In the control room of the rangers' base in Aoi District,

"These are the pieces of information I have gathered."

Haruto shared his suspicions with Ohtaka.

Ohtaka immediately turned to a nearby staff member, "Please retrieve all records related to Natsume."

"Yes."

On the staff member's computer appeared a Porygon.

Porygon's body is entirely composed of programs, and it looks like a collection of blocks.

Porygon was created using the most advanced scientific technology for Pokémon research, resulting in a successfully manufactured artificial Pokémon.

It is an electronic Pokémon created by humans.

Since Porygon can transform its body into digital data, it can revert entirely to program data and enter electronic space, allowing it to move freely within that space.

Additionally, because Porygon does not need to breathe, people expect that it could evolve into a Pokémon capable of flying into outer space.

Unfortunately, this idea has yet to be realized.

"Eh?"

"That's not right."

The staff member suddenly exclaimed in surprise.

He turned to Ohtaka, who was standing behind him, and said, "Ohtaka, gym leader, there seems to be something off about Natsume's farm."

Ohtaka stepped forward and asked, "What do you mean there's something off?"

The staff member pointed at the keyboard and brought up four images on the computer screen to show everyone.

"This is a photo of the farm taken by someone named Naoki."

"This photo next to it was taken by a man named Toru."

"The third image was taken by a girl named Aiko."

"The fourth was taken this morning by a visitor heading to Morimachi's farm gym, showing the changes in Rice Fragrance Village."

Ohtaka asked, "Is there a problem with these photos?"

The photos displayed various landscapes and farmland.

All the photographers had excellent skills, and just looking at the photos gave off a strong countryside vibe.

"From just the photos, there is indeed no issue; it looks like an ordinary countryside scene."

The staff member said directly, "But what if I told you that, from Naoki's photo to today, the span of time for these photos is only about a month?"

Ohtaka paused, "A month?"

Ranger Haruto suddenly remarked, "It's those crops!"

"The growth speed of the crops in the land doesn't match up."

"And from the images, it seems those crops might have already undergone a harvest."

Haruto's colleague replied incredulously, "How is that possible?"

"How could crops like Hearty Grains mature in just a month?"

The staff member zoomed in on the details of the images: "But that is the fact."

"In just one month, gym leader Natsume has transformed a wasteland into the fertile soil of the countryside."

"Such ability, to my knowledge, humans cannot achieve."

"What do you think Natsume, the gym leader of Morimachi, did to accomplish this?"

Ohtaka gazed at the photos and said, "What humans cannot do, Pokémon can."

"The king of fairies in legends, Xerneas, who can share eternal life."

"Bringing life to the forest, the forest guardian deity, Celebi, who travels through time and space."

Ohtaka looked at the images on the computer, recounting those ancient legends.

"And raising the right hand can make flowers bloom and the grassy fields flourish. Waving the left hand can make the land fertile and abundant, the king of bounty, Calyrex."

"And Jirachi, which awakens once every thousand years, infusing life into the earth."

"These Pokémon possess the ability to bring wastelands back to life."

Haruto looked at Ohtaka and said, "So, the Jirachi that Natsume, the gym leader, has could very likely be real?"

Ohtaka nodded slightly. "It's not just likely."

"I believe it is definitely real."

"Natsume, the gym leader, has just graduated high school."

"A regular high school student, in just a month, has gained the strength of a gym leader and transformed a wasteland into countryside."

"This simply cannot be explained."

"But if Jirachi is helping, then everything makes sense."

Haruto murmured while listening to Ohtaka, "Indeed, if Jirachi is involved, then it all can be explained."

"I previously thought that his healing powers were due to his descent from a Pokémon lineage, but now it seems it could be a gift from Jirachi."

Some Pokémon and humans do not have reproductive barriers.

Naturally, mixed offspring can be born from humans and Pokémon.

Haruto looked troubled and said, "I personally feel that Natsume, the gym leader, isn't a bad person."

Ohtaka glanced at Naoki and then said, "No one said that Natsume, the gym leader, is a bad person."

"Furthermore, I think we might have misunderstood something at the beginning."

Naoki looked puzzled at Ohtaka and asked, "What did we misunderstand?"

Ohtaka replied, "Perhaps it was not Natsume who took Jirachi."

"But rather, Jirachi chose Natsume."

The staff in the control room fell silent for a moment after hearing Ohtaka's words.

At that moment, one staff member said, "There is indeed a possibility of that."

"According to records, Jirachi awakens near those with pure hearts."

"Jirachi chooses its own guardian."

Haruto asked Ohtaka, "So what should we do about this now?"

