Pokémon orphanage

Chapter 1: Abandoned Pokémon

"Krow!" With a sharp cry and the sound of flapping wings, Taylor raised his head.

A Murkrow flew down from the sky and landed directly on Taylor's hand, then turned its head toward the gate while calling.

"Kuro, are there any abandoned Pokémon again?" Taylor frowned slightly, and Kuro nodded.

Taylor turned off the stove, walked out of the kitchen hurriedly wearing an apron, and followed Kuro to the front door.

After pushing open the iron door, Taylor saw a red and white Poké Ball on the ground, with two hundred Alliance Coins on it.

Taylor looked around but didn't find the person who left it.

"Another abandoned Pokémon..." Taylor looked at the Poké Ball in his hand. As he picked it up, the Poké Ball shook a little, then went still.

Kuro jumped onto Taylor's wrist, staring at the Poké Ball with big eyes, a hint of pity and eagerness in them.

Taylor closed the door. The Poké Ball in his hand was not very heavy, but Taylor had already seen the information inside it.

[Teddiursa]

[Normal-Type]

[Near Death]

[Stage III erosive skin disease caused by forest fever, urgent treatment needed]

Taylor hurriedly took the Poké Ball to the infirmary and opened it.

A foul smell suddenly emerged. Kuro screamed and jumped back onto Taylor's head. After enduring for a moment, he couldn't bear it and flew out.

Taylor skillfully picked up a mask and put it on.

Even with the mask, the stench lingered at the tip of his nose.

In front of him was a small Teddiursa. Its originally cute appearance was now completely uncute, possibly nightmarish to some timid people.

It breathed rapidly, but with every breath, the festering wounds on its body oozed foul-smelling pus.

Large pieces of tattered skin hung on Teddiursa's body. The eroded wounds emitted a disgusting stench, and some tiny insects wriggled on them. Taylor put on gloves and gently touched Teddiursa's head.

The Teddiursa trembled all over. It had no strength to move. Only the rise and fall of its tattered chest proved it was still alive.

"It must be very uncomfortable, just bear with it." Taylor could feel the little one's mental pain. A faint green light appeared on his palm, and Teddiursa's breathing became slightly smoother.

Looking at the slightly calmer Teddiursa, Taylor said nothing. The little one was only marginally better now. Although the Evergreen Power could heal Pokémon injuries, it was ineffective against some serious diseases. This little one needed more careful treatment.

And sophisticated treatment meant high costs.

Erosive skin disease was expensive to treat, and Taylor suspected the trainer abandoned the Teddiursa for this reason.

"Fortunately, I have a cheat..." Taylor put on gloves and gently picked up the Teddiursa. Despite his gentle movements, a piece of eroded skin fell off and landed on the ground with a plop.

The Teddiursa didn't move, and Taylor gently placed it into the treatment cabin.

[Forest fever erosive skin disease stage 3, low-level treatment cabin can only maintain life stability, please upgrade]

Looking at the instructions on the treatment cabin, Taylor took off his gloves and pinched his eyebrows.

Taylor was not from this world. Like those popular time-travel novels, Taylor was a time traveler.

There was no sudden death from overwork or a magical shuttle to another world.

On the way home from work, Taylor saw a small Pokémon doll on the ground, a Charmander.

It was dirty, missing its hands and tail, but Taylor bent down and picked it up.

When he looked up again, Taylor was in the Pokémon world.

Smooth and seamless.

Fortunately, Taylor had a golden finger. He obtained a system, bound himself to this wandering Pokémon Pokémon orphanage, and became its director.

[Upgrade low-level treatment cabin: 1000 happiness points]

Taylor looked at the cost and pursed his lips.

Happiness points were earned based on the happiness of the stray and abandoned Pokémon taken in. Taylor had been in this world for two months and had earned only 1,100 happiness points. This was partly because his Pokémon orphanage had just started, and few Pokémon had been taken in.

"I was planning to exchange it for that..." Taylor decided to upgrade.

With the upgrade, the sci-fi treatment cabin became more advanced.

[Treatment time: 7 days]

Seeing the time displayed, Taylor wiped his hands, took off his gloves, and threw them into the medical waste bin.

Erosive skin diseases were somewhat contagious, but as long as one avoided contact with the rotten pus, infection was unlikely.

These gloves were now useless.

Looking at the Teddiursa, now calmed in the medical cabin, Taylor disinfected the area while thinking about how to write the report later.

Although he was bound to the role of Pokémon orphanage director, Taylor was quite happy about it. He had no desire to be a trainer or chase gym championships in this world. When he played Pokémon games before, he grew tired of being the champion.

As Taylor ran the Pokémon orphanage for two months, he gradually came to love the job.

"Krow!" Kuro flew down and landed on Taylor, curiously eyeing Teddiursa in the medical cabin.

"Let's go. We still have to cook later. Let this little one rest." Taylor touched Kuro's head, glanced at the sleeping Teddiursa, chuckled, and walked out of the infirmary with Kuro.

It was still early, but Taylor needed to prepare breakfast for the Pokémon.

Making breakfast wasn't complicated. A bucket of expiring milk from Evergreen Ranch and some ordinary vegetables served as breakfast for herbivorous Pokémon.

For those who preferred meat, Taylor prepared large cans of near-expired milk and discounted Pokémon rations from the supermarket.

After preparing, Taylor moved the breakfast out. Looking at the still-quiet Pokémon orphanage, he knocked on the small brass bell beside him.

Soon, hurried running sounds echoed in the corridor outside the cafeteria. Taylor picked up a cushion and placed it on a nearby pillar.

As the running sounds neared, a Primeape suddenly rushed in. It was very fast and slammed into the cushion Taylor had placed, falling to the ground with a thud. It shook its head and stood up.
