Chapter 447: Chapter 35: Richardon's Hope

Richardon's fiery eyes lit up with excitement as it watched Ash's Charizard. This was no ordinary opponent—the golden flames it wielded carried a power reminiscent of the sun itself.

Intrigued and eager, Richardon increased the intensity of its attack, thickening its flames until they roared with the might of a champion-level Pokémon.

The result was immediate. Richardon's enhanced flames surged forward, easily overpowering Charizard's golden fire and advancing relentlessly.

The ferocity of the attack left no room for doubt: Richardon was beginning to take this battle seriously.

"Stop the clash and evade!" Ash commanded sharply. He knew that Charizard's current strength wasn't enough to withstand a direct confrontation with the champion-level Pokémon.

Although reluctant, Charizard trusted Ash's judgment. Cutting off its energy output, it launched itself skyward in a powerful ascent.

The instant Charizard moved, the place it had just vacated was scorched black by Richardon's flames, leaving no doubt about the devastating power of the attack.

However, Charizard's sudden maneuver left Ash exposed on the ground. This was no stadium battle, and there were no protective barriers to shield him from stray attacks.

"Look out!" Liza's voice rang out from above as she and the others watched in alarm from the Hot Air Balloon.

But Ash remained calm. "Pikachu, now!" he called.

Pikachu, perched on Ash's shoulder, leapt into the air with practiced ease. Golden sparks crackled around it before erupting into a powerful Thunderbolt.

The blinding lightning clashed with the remnants of Richardon's flames, filling the battlefield with dazzling light.

Startled but quick to react, Richardon ceased its attack, withdrawing the flames before they could reach Ash. Pikachu also stopped its Thunderbolt, landing gracefully back on the ground.

The brief exchange left both parties unharmed but deeply impressed by each other's power.

"Pika!" Pikachu exclaimed, its small form exuding confidence.

Liza, watching from above, was astounded. "Unbelievable! Pikachu just neutralized Richardon's attack!"

Brock nodded, equally amazed. "That little Pokémon has strength that defies expectations."

Charizard, now safely airborne, cast a glance at Pikachu. Though it had always respected Pikachu as a predecessor in receiving the inheritance of the Three Legendary Gods, the battle had reminded it of just how far Pikachu's strength extended.

Even Richardon, the Totem Charizard, regarded Pikachu with newfound seriousness. While it had sensed Pikachu's unique aura before, witnessing its power firsthand had exceeded Richardon's expectations.

"ROAR!"

Richardon's growl reverberated through the battlefield. Excitement coursed through the Totem Pokémon, its crimson scales shimmering in the blazing sunlight.

Towering far above Ash's Charizard, the Champion-level Pokémon exuded an overwhelming presence. This wasn't just a battle—it was an opportunity for both Pokémon to surpass their own limits.

Ash, noticing Charizard's determined glare, smirked. "Charizard, let's show them what we're made of! Use Flamethrower, full power!"

Charizard released a mighty roar of its own, the flames on its tail flaring larger and hotter. Its wings buffeted the air as it powered up, exhaling a searing golden stream of flame that burned as intensely as its battling spirit.

Richardon didn't hesitate, retaliating with its own Flamethrower, the fiery torrent seemingly twice as powerful as Charizard's.

The two attacks collided in midair, their roaring infernos merging into a swirling maelstrom of heat and pressure.

Sparks and embers rained down, setting stray patches of grass ablaze and sending waves of heat radiating through the battlefield.

From the balloon, Ash's friends looked on in awe.

"Incredible," Misty murmured, shielding her face from the heat. "Charizard is holding its own against Richardon!"

"It's unheard of," Brock added, sweat dotting his brow. "Richardon is nearly Champion-level—it's like fighting a Pokémon over twice Charizard's strength. Yet Ash's Charizard isn't backing down."

The two Flamethrowers remained locked in a fierce stalemate, Charizard fighting valiantly to hold its ground against the sheer force of power.

However, Richardon gradually began to press its advantage, steadily ramping up the intensity of its flames. The heat intensified, causing even the spectators to step back.

By the time Richardon reached only 70% of its full power, the tide began to shift. Its flames pushed through, swallowing Charizard's attack completely and barreling toward it like a tidal wave of fire.

"Fall back, Charizard!" Ash ordered quickly. Charizard, though visibly frustrated, complied, pulling back quickly.

It spread its wings wide, dodging the incoming flames with a precise mid-air roll.

Richardon didn't pursue the fleeing Pokémon. Instead, it landed on the burnt terrain, releasing a low, resonating growl. Its crimson eyes were locked on Charizard, igniting with intrigue and anticipation.

Ash clenched his fists. He could tell what Richardon was doing. "It's testing us," he muttered, slowly piecing it together.

Richardon's actions made its intent clear: it wanted to see Charizard's true strength. The Totem Pokémon could sense untapped potential within Charizard—power that had yet to be unleashed.