"You write a report and send it up."

Ohtaka said to Naoki, "I will make a trip to Morimachi."

"Yes."

At the farm gym,

Natsume had just completed four official gym battles.

If any tourists among the visitors wanted to battle, they could directly come to the battle venue to challenge Monferno and the others.

If Monferno got tired, the patrol Houndoom would take the field.

At this moment, Natsume sat down by the fields.

In the distance, the evening glow on the horizon looked beautiful as always.

Natsume took out his phone and opened Farm Story.

Natsume thought to himself with a hint of self-mockery.

"Let's see what I can do now."

Natsume focused on the soil beneath him.

The soil was lifted by an invisible force, floating in front of Natsume.

"This level is probably equivalent to having learned the move Confusion."

Natsume thought.

He stood up and gently floated off the ground.

However, he wasn't very stable yet.

Natsume felt that with more practice, he should be able to master flying with psychic powers.

"Sandslash~"

Sandslash walked over to Natsume.

Sandslash was dirty, covered in grime.

Natsume released his psychic power and crouched down in front of Sandslash.

Natsume reached out and wiped off some of the dirt on Sandslash, then took out a Ground Type Gem.

"Sandslash, this is for you."

"Sandslash~"

Sandslash took the gem and tossed it into its mouth.

Sandslash used the Ground Type Gem, and its level increased to 333640.

Sandslash learned a new move: Scorching Sands.

"Sandslash~"

Natsume looked at Sandslash and said, "The changes in the farm are becoming more significant."

"Our companions are also increasing in number."

"Sandslash~"

Sandslash was Natsume's first captured Pokémon.

It had followed Natsume from a wasteland and had helped clear nearly a thousand acres of land since then.

Though Sandslash preferred arable land and rarely participated in battles, Natsume still hoped Sandslash's strength could increase.

"Natsume, gym leader~"

Aiko and Haruka waved as they walked toward Natsume.

Natsume turned to look at the two approaching him, "What's up?"

Aiko said, "It's getting dark, so we'll be heading out now."

"And what else?"

"You can't just be saying that."

Haruka poked Aiko in the side.

"That tickles!"

Aiko laughed as she pushed Haruka away, then looked at Natsume with a hint of shyness, "Actually, I'm participating in the Pokémon Contest in Sakura City the day after tomorrow."

"If you have the time, I hope you can come watch."

Aiko said as she took out an invitation ticket, "Here's the invite."

"The day after tomorrow, huh?"

Natsume took the ticket from Aiko's hand.

"Sure, barring any unforeseen circumstances, I will be there."

Aiko cheered, "Great~"

"Then we'll be going now."

Natsume waved his hand, "Goodbye."

As the sun set in the west,

The tourists in the farm slowly dispersed.

Some rode on their Pokémon, sitting atop them.

Those in a hurry called a Pokémon flying taxi on their phones.

They took the cable car attached to a flying Pokémon headed toward the city.

Most of the tourists waited at the bus station by the intersection for their rides.

Yamada Kaichou had specially added shuttle buses here for the convenience of the tourists.

"Sandslash, let's head back to the mountain and grab a bite."

"Sandslash~"

After the tourists had left, the surrounding noise and bustling scene faded away.

Serenity and tranquility returned.

Natsume led everyone toward Takamagahara Farm.

All around were soft rural paths.

Walking on the muddy land covered in fallen leaves, the sounds of the wind and Pokémon chirping filled the air.

In the night sky, stars twinkled.

"Noibat~"

Noibat swooped down from above, flapping its wings.

"Hey, Noibat."

Natsume waved at Noibat.

"You're already awake, huh."

"Noibat~"

Noibat happily landed on Natsume's arm, flapping its wings.

It seemed Noibat was thrilled by the changes at the farm.

It excitedly told Natsume how great Miltank and their lawn were.

Also, the underground ice cave was a lot of fun, though it was a bit too cold.

Inside the cabin on the farm, Cinccino had already turned on the lights.

The warm yellow light spilled from the windows, creating a cozy atmosphere.

"Moo~"

Lopunny stood at the doorway waving at Natsume as he walked up.

The delicious aroma of food drifted out through the open wooden door.

"It smells great, Lopunny."

Natsume smiled as he reached the door, "Did you prepare dinner all by yourself?"

"Lopunny~"

Tonight's dinner was prepared by Lopunny and Leavanny together.

Just as Lopunny was about to pull Natsume inside, Jirachi's figure suddenly appeared.

"Natsume, you're back~"

Jirachi was covered in snow.

