Pokemon: My Fate System Is Too Overpowered!!

Chapter 18: Chapter 17: Beedrill—The Predator of the Weak

The Wandering Falls Mystic Zone—one of the smallest Mystic Zones in the region.

The Pokémon inhabiting it were mostly low to mid-tier species, such as Butterfree, Beedrill, Pidgeotto, and Raticate.

Due to its relatively low-level ecosystem, it was commonly used as a training ground for rookie trainers, especially those who had recently obtained their first Pokémon.

Since Wandering Falls was under city jurisdiction, anyone entering had to register beforehand.

This wasn't just bureaucracy—it was a security measure. With so many students training here, the last thing they needed was criminals sneaking inside.

"That'll be 5,000 yen for registration."

Ryuu didn't hesitate and paid the fee immediately.

For Mystic Zones, there was always an entry cost—this one was on the cheaper side.

After registering, Ryuu stepped through the Mystic Zone gateway.

A faint hum of energy resonated around him as the barrier shimmered, allowing him to pass.

The moment he entered, he noticed dozens of other students—many of them forming small groups.

Most were freshman trainers, likely aiming to build experience before the entrance exams.

Forming teams was common practice for weaker trainers. Even in a low-level Mystic Zone, wild Pokémon could be unpredictable.

However, Ryuu had no need for a team.

He had an Elite-level Venusaur with him.

If anything went wrong, he had a walking fortress as his backup.

Ryuu activated his system and checked his Gold Destiny marker.

Priority One: Find Bagon.

The dense forest canopy overhead filtered out much of the sunlight, creating an atmosphere of deep green shadows.

Ryuu released Froakie from his Poké Ball while keeping Venusaur's ball firmly in hand.

He had no shame in using Venusaur if things got too dangerous.

As he moved through the forest, he noticed various Pokémon scurrying about—Rattata, Pidgey, Spearow.

None of them were worth his time.

Then—

Snap.

Ryuu stepped on a branch.

Suddenly, the leaves above rustled violently.

A shadow darted downward.

A Beedrill.

Its red eyes glowed with irritation.

It had likely been disturbed from its rest and was not happy about it.

Raising its twin, razor-sharp lances, it hovered aggressively, wings buzzing with hostility.

Ryuu frowned.

Fighting was inevitable.

"Froakie—Water Pulse!"

A swirling aqua ring formed around Froakie's palms.

With a swift motion, he launched a concentrated blast of water straight at Beedrill.

But Beedrill was fast.

It twisted mid-air, dodging the attack with practiced ease.

Then, with a sudden burst of speed, it lunged—its Twineedle glowing with a dark purple aura.

Poison Jab.

"Froakie, Quick Attack!"

Froakie's body became a blur, narrowly evading the incoming strike.

Beedrill's poisonous lances struck the ground instead.

The grass instantly withered where it made contact.

Ryuu's eyes narrowed.

That poison looked nasty.

He couldn't afford to let Froakie get hit.

"Close-range Water Pulse!"

Froakie zigzagged forward, appearing right next to Beedrill.

He thrust his palm outward—a point-blank blast of water struck Beedrill square in the chest.

The impact sent it crashing against a tree, where it slumped to the ground, dazed.

Ryuu let out a breath.

Froakie, puffing out his chest, gave a satisfied "Froaaa!"

The little frog was proud of his win.

Ryuu chuckled. "Alright, alright—you were amazing."

He reached down and patted Froakie's head.

Froakie croaked happily.

Then—

Buzz. Buzz. Buzz.

Ryuu's stomach dropped.

Slowly, he looked up.

His heart sank.

Dozens of Beedrill hovered above him, watching.

A whole swarm.

And at the center—

A massive Beedrill, bigger than the rest.

The Alpha.

Ryuu's system activated.

[Beedrill (Bug/Poison)]

[Level: 29 (Elite)

Ability: Swarm (Bug-type moves become stronger at low HP)

Potential: Gym Leader Level]

Ryuu grimaced.

An Elite-level leader—and an entire colony backing it up.

This was bad.

"Froakie, return!"

He swiftly recalled Froakie into his Poké Ball.

Then—

He pulled out another.

The heavier one.

"Venusaur—I choose you."

With a flash of red light, the giant appeared.

A heavy stomp.

A deep roar.

The ground shook slightly as Venusaur's Elite-tier aura spread across the battlefield.

The Beedrill swarm hesitated.

Even the Alpha instinctively flinched back.

Venusaur was leagues above them in strength.

For the first time—they were the ones outmatched.

Ryuu smirked.

"Oh? What happened to all that confidence?"

The Alpha Beedrill attempted to maintain control.

Raising its Twin Needles, it let out a loud, commanding buzz—an order for the swarm to attack.

But—

Venusaur moved first.

"Venusaur—Vine Whip."

CRACK!

A massive vine lashed out, moving so fast it was barely visible.

The Alpha Beedrill didn't even see it coming.

BAM.

It was sent flying—crashing through branches before slamming into the dirt, completely unconscious.

The rest of the Beedrill froze.

Then—

They ran.

All at once.

The entire swarm fled in panic, abandoning their fallen leader without hesitation.

Ryuu crossed his arms.

"Yeah, that's what I thought."

Venusaur snorted.

The battle was over before it even began.

###

After recalling Venusaur, Ryuu checked his system again.

Bagon's location was still further ahead.

"Alright. Let's keep moving."

With that, he ventured deeper into Wandering Falls.

His real target was still waiting for him.
