Chapter 446: Chapter 34: Charizard Versus Charizard
Ash followed Liza to her small residence near the entrance of Charicific Valley. It was a quaint wooden house, cozy yet well-equipped.
However, there was no time to admire the surroundings. Their goal was the teleportation machine inside.
Without hesitation, Ash contacted Professor Oak's laboratory to request Charizard. To his surprise, it wasn't Professor Oak or Tracey who answered but one of the lab's staff members, who greeted Ash warmly.
After hearing Ash's request, the staff member quickly went outside to retrieve Charizard.
As Ash waited, Richardon, the Totem Charizard, stood outside the hut. His patience began to wane after five minutes, his heavy breathing and occasional growls betraying his anticipation.
Just as Richardon's restlessness reached its peak, the Poké Ball containing Charizard materialized on the teleportation machine.
"Thanks for waiting," Ash said with a confident grin, stepping out of the house with Charizard's Poké Ball in hand.
"ROAR!" Richardon let out a thunderous cry, his excitement evident. The Pokémon in Ash's Poké Ball would be his long-awaited opponent.
Liza, who had followed Ash, couldn't contain her excitement. The clash between Ash's Charizard and Richardon was something she had dreamed of witnessing.
"Liza, we need to find an open area for this battle," Ash said, his tone serious. "It's best to avoid the valley itself to prevent unnecessary damage."
Liza nodded. "Why don't we go back to the training ground where you and your team were earlier? It's spacious and isolated."
Ash agreed. The location was perfect—no nearby structures or Pokémon to worry about. Liza quickly arranged for her Hot Air Balloon, piloted by her assistant, Lisa, to transport Ash's friends, Misty and Brock, to the site.
As they prepared to leave, Ash enlarged Charizard's Poké Ball. A flash of white light filled the area as Charizard emerged, his tail burning with golden flames.
"No matter how many times I see it, your Charizard never fails to impress!" Liza exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with admiration.
Richardon's pupils narrowed as he stared at Charizard. The aura emanating from Ash's Charizard was unlike anything he had felt before. It was overwhelming, like standing under the blazing sun itself.
Charizard, in turn, regarded Richardon with a mix of respect and determination. Though he could feel the immense pressure of Richardon's Totem presence, Charizard's fiery spirit refused to waver.
Ash climbed onto Charizard's back and patted him reassuringly. "Let's show him what we've got."
Charizard roared in agreement and launched into the sky, his golden flames leaving a trail as he flew toward the designated battlefield.
Richardon followed close behind but paused mid-flight to roar an order to the other Charizards, commanding them to stay behind.
"Let's hurry!" Liza urged Lisa as they followed in the Hot Air Balloon. Despite their best efforts, they struggled to keep up with the two powerful Charizards.
"They're so fast!" Misty gasped, watching the golden flames of Ash's Charizard streak through the sky.
Even Lisa, an experienced flyer, couldn't help but admire the sheer power and speed of the two Pokémon ahead.
Finally, they reached the training ground. Ash instructed Charizard to land, and he dismounted swiftly. Moments later, Richardon descended, his fiery presence radiating across the area.
Before Ash could step away, Richardon unleashed a sudden Flamethrower as a prelude to the battle. The scorching flames rushed toward Ash and Charizard.
"Flamethrower!" Ash shouted instinctively. Charizard countered with his own fiery blast, meeting Richardon's attack head-on.
The golden and orange flames collided in midair, creating a spectacular burst of fire and heat.
For a moment, the two forces were evenly matched, but Richardon's superior strength began to push Charizard's flames back.
"Come on, Charizard!" Ash encouraged, sensing his Pokémon's determination to rise to the challenge.
Charizard's eyes burned with resolve. He let out a powerful roar, and the flames on his tail intensified, glowing brighter than ever.
Drawing on his inner strength, Charizard unleashed a second surge of flames, larger and more concentrated.
The new flames overwhelmed Richardon's attack, pushing the Totem Charizard's fire back toward him. For the first time, Richardon found himself at a disadvantage.
From the Hot Air Balloon, Liza, Misty, and Brock watched in awe.
"Richardon is being pushed back?!" Misty exclaimed, her eyes wide.
Brock nodded, equally astonished. "Ash's Charizard isn't just holding his own—he's gaining the upper hand!"
Even Liza, who was familiar with Richardon's strength, was taken aback. "That Charizard… it's incredible. To challenge a Totem Pokémon and actually suppress it…"
On the battlefield, Richardon's surprise was evident. His opponent wasn't just any Charizard—it was a true rival, a warrior capable of standing toe-to-toe with him.
Charizard's tail flame burned brighter than ever, and he let out another roar. This was a battle to prove his strength, to rise above his limits.
The intense clash continued, with both Charizards giving their all. The fight was far from over, but one thing was clear: this was a battle neither Pokémon would forget.
