Chapter 438: Chapter 26: The Power of Gyarados

Falkner looked at his defeated Noctowl, then shifted his gaze to Ash and his Lapras. A heavy sigh escaped his lips.

While type advantage played a significant role, Falkner had faced countless challengers with such advantages before.

This defeat wasn't due to the type disparity alone—it was Ash's mastery of tactics and execution. Ash's strategic brilliance and quick adaptability outclassed Falkner in every way.

"Return, Noctowl." Falkner recalled his fallen Pokémon to its Poké Ball, setting aside thoughts of defeat.

With renewed determination, he pulled out another Poké Ball and threw it with a dramatic flourish. "Let me show you our true strength, Ash! Go, Honchkrow!"

From the Poké Ball's white light emerged a striking Pokémon that commanded attention. Its dark blue feathers gleamed ominously under the gym lights, while the crest on its head resembled a mafia boss's top hat.

The white plumage around its neck gave the appearance of a neatly tied scarf, and its crimson-tinted wings hinted at danger.

Honchkrow

Type: Dark/Flying

Category: Big Boss Pokémon

Abilities: Insomnia or Super Luck

Hidden Ability: Moxie

Super Luck: Enhances critical hit ratio, allowing Honchkrow to break through defenses with devastating force.

Strength: Silver Level

Honchkrow was no ordinary Pokémon. With its high attack power and abilities like Super Luck, it could deliver crushing blows with moves like Sucker Punch and Night Slash.

However, its one significant drawback was its mediocre speed, which left it vulnerable against faster opponents.

Ash smiled faintly and pulled out Lapras's Poké Ball. "You did great, Lapras. Take a well-deserved rest."

He then reached for another Poké Ball, holding it confidently before hurling it into the air. "Now, let's take this battle to the next level! Gyarados, I choose you!"

Gasps echoed through the gym as the enormous serpentine form of Gyarados materialized. Its fierce, predatory gaze and the sheer size of its coiled body sent a shiver down the spines of spectators and even Falkner himself.

"This... this is Gyarados?!" Falkner exclaimed in disbelief. Even seeing it with his own eyes, he struggled to comprehend the scale of the creature before him.

This Gyarados was a behemoth, stretching at least 25 meters in length, with a body three times as wide as a typical Gyarados.

Every subtle movement sent powerful gusts of wind through the arena, showcasing its immense strength and presence.

Since its training and growth under Ash's care, Gyarados had evolved to Silver level, its raw power rivaling even gym-level Pokémon.

Its physical and special abilities made it a force to be reckoned with, capable of overwhelming most challengers.

"Capturing and training a Gyarados like this... it's unbelievable." Falkner's unease grew.

Even Honchkrow, typically a bold Pokémon, hesitated, its sharp eyes betraying a hint of awe and caution.

"Honchkrow, start with Night Slash!" Falkner commanded, pushing through the tension.

Dark energy surged through Honchkrow as its sharp claws glowed with a menacing purple light. With a high-pitched screech, it dove toward Gyarados, aiming for a decisive strike.

Ash remained calm, issuing his command without hesitation. "Gyarados, use Waterfall!"

With a thunderous roar, Gyarados activated its Water-type energy. A massive torrent of water erupted from its body, surging skyward like a cascading waterfall.

The powerful current clashed with Honchkrow mid-flight, halting its advance and leaving it struggling against the unrelenting force.

But Gyarados wasn't done. It surged up the waterfall with surprising speed, its massive body gliding through the waves like an ancient dragon ascending to the sky.

"Crash into it!" Ash shouted.

Gyarados roared once more as it propelled itself toward Honchkrow. The collision was brutal, the sheer force sending Honchkrow hurtling skyward like a missile.

The impact left Falkner stunned. "This... this is beyond anything I've seen. That Waterfall attack wasn't just strong—it was on a completely different level!" Even gym-level Pokémon would struggle to produce such power.

Honchkrow soared nearly 30 meters before gravity took over, sending it plummeting back toward the battlefield. It struggled to stabilize itself, its energy clearly depleted from the crushing blow.

"Finish it with Twister!" Ash declared, giving no room for Falkner to recover.

Gyarados's eyes glowed fiercely as Dragon-type energy radiated from its massive frame.

With a powerful roar, it created a swirling vortex of wind and energy around itself. The Twister expanded rapidly, drawing Honchkrow into its violent currents.

Honchkrow was helpless within the storm, battered repeatedly by razor-sharp winds and surges of energy.

The sheer force of the Twister caused even the spectators to feel its effects. However, an electromagnetic barrier activated around the arena, shielding the audience and referee from the aftermath of the attack.

Ash noticed the shimmering barrier and raised an eyebrow. "That barrier... it feels like something out of Lawrence's forbidden tech. Interesting."

When the Twister finally subsided, Honchkrow crashed to the ground, motionless and battered.

"Honchkrow is unable to battle! Gyarados is the winner!" The referee's voice carried a note of relief, thankful for the protective measures in place.

As the referee raised the green flag to signify Ash's victory, Falkner recalled his fallen Honchkrow. He looked up at Ash, his expression a mixture of respect and awe.

"Your strength is incredible, Ash. It's not just your Pokémon—it's the bond and strategy you've built with them. You've more than earned your victories today."

Ash nodded with a confident smile. "Thank you, Falkner. Your Pokémon gave me a great challenge, but we still have more to prove. This is just the beginning."

The crowd erupted in cheers, celebrating yet another electrifying battle in Ash's journey.
