Pokemon: My Fate System Is Too Overpowered!!

Chapter 17: Chapter 16: Journey to the Wandering Falls

That evening, the Fujiwara family sat around the dining table, finishing up dinner.

"Mom, Dad—I'm heading to Wandering Falls tomorrow."

Ryuu set down his chopsticks, making his decision clear.

Fujiwara Daiki and Sumire exchanged glances.

"Wandering Falls?" Daiki asked, frowning.

The Wandering Falls Mystic Zone was a relatively small area compared to other Mystic Zones, but that didn't mean it was completely safe. While it wasn't considered lethal for experienced trainers, a rookie trainer like Ryuu could easily find himself in trouble.

Most students didn't even step foot into a Mystic Zone until after the entrance exams. Some never went at all, choosing instead to build their strength safely through controlled battles.

Ryuu had only received his Pokémon two days ago, and now he wanted to explore a Mystic Zone already?

"You're rushing this," Daiki said firmly. "At least train for a month or two first. Even Froakie might not be strong enough to handle the dangers in there."

"Your father's right," Sumire added, concern in her voice. "It's too soon. The wild isn't like the battle arena, Ryuu—it's unpredictable."

Ryuu expected their reaction, so he spoke calmly.

"I get why you're worried, but I wouldn't be going if I wasn't ready."

He reached for Froakie's Poké Ball and released him onto the table.

A flash of light—Froakie materialized, landing lightly before stretching his limbs. There was a noticeable change in his presence—he was stronger.

"I found an Essence of Water recently," Ryuu explained. "It boosted Froakie's strength a lot. I want to test how far we've come."

Sumire's eyes widened.

"The Essence of Water?"

Daiki nearly dropped his glass.

The Essence of Water was a rare elemental treasure that enhanced the abilities of Water-type Pokémon. In all his years as an Elite-level Trainer, Daiki had never even found an Essence of Lightning, despite being a specialist in Electric-types.

Yet, his son had already obtained one—just two days after receiving his first Pokémon?

The difference in luck was unfair.

"...Fine," Daiki muttered, crossing his arms. "If you're going, you'll need backup. Borrow one of our Pokémon."

Ryuu nodded. He wasn't reckless—this wasn't an anime where plot armor would keep him safe. He needed a safeguard.

"That's the plan. I want to borrow one of Mom's Pokémon."

Sumire smiled softly. "I thought you'd say that. Take my Venusaur."

She pulled out a Poké Ball and handed it to Ryuu.

"Venusaur is one of my strongest partners. If you run into real danger, he'll protect you."

Ryuu took the Poké Ball without hesitation.

An Elite-level Pokémon.

With Venusaur watching his back, he'd be fine.

"Thanks, Mom."

"Be careful," she warned. "The Mystic Zone may be small, but there are plenty of wild Pokémon that don't follow battle rules. If things go south, don't hesitate—run."

"Got it," Ryuu assured her.

After dinner, Ryuu stood in the hallway, thinking.

"Mom, I need one more thing—more Energy Cubes."

Sumire nodded. "I'll make extra tonight. I'll also pack a portable mixer for you so you can make fresh ones while traveling."

Technology in this world was advanced, especially in Pokémon-related fields.

Space-expanding backpacks, Poké Ball storage systems, and mobile food processors made survival in the wild much easier.

Being from an Elite Trainer family, Ryuu's own backpack was a high-end travel model with over ten cubic meters of storage. Most ordinary trainers had backpacks that could only store a few essential items.

"Also, make a few extra for Aoi," Ryuu added.

Sumire smirked knowingly. "Of course. You should take care of your future wife."

Ryuu froze.

Daiki let out a booming laugh.

"If she's serious about becoming your personal Breeder, she's already halfway in," Daiki teased. "Good job, son. You don't waste time!"

Ryuu sighed. Why were his parents like this?

Ignoring them, he headed toward his room.

---

Late at Night

On his way to bed, Ryuu passed by the kitchen.

The lights were still on.

He peeked inside and saw Sumire carefully preparing Energy Cubes, measuring ingredients, and running quality tests.

Even though it was already late, she was still working hard—all for him.

A warm feeling settled in his chest.

"...Mom, that's enough. Get some rest. Just prepare extra berries—I'll make the rest myself tomorrow."

Sumire looked up in surprise, then smiled.

"My son is growing up," she murmured.

She turned off the machines and wiped her hands. "Alright, I'll leave the rest to you."

Ryuu nodded and headed to bed.

The Next Morning

Dawn.

Ryuu double-checked his inventory, ensuring he had everything he needed for the trip.

✔ Clothing, tent, and survival gear.

✔ Food, medical supplies, and navigation tools.

✔ Poké Balls, Potions, and Status Healers.

✔ Energy Cube Mixer and ingredients.

✔ A compact shovel.

...Wait. A shovel?

Ryuu stared at the tool.

"...Not gonna ask why we own this."

After all, people did disappear in the wild sometimes.

Finally, he grabbed Froakie's Poké Ball and headed to the gym's entrance.

...

Daiki and Sumire were already waiting outside.

"Remember—don't take unnecessary risks," Sumire reminded him one last time.

"Trust your instincts," Daiki added. "And use Venusaur if things get dangerous."

Ryuu nodded.

He wasn't worried.

After all, he was going to claim his future Salamence.

With an Elite Pokémon backup, a strengthened Froakie, and a clear destination—this trip was already set up for success.

Now, all that was left was to begin.

Taking a deep breath, Ryuu stepped forward—

The journey to Wandering Falls had begun.
