Pokémon: Rebron as Red, The Strongest Champion

"Charizard, this isn't a one-on-one duel between you and Gengar!" Red kindly reminded.

Onix and the Blood-Red Gyarados simultaneously attacked Charizard from the sides, using Iron Tail and Aqua Tail respectively.

'Well done!' Charizard exclaimed excitedly. Compared to the battle of wits with the Millennium Gengar, Charizard far preferred this raw confrontation of power.

At that moment, Charizard's wings glowed white as it used Steel Wing. Its massive wings, now like forged steel, withstood Onix's Iron Tail. It then turned, its fists crackling with electricity, and used Thunder Punch on the Blood-Red Gyarados. A violent collision sound echoed across the hills. As the dust cleared, the Blood-Red Gyarados had already transformed into its 'Evil Dragon Form', the Dark typing weakening the super-effective damage of Thunder Punch by half.

Before Charizard could adjust, Dratini's Dragon Breath struck its arm. Then, the naive Cubone foolishly lowered its body and launched a Headbutt attack, a sight that left the other Pokémon momentarily dumbfounded.

"Why is that little one's head so hard?" Red sighed, remembering that Cubone was a Ground-type Pokémon. How could its head be even tougher than a Steel-type's?!

Under the bewildered gazes of its teammates, Charizard lightly kicked away the charging Cubone. The small Pokémon was simply too tiny; if Charizard hadn't looked down carefully, it might have accidentally stepped on it. Cubone, its face flushed with embarrassment, chose to fall to the ground and pretend to have fainted. Fortunately, none of its companions laughed; its courage to join the fray was commendable.

'Are you rested now, Charizard?' Scyther stepped forward.

'It seems you want to compete with me alone. As expected of you,' Charizard said with a hint of helpless amusement. Scyther could have attacked while Charizard was exhausted, but it stubbornly clung to its so-called warrior's dignity.

'Hmph! This may not be the case!'

Scyther's arms suddenly swelled, a green light appearing on its scythes. To enhance the power of its slash, it even flapped its wings, using its momentum to increase its force.

The four-turn limit had ended. Charizard could once again use Dragon Claw. Verdant energy covered its claws, forming massive draconic talons.

BANG—

Charizard used only one claw to resist Scyther's X-Scissor. Under Scyther's disbelieving gaze, the remaining left claw descended rapidly.

"What a risk, but luckily we caught up in time!"

The Millennium Gengar breathed a sigh of relief. Seeing Scyther at a disadvantage, it immediately used its psychic power to restrain Charizard's left claw, allowing Scyther to evade.

'It's not a pleasant experience, but… thank you!'

Scyther extended its scythe and touched Gengar's hand, signifying the complete reconciliation between the two Pokémon.

"Good," Red said, a smile playing on his lips. He had finally gotten these two to make peace; this collective battle was not in vain.

Countless sharp Stone Edges floated around Onix, and under its control, they swiftly flew toward Charizard.

'Onix, you should know that this level of attack cannot defeat me!' Charizard said disdainfully, turning its head and using Flamethrower to fuse the stone blades into molten slag, shattering the remaining ones with a Dragon Claw.

"Too bad, this is just our strategy!" Gengar laughed. It gathered a strange light in its hands and used Confuse Ray on Charizard, intending to inflict a Confusion status.

Charizard was about to flap its wings to evade, but the Blood-Red Gyarados behind it had already formed a devastating Hyper Beam. Combined with Dratini's Dragon Breath, the attacks shot directly toward Charizard.

(Careless!)

Charizard was momentarily stunned, then chose to turn and use Dragon Rush to counter the attacks from the Blood-Red Gyarados and Dratini.

"It worked!" Gengar laughed.

The dust stirred up by the explosion settled. From within the swirling sandstorm, heavy breathing could be heard, and a pair of extremely furious, crimson eyes glowed with rage.

'Oops, this isn't just Confusion, it's Outrage!' the Blood-Red Gyarados exclaimed in surprise, immediately recognizing that Charizard's current state was far more dangerous.