Natsume looked at the snow-covered Jirachi and asked, "How long have you been in the snow?"

Jirachi shook off the snow, "Not for long~"

Jirachi gestured, "Just enough to cover two Jirachi entirely."

With a height of 0.3 meters, that meant Jirachi and Glaceon had accumulated over half a meter of snow in the ice cave.

"Natsume, we made a lot of ice sculptures! Do you want to see?"

Jirachi looked at Natsume with anticipation.

"Sure."

Natsume was curious to see how Jirachi and the others transformed the underground ice cave.

"Ka!"

Just as Natsume was about to accompany Jirachi to the ice cave, a loud call suddenly rang out from the sky.

A Corviknight flapped its dark wings and was speeding toward them.

"Natsume, someone is coming."

Kirlia said.

Natsume stopped and looked up, setting his gaze on the approaching Corviknight.

Ability: Pressure

Moves: Steel Wing, Brave Bird, U-turn, Defog, Roost

Inherited Moves: Tailwind

Potential: Near Champion 

Rotom's lenses focused on Corviknight and the man riding it.

"Rotom, looks like a big shot has arrived."

Rotom said to Natsume, "The man on the Corviknight is Tokyo's Flying-type gym leader, Ohtaka."

Natsume nodded slightly, "I understand."

"Dragonite~"

Dragonite came over holding a Springy Mushroom.

It stood beside Natsume, munching on the Springy Mushroom, its round eyes curiously watching the Corviknight.

"Corviknight~"

Corviknight landed in front of Natsume.

Ohtaka, who was riding on Corviknight, first surveyed Jirachi before addressing Natsume, "That's Jirachi, isn't it?"

Natsume readily admitted, "Yes."

Ohtaka seemed taken aback by Natsume's directness.

After a moment of silence, he said, "I am Ohtaka, the Flying-type gym leader."

Natsume replied, "You're quite famous; I know you."

As a country-level Flying-type gym leader, Ohtaka naturally had a significant reputation. Even without Rotom's mention, Natsume could recognize him.

Upon hearing Natsume's acknowledgment, Ohtaka immediately said, "In that case, this should be straightforward."

"I'll be direct: Jirachi is in danger with you. For its safety, I hope you can hand it over to me."

Jirachi immediately expressed its discontent upon hearing this.

"This place isn't dangerous at all, and Jirachi doesn't want to go with you."

As Jirachi said this, it made a silly face at Ohtaka while perched on Natsume's shoulder.

Ohtaka ignored Jirachi's expression and continued to Natsume, "Jirachi has very remarkable powers, and many desire to covet it."

"And I think you have already felt just how extraordinary this power is."

As Ohtaka spoke, he looked at the farmland surrounding the area.

Natsume patted Jirachi and said, "This is a familiar scenario."

"What do you mean?"

Natsume explained, "Isn't that how many movies portray it?"

"Clearly, the protagonist has obtained a precious treasure, but at that moment, a righteous figure always appears to help guard it."

"Yet, in the end, that so-called righteous figure often can't protect the treasure."

"The story ultimately needs the protagonist to step in to resolve it."

Ohtaka frowned slightly at Natsume's analogy, saying, "You underestimate the power of our Trainer Association."

Natsume calmly replied, "What if the problem lies within the Association itself?"

Ohtaka was momentarily taken aback by this statement.

He thought of the biotechnology company.

Last time in Aoi District, the biotech vessel was definitely there for Jirachi as well.

However, Ohtaka hadn't genuinely discovered any issues.

Ohtaka looked at Natsume and said, "Indeed, there may be individuals within the Association with their own agendas."

"But that's precisely why Jirachi needs stronger protection."

"Natsume, gym leader, I can assure you that Jirachi will be safely protected under my care and will successfully fulfill its mission!"

"I believe your Kirlia can perceive whether I am lying or not."

Kirlia nodded slightly.

Ohtaka genuinely wanted to ensure that Jirachi would return to the earth smoothly.

Jirachi held onto Natsume's neck, saying, "Jirachi needs your protection!"

"Sure!"

Natsume stroked Jirachi and said, "Don't worry, Jirachi."

"I wouldn't dream of handing you over."

After saying that, Natsume looked at Ohtaka and said, "Ohtaka, gym leader, I know you mean well."

"But there's one thing I'm quite confused about..."

"What do you mean?"

Natsume looked at Ohtaka and said, "It seems you've believed from the very beginning that your strength is absolutely superior to mine."

"Dragonite~"

Dragonite stuffed the last Springy Mushroom into its mouth and waved its hand at Corviknight.
