Pokémon Legends: Ash vs. Red

Chapter 2: The Silent King of Mt. Silver

The wind howled through the frozen cliffs of Mt. Silver, carrying flurries of snow that danced like white fireflies in the air. At the mountain's peak, where even the strongest trainers feared to tread, Red stood alone.

His red cap was pulled low over his eyes, his jacket lined with frost, yet he remained motionless—his breath slow and steady despite the bitter cold. Beside him, a Pikachu crouched on the icy ground, its yellow fur bristling with static. It, too, was silent, waiting.

Waiting for a challenge that never came.

Across from them, a wild Tyranitar roared, its footsteps shaking the mountain. Its eyes burned with fury, recognizing the man before it—not as prey, but as a predator.

A challenger.

Red said nothing. He simply raised his hand and pointed forward.

"Thunderbolt."

In an instant, Pikachu moved—a yellow streak against the storm. Electricity crackled through the air, illuminating the mountaintop as a blinding bolt of lightning struck Tyranitar directly. The giant Pokémon roared in pain before collapsing, the battle over in a single hit.

Red exhaled slowly. Another battle. Another victory.

Yet, he felt nothing.

It had been years since he last lost a battle. He had defeated Champions, Elite Four members, and even Legendary Pokémon. He had trained until his body ached, honed his Pokémon until they surpassed their limits.

And yet… no opponent had truly tested him in a long, long time.

The wild Pokémon of Mt. Silver were strong, but they followed instinct, not strategy. The challengers who climbed the mountain were determined, but not prepared.

None of them could push him anymore.

Until now.

The wind shifted, carrying voices from down below. The sound of travelers, their words barely audible through the storm.

"Did you hear? Ash Ketchum's looking for Red!"

Red's fingers twitched slightly at the name. His Pikachu's ears perked up, sensing the change in its trainer.

Ash.

The name wasn't unfamiliar. Red had heard it before—the kid from Pallet Town who had conquered every region, defeated every Champion, and even became World Champion.

Some had started calling Ash the strongest trainer in the world.

Red had never cared for titles. He never needed recognition. But if someone like him was coming…

For the first time in years, Red felt something stir within him.

Not excitement. Not anxiety.

Readiness.

He reached for his Poké Balls, adjusting them on his belt. The wind grew stronger, but Red stood firm.

Ash Ketchum was coming.

And Red would be waiting.