Blazing blue fire swept over everything. Charizard, lost in its Outrage, was utterly reckless, eager to defeat its enemies immediately.

"This battle is getting a bit serious…" Red said, speechless. He prepared to act as the situation demanded. If Charizard became truly uncontrollable, he would have no choice but to use his own power to restore its senses. The enraged Charizard targeted the Millennium Gengar first; it was this Ghost-type Pokémon that had been stirring up trouble. Charizard spewed blue flames from its mouth, flapped its wings to use Air Slash, and covered its body in draconic energy to use Dragon Rush—all at once.

"Oh my, Boss, help!"

Gengar was stunned; there was no way to defend against three moves simultaneously. Seeing Charizard's seemingly bottomless stamina, Gengar had no choice but to wave a white flag and surrender to Red.

"Viridian Power!" Red whispered, his eyes glowing blue as a verdant natural aura appeared around his body. The frenzied Charizard was restrained by his psychic power, and the soothing Viridian Power quickly enveloped its body, bringing it back to its senses.

"Gengar, withdraw!" Red announced.

'Plans can't keep up with changes. Charizard's current strength is too terrifying!' Onix sighed.

'It's just the three of us now. You two little ones, just stay aside and watch!' Scyther said calmly.

'I refuse to believe I can't freeze its body!' the Blood-Red Gyarados declared.

A greenish Dragon Breath spewed from Charizard's mouth. Dratini, seeing this, also used Dragon Breath, but it was countered in less than a second. The remaining power hit Dratini, knocking it into a deep pit.

'You really don't listen to your elders!' Scyther said helplessly, charging forward and engaging Charizard in close combat with X-Scissor.

Charizard understood Scyther's intentions and did not rashly use fire, instead using Dragon Claw to contend with its strength. However, due to its superior lineage, Charizard's upper limbs hadn't atrophied; they were still as robust as they were in its Charmeleon days. After a short struggle, it forcefully pinned Scyther to the ground.

"Dratini and Scyther, withdraw!" Red said.

"Aren't you half-hearted…" Gengar muttered from the sidelines.

Seeing this, Onix and the Blood-Red Gyarados also rushed forward to fight. The former used Double-Edge, and the latter used Aqua Tail, both moves relying on raw power.

'Good timing!' Charizard said excitedly. Its hands were covered in emerald light, forming two massive Dragon Claws to withstand the attacks of the two Pokémon with sheer power.

"Isn't this guy getting too carried away?" Gengar wondered. Why wouldn't it just use its wings to evade instead of wasting stamina by confronting them head-on?

"If you could also Mega Evolve, maybe you'd be even more arrogant than this kid Charizard!" Red teased, which made Gengar blush. Deep down, it was indeed envious that Charizard could master the Mega Evolution form.

"Don't worry, Charizard isn't the only one who can Mega Evolve. You can too, Gengar," Red said calmly. This statement made Gengar so happy it felt like it was soaring.

"Then Boss, when can I Mega Evolve?!" Gengar asked excitedly.

"No rush. Mega Evolution requires not only a stone but also a bond of synchronized consciousness. While your recent performance has been good, you're still slightly behind Charizard and the other original six!" Red slowly explained.

"I see!" Gengar suddenly understood.

Seeing that brute force was ineffective, Onix used Stone Edge, and the Blood-Red Gyarados spewed a Hydro Pump. Both moves hit Charizard at close range.

'Damn it, that's cheating!' Charizard grumbled, furiously flapping its wings to use Air Slash, while its mouth was also busy spewing scorching blue flames.

'Good chance!'

Cubone, who had been lying on the ground feigning unconsciousness, saw its opportunity. It threw its bone club, which spun through the air and struck Charizard hard on the head.

A dramatic scene unfolded. Charizard, whose brain was struck by the Bone Club, suddenly reverted from its Mega form and fainted before it could even steady itself.

"Alright, the match is over!" Red announced. It was already quite impressive that Charizard's first Mega Evolution could last this long while battling six Pokémon. Cubone's Bone Club Boomerang had just managed to muddle Charizard's tense nerves for a moment, which caused it to lose the focus required to maintain its Mega Evolution form.
