve into Diancie!"

Yui clenched her fists and stared at Carbink as it neared the final stage of transformation.

Yuli and Karen felt the same anticipation. They already knew how beautiful and powerful Diancie was.

At this point, the diamond on Carbink's head was more than 99% filled. With Victini's infinite energy as support, Celebi and Shaymin could finish the process today.

Not far from them, Cynthia also kept a close eye on the process. One of the main reasons she had stayed these past few days was to witness the outcome.

Time ticked by under the weight of their anticipation. Finally, the pink specks filled the diamond completely. The previously flawed gem was now a dazzling, radiant pink diamond.

Carbink's aura shifted dramatically—it was now emitting a glow that came from deep within.

But unfortunately, Carbink didn't evolve. There wasn't even the faintest sign of transformation.

This left the group disappointed, but Rex had already explained beforehand: just transforming the diamond wasn't enough. Other conditions would be needed for Carbink to achieve the impossible.

Sensing everyone's disappointment, Carbink, which had been thrilled about its newfound perfection, suddenly drooped. It felt like it had let everyone down.

"Carbink, don't be sad. Our goal was always to turn the impossible into possible. We can't get discouraged by one small setback. At the very least, you're now one step closer to becoming Diancie."

Seeing the effect their emotions had on Carbink, Rex quickly stepped in to encourage it.

Though Rex was disappointed that Carbink hadn't evolved, it was only because of his own high hopes. He knew full well that turning Carbink into Diancie wouldn't be easy.

He now realized his original plan had been overly simplistic. If it were really that easy, others could've replicated it with enough time and effort.

Diancie, as a mutation of Carbink, was hailed as the most beautiful Pokémon in the world. Its pink-glowing body could compress carbon in the air to instantly create diamonds between its hands.

Rex's next plan was to have Carbink attempt diamond creation—an ability unique to Diancie. If Carbink could succeed, it might come to understand Diancie's "authority" more deeply.

That's right—each mythical Pokémon possessed its own form of authority. For example, Celebi's time travel, Victini's infinite energy, and Shaymin's power to purify toxins and turn wastelands into flower fields.

Only by understanding and even mastering Diancie's authority could Carbink hope to ascend.

The massive energy stored in the diamond atop Carbink's head was its foundation for achieving that miracle.
